If a guy asks for your contact just don't give it to him or anyone in his group. I grew up as the internet was developing...I'm a pre-1997 kid...this was a basic in primary school, yet today I feel it's just not said enough. Don't ever feel pressured and always feel happy to be rude if necessary. Girls are conditioned to be polite - even if that behaviour puts them at a disadvantage or even danger. Sometimes it's ok to tell people "I don't appreciate or care for this conversation...I'm leaving.." Or if it's really bad pretend you are going to the toilet and slip out anyway. Coach your friends that they are never to give out your contact without expressed permission. Keep safe x

why can't some people fucking accept that not everyone goes to Korea for men? It gets tiring at some point.

korean men always speak their minds sometimes without thinking LOL i don't think they realize how rude they can come out but like it's just the culture like i've had (korean) male friends asking me how much weight i gained (from eating like a pig the day before) they just don't realize :0 about the last dude, almost every korean man is like that but like they don't know that they look rude to non koreans
I would say to the guy in the restaurant with my mouth FULL OF HALF CHEWED FOOD that I had a boyfriend too, but make sure to be as disgusting as possible.
I warn all my female friends about going to Korea for risk of the creepy guys there. The Korean government needs to fix this.
Unfortunately it’s culture there. Nobody talks about koreas dark r word culture. Then when these women go there thinking they’re gonna have the fan fict/ k drama life, and instead be gifted with a rude awakening of both assault, creeps, and more things that never even make it into the media. They don’t report on what happens to foreign women because they’re corrupt. Korea is NOT safe.

Tbh if you want to be treated in the same way that a korean girl would be treated then wouldn’t it make sense to hold yourself to the same standards as korean girls do? Meaning don’t drink with guys you aren’t interested and don’t hang around with guys at night who you aren’t interested in either.
I think its a bit more multifaceted then that, as i think its also the way guys speak and treat her. She has spoken before about how her race alone means that she is also fetishized in Korea. So i don't think holding herself to the same standards as a Korean girl would do her much good as they already view her differently, possibly with less respect. Nonetheless she shouldn't have to act a certain way just to get treated with respect the guys were clearly sexist. She also only specified one specific scenario tho stating its clearly happened more then once, just because she was drinking with them then, doesn't mean she's always drinking with men which is the reason why she's not getting treated with respect.
That sounds a bit like victim blaming to me. Having "to mimic" a Korean girl isn't really a solution to guys' shitty behaviour. Sadly this stuff happens everywhere and it's therefore not realistic for girls to restrict themselves in some areas of life just to avoid creeps. You probably left this comment as well-meaning advice, but as she said in the video, dudes will just interrupt lunch breaks or see invitations where there are none.
I agree with the other comments under this comment. ‘Hold yourself to the same standard’ I’m not sure what you mean? I’m hanging out with friends and meeting new people. The same thing everyone my age does, regardless of nationality. I could just be walking down the street, minding my own business and a guy would approach me trying to get my contact info simply based on the fact that I’m a foreigner; where as if I was korean they wouldn’t approach me at all.
GloGlo I can’t tell you how many times this has been done to my friends and I while we are out. They have this misconception and stereotype about foreigners that totally shape their way of approaching us here and it’s frankly disgusting tbh. Like- ugh
This is such an underhanded way of telling her it’s her fault for being creeped on lol. *Why* would she have to act like a Korean girl?? She’s not a Korean! She’ll never be treated like one no matter how much she behaves like one. Why can’t the guys just treat her like a decent human being instead of a living blow up doll? Even if she “held herself to the same standards” there would still be men there who think she’s “loose” and just straight up not respect her or her boundaries just because she’s a foreign woman. That is a very real stigma that won’t be erased no matter what you act like there, and you should honestly be ashamed for even submitting this comment.
