This sounds interesting. A Korean girl sent me a message on Facebook chat, then asked me to go to google chat. We chatted for a week and a half then there’s some chemistry going on then started saying she loves me, at first I asked her that if she ever needs a person to chat with or to be a pin pal then hit me up then we can chat. Think she likes me for the photo appearance on Facebook, well the picture on my Facebook was professionally shot and if you compare my professionally shot photo and cellphone picture, they’re far apart and different, so she tells me she likes me on the photo. She checks out all of the box’s of a Korean girl about chat app and all those stuff. But is she moving too fast to call me HONEY and says I love you in just a week and a half. I know maybe why she’s doing this because she doesn’t wanted to lose me too fast because she feels the chemistry between us. She lives in Texas but enlisted in the army and I live California, she already put in her notice to be discharged from the military so she can come be with me, I’m like it’s too fast saying to myself. I’m Asian but not Korean and I might not understand the mindset of a Korean girl. She writes that she’s been hoping for a nice guy and somewhat i checkout all of the boxes that she’s looking for. Think why she’s in the military too, both parents are gone and she’s the only child, now she’s met me and I’m single then she knows that she has to get what she wants before it’s gone, she did tell me that she sad and has NO one. Should I just give it a shot or just tell her to slow down just a little. I means she looks awesome and everything but one week and a half feels too rush to say I love you and calling me Honey already. Need help from a Korean perspective from a non-Korean Asian please
I had a date with a Korean guy. I thought he was really sweet at first, then later on in the day he started saying things about my mannerisms and appearance that "could be better." Yo I've never ended the date faster than that! Politely excused myself and told him later that he wasn't my type.
Does he meant u should go under knife so, that u'll be appealing 😂🤣😂🤣 these PPL are crazy on the very 1st date LMAO 😅 they've got the nerve to say 😂🤣 they're very much obsessed by LOOKS & status is what I can get of Pupils experience of dating Koreans
@@robotunicorn6462 that's cruel on his part to suggest such a thing if i would be in ur place i would have punched ✊👊 him in his face ur rather too polite uh deserve better bdw where are uh from ??? Korea???
I live in Korea currently, and I dated a Korean guy for 2 years. We were good friends for 8 of those months, but after that I realized I just liked him. We were really compatible and had a peaceful relationship and felt like we didn't have to "put on a show" with each other. We both don't have weird fetishes for each other's ethnicity or anything. We were just two random people who met by chance and connected. He took great care of me when I needed things, and he was very ambitious and inspired me to grow and improve myself. He also would randomly tell me about him dreaming of us living together and having kids together. We're not that young btw, we're both 28. So safe to say I was in love with him, and I asked the "Do you see a future with us?" Question. He was hesitant, but said yes, but was worried about what his parents will think. And he said he needed time to think about it before he talked to his parents. Everything went downhill from there. Suddenly he considered us "long distance" because we lived in different cities and suddenly he had issues with the "language barrier." And he said he could not see a future with us shortly after. I heard Korean guys don't take foreign girls seriously, and just like to have fun with them. He had met many of my friends and they said he did really care about me. But I'm just having a hard time believing it. Cause I felt like he threw me away once I showed desire for something for real. Buuuuutttt lesson learned. Time to move on.
@@quiteperqui3529 Seems like you're a bit out of touch with reality. Most cultures are like the korean ones when it comes to dating and marriage. Parents, unfortunetly, as alot of influence in people's relationships. Many of them gets disowned by family for that dating someone that they don't like. Many fear that so have heart and empathy towards the guy if that's the case.
@@mohhhhhhhhgjghvcy because K-pop tends to promote idols similar to k-drama characters, on top of that market, unhealthy skinny unsustainable body type specially on girls
I just dont understand the knuckleheads that actually book a plane ticket to Korea and start wondering around Seoul like a fool hoping to run into a Park Go Gum or a Ji Chan Wook! Honey, these men will probably marry in their late 40s or 50s due to their careers. You are better off settling for the simple homey looking korean man living in the countryside.
The whole 'oppa' thing is just bizarre to me in the same way the terms 'daddy' and 'papí' are. Seriously, why would I want to refer to my sexual partner as my older brother or father? No thank you. I'm currently in South Korea and I honestly don't see myself dating here any time soon or at all😅
I hate the Daddy thing so much. Why, when there are three thousand other terms you could use for sexual innuendo... now people with these creepy sexual fetishes think they can "daddy and little girl" out in public. Blech.
