Dorothy singing "what'll I do" gives me a chill.... Amazing... 🤩🤗
Yes. My absolute favourite. There's a youtube clip on just that. I go watch it whenever I feel like it.
YES! That was most beautiful version I've ever heard and so well performed by Bea. I have always regretted she never recorded this song on an album anywhere. But that scene, at least in my view, should have been an Emmy award winning moment. She knows how to convey such emotion and whimsy in her singing. Truly a wonderful moment.
It's a wonderful example of just how beautiful an alto voice can be
Bea was a powerful singer!!
@@StoptheInsanityofRegressivism she was on Broadway before she was on tv I always loved to hear her sing
"Miami you're cuter than an intrauterine" is a such a bop tho
@Eu Doar Eu give her all the awards
True...
Right? I want the rest of the lyrics written!
WHAT
Straight BARS!

-The girls: Mr. Sandman.
-Dorothy: YES
I love Dorothy's voice ❤️
1954. The Chordettes,
Was popular when I was a kid and we had just moved form Brooklyn to Queens.
I do too ! Never fails to put a smile on my face at that part 😂☺️
I love Bea voice too it is the best❤
Dorothy’s “BABE…. I got you BABE” gets me everytime
One of the best comedy scenes on tv, ever
Sophia: Poor, lonely, turkey lurkey.....poor, dateless, self basting turkey lurkey...
Dorothy: Ma😡
🤣🤣😅
I never noticed ‘self basting’ and its my fave episode 😂😂😂 omg ! guess im always laughing too hard at that point
“Self-basting” takes me tf out 😂😂😂
I love Sophia singing Thanks for the Medicare. 🤣
I memorized that the first time I heard it and had no idea what Medicare was. I still like singing it🤣

Golden Girls Is Still One Of The Funniest Series Of All Time
Miami is nice so I say it thrice lol
@@quinneishahood2259 Miami is nice Is One Of The Best Songs On Golden Girls For My Opinion
@@quinneishahood2259 Thrice? Who the hell says thrice?
@@12Blueace I was mocking Rose! Listen close you'll hear it lol
@@quinneishahood2259 yes, I know and I was quoting Dorothy insulting Rose about her suggestion.
Bea and Betty are trained singers, I guess. They both have lovely voices.
Bea Arthur had her share of musicals in her hey day! No surprise there but unknown about Betty White!
Yes they were.
@@moonlightfalcon7038 Betty had a variety show, in the 50's, and sang, a lot.
@@moonlightfalcon7038 Betty was actually studying to be an opera singer before she got big on TV!
So where just gonna ignore Rue singing “I Wanna be Loved by You” and Estelle singing “Thanks for the Medicare”
dorothy singing what'll i do was a very much needed moment for her character. throughout this season the jokes about her looks and her inability to find men were absurdly higher than any other seasons, but this scene squashes over all of it and puts dorothy in a situation that takes her already established talent for singing and pumps it up ten fold; in this moment she is finally given a raw and earnest moment to show her elegance, her poise, and her beauty - this scene is hers, she is the main attraction of this scene; nullifying any jabs at her beauty from up until this point. it's gratifying when the character who is always picked on gets their time to truly glow. this scene BELONGED to dorothy, it was beauty, it was elegance, it was justice for her character.
Also what I really liked about that scene was the pianist was really kind & inviting, giving Dorothy the opportunity & encouraging her as she started to sing. The whole scene was just so well done. :)
@soreaphine9955 Love your words. So true!
@@bronzeoliniisnotfunny7885: She had such a beautiful singing voice!!
Sometimes people forget that Rue wasn't really a slut, Betty wasn't really dumb, and Estelle wasn't really that old. But, the jabs at Dorothy's looks, it was really how Bea looked. I'd hope she never took any of it personal, but it did sadden me a bit that her looks were the butt of the joke when in reality she was so beautiful and so elegant and talented.
I totally agree I love Beads she was a legend x
Bea Arthur had this beautiful booming Alto. We miss you funny woman, 1922-2009. 🥺💔
Rose's face when Dorothy comes out dressed like Cher is so priceless. We love you Betty. ❤💝💖😘
That was 😊 funny 😂🤣
That was my favorite!
My all time favorite 😂😂😂😂😂
whoever gave this a thumbs down...I hope you never get any cheesecake ever
Or ice cream!
Those are good, but you gotta hit hard like Sophia and her sister: Whoever left the dislikes: may their marinara sauce never cling to their pasta and may they put their dentures in backwards and chew their heads off
@@cheyennetricks9757 hahaha I love it!!!
@@cheyennetricks9757 yes! Perfect 😂
@Jay Rock may their chinese vase get shot to pieces
Rose's face when "Cher" walks in!! Priceless.
B and Estelle being Sunny and Cher gets me every time
Bea, and it is spelled Sonny and Cher.
I like the way you spelled their names! Don't change it. ❤️
I’m sorry I busted out laughing when Sophia started singing “Thanks for the Medicare”.
🤣🤣
Same 🤣🤣🤣
I always thought it was funny but now that I'm older I understand *why* it's funny. XD
Why sorry? Its a comedy!
Bea Arthur's rendition of What Do I Do has to be a classic. I just love it.
I know; it’s extraordinary.
Yes, it was stunning.
Who was the original singer?
Holy shit. I never saw that before. Got misty eyed.
@@stevenhoward1233 Yes, me too. Sends shivers down my spine.
Rue really enjoyed doing the “I Wanna be Loved By You” scene
Was her favourit Scene
Cause it's so funny.
She's been on record saying it was her favorite scene of Blanche's during the show's run
I've seen an interview where she said it was her favorite. And I can certainly understand why she liked doing it. It's silly, it makes people laugh. She liked making people laugh.
@@kathyjones1576 plus I think cause Rue never really got the chance to show off her abilities as a physical comedienne really but she did here.
Bea Arthur has an amazing voice!
Yes she did! A voice like gold!
Bea was the original Vera in Mame on B'dway with Angela Lansbury
She really does.
Singing to the baby was funny. Boom Boom Boom Dorothy voice was so deep
When Dorothy looks back at the men adoring her whilst singing WHAT'LL I DO? at the Rusty Anchor: it's hilarious!
Rue McClanahan was amazing in that bar scene. Top notch physical comedy! 😂
The fact all four of them could sing..one of the best things about the show.
How Blanche destroys “I wanna be loved by you” is hilarious! I cried tears laughing! 😂😂😂
I think Marilyn must have done the same, up above ☁️💋☁️
I was having trouble pooping after eating too much chili, then when I saw her shoes flying. What a beautiful world!
Blanche is Marilyn Monroe if she hadn't of died
Ikr. She totally botched it it's hilarious!
The Fabulous Baker Boys 😂
This show gives me a warm and fuzzy feeling every time I watch it.
Especially during the winter.
True. During the winter is something else
Me too. It's therapeutic.
It's always been a comfort show for me since childhood.
@@AmandaLove-uo2du Same here 🙋🏻♀️
Don't know why I got teary-eyed at 'I Got You, Babe.' Thanks for the laughs, ladies. You are missed.
I've probably rewatched The Golden Girls series more than 3 times, but still every time I hear "Miami, You've Got Style", I can't help but smile and tear up a bit. These girls brought so much joy into the lives of me, my mom and aunt, and is one of the things that always brings us together.
I didn’t know anyone else cried at that!
When Dorothy and Sophia did the Sonny and Cher thing I was dying I was hoping it would go longer and Dorothy is gorgeous as Cher
That sonny & cher segment has roof breaking laughs that shake the sky! I never forget that scene!
Blanch on the piano is classic hillarious.
I love the guy who salutes the girls while they’re singing “Over There” to Blanche. 🤣 And didn’t Rue say Blanche singing “I Wanna Be Loved By You” was one of her favorite scenes?
Did you notice Stritctand from Back to the Future gave the salute
Rue did say that
I didn’t know that Bea Arthur was such a good singer! I learned something new about her!
She’s a Tony Award winner! A Broadway legend! She’s more than a good singer.
She was in broadway man😂
@@shahd986 like I said in my original comment, I learned something new.
@@LiamMcK1969 I love her rendition What Would I Do?
She had that totally theatrical powerful even better than Liza Minnelli voice!
The Sonny and Cher part will forever be one of my favourites 🥰😂
They're all finally together in heaven. My favorites. Still watching them on Hulu
Then and Designing Women are pretty much all I watch on Hulu.
And, thanks to reruns, they still entertain us🥰🥰🥰🥰
How I pray all four of them got themselves right with Jesus Christ and are with HIM in paradise..
@@davidleavitt835 Why do you people say stuff like this? Sophia’s actor is Jewish, and it’s almost comical how little self awareness you have.
Still GOLDEN...✨️✨️✨️🪄🪄🪄🪄

