@@nt5865 people say that too, but it's a relatively new phrase! It's more for if you want someone to come over to your house and hook up (have sex) but "come over for coffee" has been said for a long time and is usually said after a date 👍
I was shocked, not a comfy sofa, but a bed! Umm obviously those rooms are either for boys who live with their Mama & have no privacy or they don't want to take you home because Mama will think you 1st date means you want to marry her. ;)
Chan, you forgot norebang. Ladies, guys will try to get at you if you go to norebang / karaoke just the two of you. Avoid unless you can see inside of the rooms from the outside. That way he will not press up on you. Men will also say "Let's go to motel to rest." Korea is full of 24 hour cafes. Look for a Holly's Cafe or other large cafe. Stay until the trains start running at 6am. Be very careful ladies. Korea, overall, is safe. However, night culture can be a bit predatory Edit: Dont take cabs at night, especially solo, if you have been drinking. Find a Holly's Cafe or another cafe that is 24 hours and stay until the subway opens. Additional Edit: Foreign women can/ have been sexually assaulted by cab drivers. As a foreigner, if a Korean person does something wrong the police will not protect you. @@cche16 I went back to visit friends last year and found it funny that certain people were hesitant to hangout together. Long story short, my friend explained the group split into 2 and 2. She and one of their friends met two guys. One offered to take her friend for ice cream. She was focused on her own guy and let her drunk friend go. Her friend got raped in an alley. Needless to say when she told me this story, I was shocked- and not surprised they stopped talking to her. I myself was side eyeing her. I was actually surprised by the bed/sofa...
Hidden Star tbh that question seems the most tame. Its the same as if an american guy is trying to get your number on the street because youre pretty. Maybe hes looking for a girlfriend or maybe hes looking for sex
A guy once asked me “Do u want to eat some ramen?” n I answered “Been eating ramen since the day i came , what about tteokbokki ?” He then started laughing out loud 😂
I would just want my noodles! I got into a situation like this once - I went on a vacation with my friends and we made a lovely lasagne but we didn't have time to eat it before we went to the club. After the club, we couldn't get a taxi so these guys offered to walk us back to our lodge. We were terrified but they were really kind and didn't kill us. We invited them in for some lasagne and they thought it was a euphemism for you know what! The lasagne was delicious but I think they were slightly disappointed that it was all they were getting!
But tbh, in hk asking someone if they're Russian isn't usually code for sex. If they ask it with a creepy look then ya prolly... But in general no. I've lived in hk for many years, and a lot of people ask if I'm Russian because I have Eastern European/German ancestry, and I think Russia is just the largest most recognizable Eastern European country - kinda like how in Canada or the States there's a tendency to assume all Asians are Chinese. It depends on your features though, if you look more Western European they'd probably ask if you were British or sth. When I was in Harbin, in NE China, people would actually speak Russian to me because there is a lot of Russian influence in that city. In China or Taiwan generally white=American, but in the north where it's close to Russia you could get either. But in general I find Asians think white ppl are easy, and our culture "open".....not my favourite stereotype (not to mention extremely hypocritical, as Asians are no prudes, and definately get around)...but there it is
@@katherinetutschek4757 I lived in southern China for a while and there being Russian was code for prostitutes especially in business areas so I just assumed it was the same in Hong Kong 😂

As a Russian i feel insulted hearing about this association. No matter where you from, it doesn't make you anyone but person. And it's really sad do know that there's a place where i may feel awkward just for being from a certain country.
Unfortunately the "word" is spread everywhere in the world, and if it makes you not feel alone in this, as a black Italian, African ladies are seen almost the same as Russian ladies. Jst because they see them on the streets or hear stereotypes, many don't understand the fake act they must build up and the struggle behind this hard choice to survive and get somewhere
I can understand. I must feel arkward :/ i am not russian...but what kind of a bullshit unrespectfull „pick up line“ is that?😤 Next time someone asks me that in korea i will tell them that it is unrespectfull on so many levels. I promise.

Good responses if a guy is creepy: "Do you like korean guys?" "Why, do you?" "Are you Russian?" "No. Why, are you?" "Do you want to eat ramen?" "I ain't eating no man's noodles tonight, sunshine." I spent a few months in Seoul because of my job. I am in my early 30 and with curves so not their ideal target. That's what i though at least... I was socialized with many people and the matured korean guys are something else!! I had to be really careful because they hit on you hard. What happened was when she moved to Korea after a few months she met a guy on Tinder (probably mistake #1). When they finally decided to meet up (first time they met in person) they hung out for most of the day. In the evening they had dinner and then he asked her if she wanted to see "a" movie in the DVD room. She assumed (mistake #2) that the DVD room was like a Karaoke room (noraebang). So she asked him how were they going to watch the movie 🤣 and he was already half-way out of his clothes 🤣🤣. She told him that while she liked him, they had just met and she was not going to be doing THAT just yet. Well, of course his night did not go as planned. They left AND SHE NEVER HEARD FROM HIM EVER AGAIN.