Just commented the same thing on another comment, it's soooooooo gross and weird lol. Like your brother you male friends AND your boyfriend ? Nah dude .... what's wrong with you xD
These debunking video around dating are educational. Kpop and Kdrama are fantasies not based on reality giving false impression of everyday culture. Always love your jokes.
Kentertainment is like Hollywood: a creation of the governement as a propaganda weapon. Korea copied US and created their own propaganda weapon, even Korean Governement has recognozed that they created Kpop industry
When I was travelling in Korea this past spring, I was taking the subway back home after a tour for the first time ever, like I had never used the subway before that. And this guy saw me, said I like your tattoos, and I was like oh thanks and figured that would be the end of the conversation. But then we just kept talking for the whole way back to Hongdae, he stopped me from missing my stop, helped me find the right exit and everything, and then we traded kakaos and hung out while I was there. Similar things happened throughout my time there, dudes would just strike up conversations or sometimes immediATEly ask for my Kakao and I would be like sir- Anyways, it happened a lot more than I thought it would. So guys 100% will just start talking to foreigners if they can speak English or want to practice English.
It happens all the time in Hongdae. They only want to sleep with you. They wouldn't approach strange korean women on the street, but they do it with us because they think we are easy and we would open our legs to any korean guy
i understand the cultural meaning and purpose of "oppa" in korean but at the same time, it's a little weird for me because my mom's family is very bavarian (a german ethnicity), and the word for grandfather is "opa" and it's pronounced almost the same way as the korean "oppa". hearing and sayingthe korean oppa always makes me think of the geman opa. specifically my opa who was very old and bald. and it makes it feel weird for me to call anyone under the age of 65 an opa/oppa. i'd rather just say Seonbae or hyung instead of oppa.
Not just that ! Always thought it was so creppy as korean girls call both their order brother and thei boyfriend "oppa" .... like why would ANYONE use the same nickname for both their brother and boyfriend ?!?!? And male friends ?!?!? Makes no sense to me lol
I have no real interest in dating let alone dating in Korea but I always find it interesting to learn about dating culture around the world. It’s so interesting how somethings can be so similar yet so different at the same time, as far as expecting men to pay on the first date I’m honestly not against the idea, it is some thing i’ve become accustomed to BUT I don’t always expect it and I’m more than happy to pay for myself or pay for each other. I also gotta say you looked so stunning in todays video!! Your earrings are absolutely adorable and pink looks so nice on your skin tone! Thanks for another amazing video!!
Thank you for making videos like this showing the real side of dating 🤗 . I’ve been dating since I was 15 and in my experience most men are not that different when it comes to their overall character (obviously cultures and races have different varying internalized behaviours that may separate them from eachother) but most of them are pretty misogynistic and definitely do things to uphold the patriarchal society whether internationally or not. Not to be a negative Nancy but most of them really aren’t much to right home about. For context : I’m a black woman, live in Canada currently but I’ve lived in a few different countries and had experiences with African men , black men in the west, Asian men, Latin men and white men Not much different tbh in terms of shittiness🤷🏽♀️
This is so funny, because I have dated all over the globe as well, watched other couples and have heard from friends in relationships, and I agree, men are not that different. But I would say, there are always the same 5 or so kind of guys, the players, the fuckbois, the serial monogamists, the good eggs and the quiet, shy kind. That means the spread of men who want relationships and are ready to fall in love is about the same, as are the shitty men who lie, play your emotions or are just emotionally stunted. It does help to know some cultural differences, so you don't feel like someone is a creep, if that is just does what he thinks is expected.
Yeah shitty guys everywhere around the globe, but do not despair, a few of them are good. If you can't find one, it's okay, just be alone. no company is better than bad company.
Honestly most guys are good. The problem is that women keep picking the same 5 to 10% guys that are shitty. You think you are too good for the average man and keep going after the fuck boys because they have game. I have NEVeR had a problem finding a great guy. Maybe open your eyes and perhaps instead of thinking that most men are shit that perhaps you just keep picking shitty guys. How arrogant to think that most men are the problem instead of yourself.
