I bought also the housebrand one from a german drugstore, it's ok, but doesn't blow me away, but for 4€ it's ok. But that's exclusive for Germany (Balea). My favourite cleansing balm is Take the day off balm from Clinique, they do have a cleansing oil in the same range, which I haven't tried, but if it is anything close to the balm, it should be very good.
Oily girl here and I wish I had found oil cleansing sooner. My skin doesn’t get as many breakouts with oil cleansing. I rarely have angry pimple or rough texture now.
I have been using the double-cleanse Methode since Caroline Hirons introduced me to it. I use a drugstore (Balea) oil-based cleanser for 3€ for the first cleanse and the CeraVe SA smoothing cleanser for the second cleanse, I use no serums or anything just the Weleda Skinfood as my day & night cream and a LaRoche Posay SPF 50. before that, I would spend hundreds a month on skincare to cure my acne and nothing worked. Since I simplified it, my skin is clear and I get compliments all the time.
I had an elaborate skincare routine and at some point I managed to actually damage my skin barrier and areas around the eyes got sensitive. I stopped everything but cleanser, moisturiser and spf for 2 weeks and then I started a much simpler routine than the 8-9 steps I had before and my skin is looking 10 times better
@@yasminkhan5569 certainly 😄 I wash my face only at night with a jelly cloud cleanser from Shingmulnara (Korean sk) and then I apply the beauty of Joseon Revive serum followed by a moisturiser from ma nyo called bifida biome aqua barrier cream- this is really good. And I apply/tap Paula’s choice 1% retinol after the moisturiser only on my forehead. And for the day, I wash my face with water, apply collagen serum from clinéa , vita c serum from Goodall, same moisturiser and finish it off with the unseen sunscreen spf from supergoop.
Good for you! Simple is best! I have a 2-step skincare routine where I use an oil-based cleanser and moisturizer for the last 10 years and my skin looks healthy and youthful (I have dry/sensitive skin) - for reference, I'll be 40 in a month.
I have really oily acne prone skin, I used to use expensive 5 step routines. I switched to cerave face wash and moisturizer only, and started taking care of my body from the inside exercise, only water, fruits and veggies. My skin glows and I don’t feel the need to wear heavy makeup anymore to hide anything because I like how my skin looks now on its own. Simplifying my skin care and treating my body better is what made my skin look good.

It seems like everything that is directed toward acne-prone skin is always in addition directed toward oily skin as well. I'd like to find good products meant for adult acne that are also meant for dry skin together.
You might want to try some k or j beauty products. The way they go about treating acne is different. Hydrating and soothing the skin is a big priority even for the products made for acne.
Thanks all for the replies and advice! I seem to be getting mine on my cheeks the most. It's like as soon as I heal one up another one pops up elsewhere. The only time I get any on my chin area is during my period. It's so frustrating because I didn't even have acne this bad when I was a teenager.

I found an amazing alternative to oil based cleansing balms... Beeswax! There are beeswax based cleansing balms and they are nowhere as greasy, but take off makeup just the same! It's worth trying
Wait, but that's how toure supposed to oil cleanse/double. Use the oil cleanser, rinse off. Use a foaming cleanser to get the rest off. If you aren't using a regular cleanser after the oil cleanser, OF COURSE you're going to breakout. Double cleansing is a gamechanger if you6re doing it correctly! And be sure to avoid mineral oil and coconut oil in the oil cleanser if you can. They're more likely to cause skin reactions.
I love using Elizavecca 90% Olive Oil cleanser with LRP’s Effaclar gel face wash. Does wonders for clearing breakouts, keeping acne at bay, and maintaining my skins moisture barrier without looking like a grease ball !
When I was using only oil based cleanser I had softer and more supple skin and just as clean, everything else dries me up. You just really need to trial and use what's best for you!

I hear you! I rarely go out tanning now days for the same reasons. I have used a bunch of self tanners but as you mentioned so much chemicals that's bad for us in a lot of them. I recently found a self tanner by Beauty by earth that is made with natural indigents. I've been using it for a few months now and I really like it! It doesn't fade out quickly and you can also build up the tan each day more if you want to go darker. Hope the suggestion may help you!
How long dose it take you to tan? Personally because my skin is melanated,I can spend 15mins in the sun & I'm tan for weeks and that's not harmful because it's a short amount of time & Regardless of what people say,with Wayyyy different skin who don't have the same properties as me,Getting some sunlight is very beneficial to your skin. There are actual oil cleansers instead of using plain old oil regardless of what it is. Oil cleansers have surfactants which allow it to more easily rinsed off before doing your regular cleanser.
Bro I wouldn't... maybe in your hair but not your face. Rosehip seed oil or jojoba is a lot less pore clogging as a moisturizer but I stick to it in the winter (i'm oily)
I have combination skin, and I do use it as a moisturizer once in a while. You don't need much at all, I think that is the mistake a lot of people do. I use 2 drops and warm it up between my fingers and make sure I rub it in very well and tapping. I've even used it with retinol serum, and my skin loves it.
I'm one of those people who can't double cleanse - no matter how well I used the second cleanser, I wasn't getting the oil cleanser off and would get little bumps along my chin. Once I stopped double cleansing, the bumps went away

Most do though, maybe you try another one? Balms like Clinique Take the day off or others don't leave any residue. You can either lather them up with water and rinse them, or take a damp warm face cloth and clean it off, before using the second cleanser.
An aesthetician recently told me that micellar water strips then skin and must NOT be used. And that I MUST use an oil cleanser because I'm 37, it's absolutely not ok to use a foaming cleanser AT MY AGE 😂 Thanks for your scientific advice Dr Idriss, I appreciate you ❤
Less is more. I have sensitive combination skin and no routine ever quite worked. Until I switched to using JUST micellar water 2x a day... that's it. My skin never breaks out anymore, tone now even (so I don't need foundation, concealer, etc anymore), skin is now no longer dry OR oily, just normal. So much time and money saved!
The only time I use an oil cleanser is when I use massive amounts of sunscreen on my body during the summer, where my skin is more frequently exposed. Then I follow it up with whatever I bathe with. For my face, I find that unless I'm also wearing makeup, which is rare, the CeraVe Salicylic acid cleanser does a good job of cleaning off the Korean sunscreen from my face and neck. Or I use a cleansing milk first, bha or aha cleanser after.

Castor oil was a big NO for me. Especially in my scalp. Caused a yeast overgrowth on my skin and scalp. I’m very sensitive to these things people deem “natural”

There' s no word to describe how unhumanly oily and acne prone I was born😅. *NEVER* had an issue with oils or balms to break out stage make up as long as it' s followed by a proper cleanser for my skin type. I' ve used baby oil, olive oil or even Nivea 🔵 back when the skincare was limited AF and the internet didn' t exist😅.

Oil cleansers are amazing. But you definitely use another cleanser as a second step. And not every oil/balm cleanser is the same. 😉

I’ve had good luck with CeraVe products for sensitive dry 30’s acne-prone skin. That plus prescription tretinoin.
If most of your acne are mostly around your chin or jaw its possible that its hormonal acne which can be harder to prevent😩

I heard beeswax is comedogenic so it could cause acne in some sensitive people but maybe since you are washing it off its not an issue

All you really need is rose water for cleansing and then some aloe vera. And if you have acne then just use sulphur soap.

Honestly my skin breaks out if I don't double cleanse. And I don't like the feeling of rubbing cotton pads on my face. So cleansing balm it is for me.