So true, guys are guys. I'm not naive and I've had guys text me knowing I was young. A few days ago this guy texted me, and I that's never really had anyone text me out of the blue so I wanted to do a social experience and see how guys can deceive girls. Let's just say I got upset quick lol, I went off on him and told him my dad was a cop ahhaha! He blocked me immediately and I reported him. This guy even knew my age and he still said he wanted to *get to know me* (so typical 🙄) and then I replied *knowing I'm young, you would still talk to me?* he clearly got caught and said *ok, see you* 💀 he was scared lol. Also this other guy texted me again, like danggg idc. I dont know why guys do things like this, keep it to yourself 🙄

While I see what you mean I've lived in a lot of different countries and hook up culture varies greatly from country to country. Korea or Japan they have this thing where they almost have to lure it out of you but in general there's a lot of sex goi g on. Where I live now is literally sooo dry compared to other places I've lived. Even people who wanna sleep around just don't really meet anyone down for that cuz its way more closed and appropriate.
“Teach me English” is the equivalent to guys messaging “where’s my plate?” when you post a pic of what you cooked or are eating on social media 😂 I wonder what’s their “Hey big head”. Lol
Omg yes was asked number 6 "Are you Russian?" so many times when I lived in Korea and at first I had no idea what it meant so I was just like uhh no? He was so awkward and then went... "its kind of code for prostitute....." me "oooooooh o.o"
Take it as a compliment, it also means they find you beautiful/attractive. Korean men think Russian women are very beautiful. But yeah, it’s both an insult and a compliment, insult because of the mail order bride/prostitution thing, but compliment because they think you’re pretty.
@@begformeowcy i still don't think I'll take being asked if I'm a prostitute as a compliment. There have been older men following me asking if I'm Russian and 'how much' I cost when I was simply going home from school so tbh it's not really much of a compliment
I know right? It makes much more sense in my mind for them to ask if a person is from the netherlands. As we are associated with tulips and the red neighbourhood. When I think of Russia i think of vodka, bears and putin, not easy ladies 😅

Same here sis. Actually, I knew about that derogatory term they like to associate us with(can't believe I'd have to name it like that but.. ) from way back since 2009,I was 18 at that time and was curious to know about the bad and the good. I read it on some girl's blog and quite frankly was really disappointed but I've decided to not step my foot down there since then. It's a shame because I'm interested to know more about their culture(I understand basic Korean and can read it too),I've visited Japan couple of times because of a relative who lives there(she's married) and I could've EASILY bought a cheap ticket to S.Korea while I was in Japan but I don't want to due to the simple and enraging fact of how they associate "Russian" with a "prostitute",it's insane, it actually blows my mind..with anger. I read about Korean history and like to listen to some of their musicians, watch some of their dramas. To keep things concise, I admire Korea...from afar.

True that you can spot a russian chick from a mile, but....this is insanity. Just because someone told someone a story or two about a couple being there, doesn't make all of them one. That's just dumb. In general i've heard multiple times that Korean guys see white girls as an easy catch. You have to be cautious around them, just to be safe...I mean korean women themselves don't have it easy there, that tells you a lot about the majority of the male population.

What he saying is true. Haha I've been to Busan and these men look like models! Some are play boys and some are really sweet. My ex is Korean. He treated me like a princess. That's what made me even more interested in Korean culture and he taught me Korean. We taught each other how to cook our culture dishes. We parted on good terms. F.Y.I. Don't believe when ppl say asian men, especially korean men, are all small. Far from true. Haha
Agreed, the men in Busan are very physically attractive. Very high ratio of ‘hots’ and very few ‘nots’ 😂. And the ‘small’ stereotype is not true at all, I’ve had so many female friends ask me this 😣. I explain how it’s honestly dependent on the guy (not racial) and it’s proportional to the rest of them. Korean guys especially are quite tall and well built, so no idea where foreign girls get the four inch thing from 😂.
I've seen people tell that koreans in general see white girls as an easy catch, so.... yeah. But then again, korean girls don't have it easy either, not sure what else can you expect, when a nation doesn't respect their own women.
These are so true! When in Seoul for a few weeks I had one Korean guy ask me if I wanted to go to a DVD bang and because I knew what that meant I moped right out of the conversation. The other men were very polite and stuck with asking me out to very public places or to things that involved a group of people. Beware of ramen and DVD bang requests. Heck don’t even go to a karaoke room unless you are going with one or two people you know also being present. If a guys asks you to a group outing or something like a cafe he’s typically a good guy and will be a gentleman.