Learning any language is not a waste of time ))) helps to prevent Alzheimer's and stuff! Also living in Korea without knowing any Korean is a bit tough ))) I can see how my roommate is struggling and she is supposed to at least know some Korean by now since she is in a language school
Thank you Kelsey I really enjoyed the information. I'm 60 and really want to visit Korea. I would love it if you could talk about dating for older people, and if it's acceptable or not for older people to date.
It is totally acceptable but it is much harder I would say. Old people (not all) often have difficulty adjusting at their age let alone a completely different culture/ language. That's why 1st gen immigrants often have smaller social circle/ connection compared to 2nd or 3rd gen
I think and believe that regardless of Nationality people shouldn't be oozing or expecting something out of a specific group/country because reality is different. And honestly, Nationality does not matter: there will be good and bad ones... what matters is you find someone kind and whom you can find common ground with in terms of maturity, morals, ethics, interests, etc. Love alone is not enough. Be different enough to complement each other but also understand differences, but not so much that it is a cause for lack of harmony.
I want to go to Korea so badly! I love your videos though. You definitely keep it ‘real’ to the point where I can understand EVERYTHING you say. Keep it up!!
One of my coworkers speaks a little Korean because she taught English for several years in Korea, but even after living there she doesn't feel fluent. It seems like a very difficult language. The alphabet is pretty logical and easy to learn at least. Learning languages is good for your brain, and delays or prevents dementia. You don't need a better reason than your health. We sometimes have customers who are Korean. Not as many as Spanish speaking customers but still quite a few. My SIL studies Swedish for her job, and she and my brother got to visit Sweden a few years ago. I had a Norwegian pen pal in high school but I never got around to learning Norwegian. It's supposed to be the easiest language for English speakers to learn. And I like Norwegian dramas, so I might try to learn some Norwegian at some point. I also like Chinese dramas snd I wish I could learn Mandarin too. I need to win the lottery and retire so I can just study languages all day.
I think another big reason why people from the US don’t text all day is because of their job. We either don’t have time to text or, more likely, are not allowed to use personal phones during work hours.
I think it's different fact checking as a korean than actually having a fact check from a foreigners perspective if that makes sense, because dating a korean as a korean, Is different than dating a korean as a foreigner
In my opinion, Kdrama shows reality. At least, it has never sheltered me. Kpop kinda does too. Let's just say Kpop does a good job delivering societal issues in their song messages. You also look at the kpop celebrities, how they have to strive hard for perfection (how extremely important outside perfection and performance is), how crazy hard they have to work, how limited their freedom is, and how strict they have to live and lead their lives. The point is, neither kdrama nor the kpop culture ever made me feel like I was presented an alternative world of fantastical make belief. They actually turned me to be even more a realistic person. I watch kdrama, I listen to the reality experience of the negative side to what it's like to live or date in Korea, and I receive no shock or surprise. When people say reality is nothing like kdrama, I'm always confused like...wdym? To me, kdrama does a good job showcasing bullying, hierarchy, discrimination, classism, not to mention bossy male leads that act arrogant toward women.... I thank kdrama in fact for not sheltering viewers from reality but presenting it as it is.
I think when people refer to Kdrama, they just talk about the romance ones. However, I’ve watched so many others that aren’t revolving around romance. The romance ones do tend to romanticize. However, when I watched Save Me, Law School, Juvenile Justice, The Uncanny Encounter, I learned how bullying is such a huge problem out there. I also learned that child abuse is very prominent along with domestic violence. Save Me spread light to the cult issue out there and there’s a documentary about it on RUclips that I watched that reminded me of that show. I get amazed at how bullies tend to get away with that they do especially if they have a family member in power. But your speaking facts! Idk why people think that all Korean shows don’t touch on the issues in their country. That’s one of the reasons why I love watching it so much because they are not afraid to critique their own society! People just need to expand their genres if they’re going to watch kdramas 😊
I do have to say that maybe not all Kshows, but some really show reality and made me think of boeing a better person. Like for ex. I Like the way they show getting old with no filter- how it is TK take care of elderly person, sick person, dementia etc. I feel western culture stays away from such topić as much as possible
Learned a lot from this! My cousin used to date a korean man before. He was cute and all but very patronizing. So, before worse comes to worst my cousin broke up with him.
Ahahahah I'm terribly scared of men bc of some trauma, so I might not be dating in a good while if ever, but im still gonna watch this bc I'm looking into language classes in korea and saving up money for that. I'm interested in allll the aspects of being in korea and meeting people there, in good and bad.
@@low_etc I'm not the spokesperson for introverts or anything, but as an introvert I couldn't handle someone bugging me that often in the day. I definitely prefer texting to calls, but interaction is still interaction and it's still draining (even if it's less draining than calls/in person chatting). I'd break up with that person before lunch if they try to text all day like that.
@kelseythekorean I may have to go work in South Korea next year, I am 43 single mom. They say that because I'm not only a foreigner and a single mom Korean men will never ever date me. Plus I'm latina and I don't know why they think latinas are easy and this is so not true.
I didn't realize calling a slightly older guy oppa was such a big deal in Korea when I asked my platonic Korean male friend if I could call him oppa. I thought 'oppa' had a more 'older brother' like meaning so I thought it was okay to use it when addressing guys who were older than me but not old enough to be called 'samchon' or 'ajusshi'. Didn't know oppa took on a whole different meaning in Korean culture whoops 😳. Also I'm Vietnamese and it's pretty normal to call guys slightly older than you 'older brother', even to strangers (In Vietnamese, that term is 'anh'). Didn't know that didn't apply to Korean culture 😓
It’s sad it evolved to that point. Pretty much every Asian language has a word like what oppa originally meant. It’s just the meaning got twisted and warped so much due to popular media that the connotation has changed so drastically
And it really depends in the person. I have one male Korran friend who I have known for years, but I would never call him 오빠! Obviously it depends on the person, because I also know a different male Korean friend who is comfortable with with that term of address. So it's best to ask the person themselves.
As a woman in the United States it's pretty common to be approached by men (and some woman) generally it's more common mostly because it's normal to strike up small talk with strangers.
This video feels like going back to the time with just more asthetic background and more and more experiences with everything and everyone. Hope you doing well.. ✨✨ love you Kelsey...!!!
The whole "Oppa/Daddy" thing has always creeped me out! As for future videos, I'm would love to see videos debunking any myths having to do with South Korea.
I'm a mixed girl from Russia who has dated quite a few korean people (not just men) because I grew up with a large Korean community of friends. I never understood why people would date someone just because they are a certain ethnicity or nationality. I hated when people would say they wanted to date me just because I was mixed. It gives me the ick. But anyways, my general consensus is that Korean people are lovely however sometimes they move really fast and that makes me uncomfortable. I don't want them to love me in a few days. That was the problem with a few of my relationships. They were good people and I have no problems with dating a Korean person again. Everyone is unique and different. I prefer Korean dating style more than Russian dating style. And Russian men tend to be a lot more traditionally masculine in a bad way.
I've never dated a Korean guy but I'm not against it. Never had problems with ethnicity or nationality. I totally got you! I don't like it too when people love or like someone just because of looks or are moving extremely fast in a relationship. It scares the s..t out of me especially because I'm a little introverted and need a lot of time to process a situation.
I feel like "oppa" is the equivalent of "papi" in Spanish. "Papi" (English for daddy) is an informal / sweet and / or common way of addressing your dad but in some Spanish-speaking countries it can also be used with your male significant other. The problem is, some men fetishize it and it's quite cringey. But then again, in other cases is sweet like when my mom calls my dad 🤣
Love the video! Could you do one just as informative on clubbing in South Korea? I might be moving there soon and am worried bc the guys in the UK are pretty respectful and I’ve heard that Korean guys can get aggressive and creepy when they’re in the club. Thanks for being so factual in your videos!!
KoreaChan on RUclips did a video about how to avoid the bad guys in Korea and where to go to meet someone nicer -- he said the upscale bars where foreigners tend to gather are better. He also said there would be some guy going around chatting up the girls, and there would be some shy guys with him, I guess he would be their wingman. He said the shy guys should be the ones you should be interested in.
Queer community specific: Would these observations apply to approaching and dating older queer Korean men (Age 50-70yrs) ? Or are Queer community protocols different?
I watch a lot of K dramas and the guys all seem really immature, conservative and almost childish in the romance department. These people in their 20s swooning over holding hands and a peck on the lips!!! And saying "I like you" is SUPER serious.
Ah yes, the world doesn't work as per western degenerate standards. Don't want the thousands of step parents and messed up children. The audacity of y'all westoids to think y'all are some superior in the dating manner. Piling up huge body counts. West is a sociopathic society
That's not immaturity it's just because they're Conservative and cultural differences. In Korea you become an adult at 19 which is later than western countries of 18. Also most people there actually consider adult age as 20.