However, night culture can be a bit predatory
Edit: Dont take cabs at night, especially solo, if you have been drinking. Find a Holly's Cafe or another cafe that is 24 hours and stay until the subway opens.
Additional Edit: Foreign women can/ have been sexually assaulted by cab drivers. As a foreigner, if a Korean person does something wrong the police will not protect you.
I have not been active on my YT for a very long time, but I may do a video about this issue once I get a break in the fall. It'll help y'all plan for summer 2021.
BrownGirl, ColorStruckWorld! Not all guys are like that with the norebangs. They love karaoke here.
they definitely take advantage of the foreign women. make sure you stay with a group of other foreign women and don't separate from them!
These girls dont even know the half of nightlife in Korea as a foreign woman.

I got asked if I was Russian when I was on holiday in Hong Kong and I just told the man he couldn't afford me
That was very fresh. But such men do not understand another language.
😂😂😂😂 awesome response

British can't tell apart Russians from Polish so why Koreans must do better? Besides many ppl actually pretend being Russians, I know 2 Americans who say it's much easier for them to get through by pretending being Russian.
As a Russian i feel insulted hearing about this association. No matter where you from, it doesn't make you anyone but person. And it's really sad do know that there's a place where i may feel awkward just for being from a
certain country.

In the evening they had dinner and then he asked her if she wanted to see "a" movie in the DVD room. She assumed (mistake #2) that the DVD room was like a Karaoke room (noraebang). NO ONE had told her about the DVD ROOM. When they got to the place and went in she said there was nothing in the room except a lamp, a tv and a BED 🤣. So she asked him how were they going to watch the movie 🤣 and he was already half-way out of his clothes 🤣🤣. I'm also Norwegian living in Korea. I got asked this a lot too, it was kinda shocking when I found out the meaning, haha
There have been older men following me asking if I'm Russian and 'how much' I cost when I was simply going home from school so tbh it's not really much of a compliment
norwegian squaaaddd. aww i've always wanted to visit korea. how was it?
@@tinejohansensolberg4172 Korea er et fint land :) spesielt for studenter. Tar bacheloren min her, anbefaler på det sterkeste :)
And how can I answer if I'm really Russian? It’s so offensive when my nationality is associated with prostitution.
I know right?
It makes much more sense in my mind for them to ask if a person is from the netherlands. As we are associated with tulips and the red neighbourhood.
When I think of Russia i think of vodka, bears and putin, not easy ladies 😅
отвечай с гордостью, что ты русская. мне тоже обидно, что в корее с нами такая ассоциация. но в то же время я верю в разумных людей, которые не смешивают всю страну с гавном, глядя на людей, выбравших проституцию в качестве заработка.
@aliah park ballet originated in France in the 1600’s and made its way to Russia later on☺️
I know i'm from Colombia and it's so annoying they be thinking that about every woman and... also drugs :/
You just learn to live with it by turning everyone who thinks that way down.
You know, for a place where openly talking about sex is taboo, y'all got so many buildings with rentable rooms for 'private' alone time. 👀👀 How interesting. All we have where I live are hotels and motels and they're expensive since you would have to rent a room for an entire day. (I live near Boston in the US)
That's because most people still live with their parents so there is no private space at home.

Wow... you know what sucks? When you’re an open minded Russian and they ask you that 😑😑😑 Just shoot me now.
@@NK-rf4db It's still safer than most countries in the world. And they know not all Russians are prostitutes over there. But yeah no country is ideal.
@@KM-gp2yz "It's safer than most countries.." why geez thank you so much..currently we're talking about Korea and not "other countries" so stay focused on the currernt topic! and what do you mean "N-o-t A-L-L Russians are pro*******"????? what the hell?? are you serious?
@@NK-rf4db I'm saying they don't assume all Russians are prostitutes. This is mostly the older generation with some few perverts. Not something that should deter you from visiting a country imo.
@@NK-rf4db I find it a very awfully bad taste to stereotype one nation's women as prostitutes.... That's stereotyping on a whole new level.

Haha
Omg girl you killed me with that FYI!! It's very much appreciated!👀👀👀♥️♥️♥️

Wow...this video was worth!! He's telling us so nicely like a friend who cares for us tells..😄😄
But is this not the same everywhere?
Let's watch this 👀Edit: "I don't remember the price" sooo....you've been in a DVD bang before 👀🤣 Funny that I knew all of these lol.