7:01, I don't know if that is more like nagging, detective work or acting like a mother does with a child in over monitoring a person. In this new age with cell phones, it can be like an obsessive form of behavior like a boss over managing their workers
Fun fact: ‘Oppa’ sounds like ‘Opa’ in my language (dutch). Which means grandfather. I personally would never use this word in the context some Koreans do. It doesn't sound right to me 😅
This is why Chinese men are my savior I dated a Korean guy and he would always fat shame me and call me lazy. Never noped the hell outta a relationship so fast. The same with Japanese men. I’m currently dating a Chinese boy now and he loves every singl thing about me I’m happy :D
Chinese men in general are better than the korean men lmao, korean men are overrated and sexism, I don't say than Chinese are not same because there a lot dating violence here among Chinese couple but it's less worst than korean while they have 1milliard people in their country unlike korea with 70 million but their man still worst
Me: currently learning Korean (3 weeks in so far) And also speaks limited Svenska (because my grandpa is Swedish) ...randomly finds this video and am like, subscribe, this girl is awesome!!
I was sort of dating a Korean guy. I live in Colorado, US and he was in South Korea. We broke up, but he did tell me he preferred his woman to approach him first. That went for ALL situations. Talking, flirting, date nights
I’m learning korean cause i truly love the language and think it’s so beautiful and complex and the history of it’s origin by king sejong is so romantic. If i ever get the chance to date a korean women, that would be a cool experience. I wonder what the culture difference would be like, but then again i have no dating experience so either way I’ll just get use to it probably lol
I m also a korean language student, pursuing my intermediate level 😊. I also think that it's one of the beautiful languages out there. And the history is also interesting.
@@mansi9543 don't learn Korean. Please don't believe what you see in Kdrama Koreans'view on Indians is not that good. They are all racists . They hate us. if happen don t date a korean girl for the " cool experience ". Be serious with her. This is the same shit korean men say about foreigner women about the ' exotic experience' and they hate that ofc.
Hello I am a western European girl and first time i went to Korea in 2021 for tourism 10 days i have met a korean boy, for chance in a Karaoke Noreaebang, we talked a lot and he has asked me a date like friends, we had first date after 3 days and he tooks me in a Cafè in day in Gangnam and then he asked me second date and i went to that and during second date he told me he liked me a lot and liked my mind also. He never tried to kiss me or sleep with me, and i find out he was a really really good person, he is an engineer and for passion sings and dance hiphop and breakdance. Then happened that i had to leave and back in my country Rome Italy, and he came at the airport and asked me to be his forever one. I thought was a joke in the beginning because i heard stories about korean men that plays with European girls because think we're easy, but as long as we talked and say goodbye for my way back home i understood he really had a real interest on me. So i said we start to be friends first and know each other, so for 4 months we were that good friends and one day he asked me my 4 finger measure, so i gave him and after 1 month he buyed for us couple rings, after six months dating he bought me Diamonds necklace and ring and asked me to marry. Well in April 2021 we got married and he is the best man i have ever met in my life, his mom loves me so much and his dad also and his brother and nephews and to make his mom proud of me because i am orphan remained of family, i am in a Korean School in Italy to study korean language and when will be finished after 9 months i will go to Yonsei University in Seoul to follow my goal in Korean language. At least i changed my opinion about korean men, I think not all the men are the same, as well as in Europe then in Korea: men are different anywhere there is the good one and the bad one like happened to a friend of mine to be used by her Korean boyfriend that played her. Most depends by situation and destiny! I wish to all to find the real love of their life and be happy not even if the boy is Korean, Chinese, Arab, Polland, or another country, what is more important is love and respect for each other and for family of each other, and to know both culture is important also because will help you to live a great relationship from now to the future and respecting each other mind. Wish you luck all the way ..... stay happy always and thanks for sharing all the informations 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
Oh I was so happy to read suh a beautiful story ❤ May God always keep you happy and in love ❤️ even though I've never loved, but I like hearing about real love. It makes me have faith in humanity. What a beautiful story ❤ Thanks for sharing.
Currently dating a Korean guy for almost 2 years, and I started learning Korean seriously 2 months ago, and met his parents but mannn Korean is difficult irl lol
I’m glad ive never fallen victim to believing stuff like this. It’s just common sense to not put anybody on a high standard until they’ve proven their worthy.
wdym became fetishized? The only thing that became fetishized is when foreign girls started saying it. Other than that it was always used in a sexual manner especially between Korean couples. Of course, 오빠 has many uses but Koreans were using it in a sexual way long before foreign girls knew it even existed.
It's pretty obvious that romance is not so much a part of our daily lives as it is in dramas. That's probably why they are popular. What I want to know is "are Korean people really so open-minded and accepting of their partner's (especially female) past relationships as shown in K-dramas!"
@@sushilsharma4202 In India, the obsession with women's virginity is inversely proportional to education. I was expecting a reply from someone who has lived there and observed the society like me.
I certainly wouldn't be against the "paying on the 1st date" and the lack of fear and annoyance with texting. Although the texting I would prefer to a lesser extent, I really don,t need to know that you just finished breakfast or what you ate lolll unless it was something special and amazing.
So I live in the states. And I was at a Starbucks in a bookstore and I was sitting at my table on my phone texting a friend. Not South Korea related, but I live in a community where there's a lot of very attractive Korean men. Anyways he was sitting at the table next to me and kept smiling at me. I am a very nice person too. I guess I give off good vibes towards strangers. But I was sitting there he asks out of the blue, what kind of drink I got? I never been approached like that before. I was like a Chai latte and he started talking to me. Then he was like you are very pretty. I felt awkward like, I was just like thanks. I didn't know if I should've stayed or talked with him more it was a bit awkward for me. But I liked the attention lol.
Texting every hour or so! lol!!! I'm Asian, not even Korean grow up in the US, my husband the same, we've been together for 20 plus years and we still call and text each other asking what are you doing. not to the extreme, but checking in I guess. :)
Lol when she was taking about breaking up and you now having learned a useless language…me? I was learning Romanian for my ex as a surprise… now I just have that talent at the back of my resume lol😅
Alot of people think that the US is the epitome of western culture, IT ISN'T. Other English speaking countries look at the US & deem them to be ignorant, loud, dumb & pushy. Not all Americans of course. Europe & the UK have a rich history & culture, America is considered a baby with a society that is not even 300 hundred years old & no culture of its own. Its cultural identity is stolen from other nationalities. The only true culture the US has, belongs to the Indigenous Americans. Even NZ culture is older, having been settled by Polynesians between 1200 & 1300 AD.
Totally agree- not all western countries. In the UK we have fairly tight street harassment laws and if you bother people you could get arrested. ln Nottingham it is seen as: "misogyny is a hate crime." So I think walking up to someone in the street is an american thing....
Communication is key yes, but it entails more than just casual questions, but ultimately both party need to enjoy the conversation and know that you can have boundaries too. Not every single day you're in the mood to text or converse with your love one, at least not every 2 hrs 😅 but sometimes you do and that's fine 😉.
Watching this our pf curiosity. About the "oppa" perspective: instinctively, I too disliked this term. I don't sprak Korean, I watch K-vlogs and K-dramas , and when this word came up... Something in me shuddered. So I feel Kelsey on this, without any experience eith Korean people, just hearing the word and seeing it used in context.
That is like the man in kdrama how they take care of you and text you every second of the day to us women women know that they’re thinking about us. It’s also some realistic to it. I like it that ways I don’t want the tradition to fade away. I love it the traditional way. Korean rules are better
I'l fail that anniversary part 'cause 1. I have a bad memory! & 2. That's so annoying!being reminded how long we r 2gether is gonna make me say "100 days! Uh to long see ya!! Ha!
It could have to do with the fact that I've been single so long, but the thought of texting so much stresses me out. 😅 I'm so used to having my personal space.
The rich koreans from on normal korean people too marry their children. The older rich koreans will find loads of strategy to avoid et stop forbidden weddings with their children. They won't give up et continue to block your path. This is based on a true story from my experience. Others may differ.
so interesting, thank you dear. But I am really wondering about sth...I always hear that koreans are really hardworking and work a lot. But how can you text someone that frequently?? When I work, then I'm really working and don't look at my phone 😅🤔
They asked you out because you looked like a local! This concept applies to the obvious races, they are very shy. I experienced the same in Japan and China!
Hello Kelsey. I really like your videos and how you talk about different subjects. So I like to know about violence against women, because they always say that South Korea is a very safe country. I'm Brazilian and here every day we have terrible news about all types of riding, no age limit... I intend to go to study in Korea next year and I want to know if I will really feel safe because I don't feel safe in Brazil ! Thank you for making realistic videos, you do an excellent job, besides being fun😜😜😜
Can you please tell me what can I call someone older than me(for boy) instead of oppa? You know I'm learning korean and my teacher said you should call oppa who is older than you in korea.
You really should only call guys you are close to Oppa, but their name +씨, 님, you can even call someone 선생님 in a non teacher context. But if you're friends, calling them by their name, and saying 너 is not really a big deal.
Just like someone already said, if you don't want to sai Oppa you can use his full name/ surname + 씨 confidently without doubts, some Korean guys they feel bothered if you are younger and you use only their first name to call them even if you add the 씨 together!!! So if you are not confident call him by his surname or full name!!!!
19:00 if you’re going to live in Korea you have to learn Korean. The end. Everything else is lazy and entitled. If you’re staying in a country for more than a year you should put in the effort to learn that country’s language.

Just a little fact, chivalry is pronounced ˈSHivəlrē, the ch sounds like sh, like in sheet or shoes.

Yeah
I think it was his parents that made him give up, you deserved better anyways. Hope you are able to move on.

Similar things happened throughout my time there, dudes would just strike up conversations or sometimes immediATEly ask for my Kakao and I would be like sir-
Anyways, it happened a lot more than I thought it would. So guys 100% will just start talking to foreigners if they can speak English or want to practice English.
as I actually live in hongdae area this actually surprises me.. lol because I honestly wouldn't say this is common in Korea.
Same.

For context : I’m a black woman, live in Canada currently but I’ve lived in a few different countries and had experiences with African men , black men in the west, Asian men, Latin men and white men
Not much different tbh in terms of shittiness🤷🏽♀️
It's true
Honestly most guys are good. The problem is that women keep picking the same 5 to 10% guys that are shitty. You think you are too good for the average man and keep going after the fuck boys because they have game. I have NEVeR had a problem finding a great guy. Maybe open your eyes and perhaps instead of thinking that most men are shit that perhaps you just keep picking shitty guys. How arrogant to think that most men are the problem instead of yourself.

You like Norwegian dramas ?! Oh great ! You watched Skam ?!
I woud say that it is more difficult due to the grammar than alphabet

I'm so glad someone else thinks this, thank you for sharing
@@zoayloves2144 well said. Thanks.

Really? I went to Korea a few months ago and I called this older boy oppa and I kinda cringed but I thought it was a respect thing

Oppa has been fetished too...like Daddy...its sad when customs change like this...

Great video! I'm curious if I need to worry when I visit the ladies room in Korea? Are cameras still a thing?
If u believe this girl, u will believe everything.
I’m glad ive never fallen victim to believing stuff like this. It’s just common sense to not put anybody on a high standard until they’ve proven their worthy.
Thanks kelsey for giving us information about your culture its really interesting to learn about it 💜
So gross imo how "Daddy" and "Oppa" became fetishized, when people say them in a sexual way it's SO cringy 😖
wdym became fetishized? The only thing that became fetishized is when foreign girls started saying it. Other than that it was always used in a sexual manner especially between Korean couples. Of course, 오빠 has many uses but Koreans were using it in a sexual way long before foreign girls knew it even existed.
Kanalıma davetlisiniz 🙏 🇹🇷
Okay and? Then dont use it. But the kink community doesn't need to cater to you. We don't care.
i mean koreans say it in sexual ways all the time. do u think a girl who calls her boyfriend oppa all the time suddenly
stops during sex? lol
So basically what she says is Korean men are just men…..
Yaay finally someone talking about the Oppa word. I feel international girls go overboard with it, to the point that I cringe.
So basically it is like dating men western type countries. Only difference is the multiple "anniversary" celebrations.
When you mature enough realised drama in drama they act not real.you see bcz u want to feel that it.
Wow, I think I'd go crazy if my husband texted me every hour 😅
since you said you've been on a lot of dates, I'm curious to know what koreans think about women who have dated a lot lol
your hair looks so healthy!! i love the fact that you let it grow, it looks beautiful 🫶🏻
off topic but you look so pretty!!
Very interesting. Thank u 4 the information.❤️ Valentines Day isn't celdbrated in Germany....very sad :-(
I am a Syrian fan 🇸🇾❤️
I think you are doing a great job by telling people the facts of living or things in Korea..
Keep going 🙏🔥🔥
It's pretty obvious that romance is not so much a part of our daily lives as it is in dramas. That's probably why they are popular. What I want to know is "are Korean people really so open-minded and accepting of their partner's (especially female) past relationships as shown in K-dramas!"
Very few men on the planet are accepting of a woman's past relationships.
It depends on how they were too
@@sushilsharma4202 In India, the obsession with women's virginity is inversely proportional to education.
Do you have a video that talks about dating Korean girls?😊
Do you not see Korean men as racially inferior
Texting every hour or so! lol!!! I'm Asian, not even Korean grow up in the US, my husband the same, we've been together for 20 plus years and we still call and text each other asking what are you doing. not to the extreme, but checking in I guess. :)
I am kinda adamant to split the bill, or pay every other time. Sometimes the guy thinks you owe them...I don't owe anyone, I pull my own 'weight '.
Native Americans have been in the area that is now the US for far longer than Polynesians have been in New Zealand, though..
Totally agree- not all western countries. In the UK we have fairly tight street harassment laws and if you bother people you could get arrested. ln Nottingham it is seen as: "misogyny is a hate crime." So I think walking up to someone in the street is an american thing....
Thank you for your honesty!
Tbh the constant texting sound annoying but i guess u can send mid tiktoks too so not the worse thing ever
That's why i don't watch kdrama cause its full of lies it's enjoyable watching for fun but don't expect that it's really happened in rl
Not different from Hollywood movies.
@Shelly like Hollywood movies.
@Shelly yeah
@Shelly 👍
@Shelly 😊
Wooow her glow. Is someone commenting about her beauty.
Yesssss new video ❤️
so interesting, thank you dear.
Thank you for making realistic videos, you do an excellent job, besides being fun😜😜😜
go to uk men there are more safe
Can you please tell me what can I call someone older than me(for boy) instead of oppa? You know I'm learning korean and my teacher said you should call oppa who is older than you in korea.
You really should only call guys you are close to Oppa, but their name +씨, 님, you can even call someone 선생님 in a non teacher context. But if you're friends, calling them by their name, and saying 너 is not really a big deal.
@@allysparks4778 Thank you for your help💚💚
Just like someone already said, if you don't want to sai Oppa you can use his full name/ surname + 씨 confidently without doubts, some Korean guys they feel bothered if you are younger and you use only their first name to call them even if you add the 씨 together!!! So if you are not confident call him by his surname or full name!!!!
"we don't usually date in high school, we just study".....the kdrama/kpop industry right now: u right now: O_O
19:00 if you’re going to live in Korea you have to learn Korean. The end. Everything else is lazy and entitled. If you’re staying in a country for more than a year you should put in the effort to learn that country’s language.
At least chivalry still exist in Korea when it doesn’t in America anymore. High standards doesn’t exist anymore in America. Standards doesn’t exist at all anymore in America. Respecting elders and have self respect doesn’t exist anymore in America.
I completely agree with you. I'm American and no longer have any interest in dating an American man. They're too bland and cold for my taste when it comes to romance to be honest.
this is true and one reason my standard is different. I dont date American men for the most part because of this.
You westoids are responsible for it.
Y'all have made your culture extremely sociopathic and are facing its consequences. Piling up huge body counts and then expecting old school relationships. Like y'all are 🤡
But when someone actually tries to argue y'all call them backwards, conservative, etc😂
Kelsey here giving us the "REAL DEAL "👍 thanks. And the constant texting or messaging is kinda cute and sweet but for me it's ok if you don't give me updates with everything ur up too. And the 'oppa' calling is a Big no and hearing it from a Korean who thinks it's super Weird 😂😂 for me and it's super weird and gross so it's a no-no 😝😂 😂😂 LMAO.... And paying after dates it's cool but I'll prefer for we both to split it👍...... PS, Pink really looks good on you 😊😘💗💖💕
11:30 I don’t like the word oppa either because it’s so fetishised.
Okay I LOVE YOU GIRL ❤️❤️❤️💕.
where do you buy your earrings?
When 2x playback speed isn't fast enough.
Pessimist = optimist with experience 😉
I agree
Oppa in german means grandfather it is funny to say this to a young man