Okay Bea was HITTING those low notes
i love Beatrice Arthur's voice so much
She’s terrific
To the person who gave this a thumbs down, you evidently can’t appreciate good quality acting. These ladies are AWESOME
@Ameerah McSweeney RUclips made it so we can no longer see the dislikes. I believe only the person who uploaded the video can see those now.
A dislike would mean No sense of comedy. Life isnt perfect and TGG played life like it is.
People are allowed to dislike things, it's just not for them. Not everyone has to like everything you like to have a valid opinion. Frankly who cares if other people dislike this? I'm tired of these sorts of comments.
"What'll I do" always makes me tear up because my dad and I loved this song and we sang together everytime this show really was our favorite I miss you dad Rest In Peace ❤
It's official no one can talk smack about their singing 🎵
The Sonny n Cher routine was the best. Must say Dorothy looks gorgeous with the long hair , even better than Cher. It was hilarious 🤣
Thanks for the memories 🙏💕💕💕
I always remembered “Thanks For The Medicare” while dealing with my parents’ confusing medical stuff. Helped immensely. The way she can’t stay on key to save her life is a treasure.
9:54 Rose's face 😂😂😂😂😂
Actually, Bea started out as a Singer and she sang "Hard Hearted Hannah" on Maude too. 👍
i love that scene!
One of Betty White's earliest aspirations was also to be a singer. But she strained her vocal cords and curtailed her singing.
Thought she started out with the Marines,
Golden Girls are forever golden.
2:51- THANKS FOR THE MEDICARE!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I love this show. My favorite was when Dorothy and Blanche went to the Rusty Anchor and Dorothy became popular. Then to get the men's attention Blanche wore that red dress and tried to sing, "I Wanna Be Loved By You". 🤣
I wish there was a whole track available to download of Bea singing _"What'll I do?"_ That unique, raspy, baritone voice of hers is a whole chef's kiss. 😙🤌💋
Rip it :)
@@cody1804 unfortunately I'm not that tech savvy 😊
You can never go wrong with Golden Girls!
Blanche singing in that bar is the most hilarious physical comedy she’s done on the shows!!!
Bea Arthur had such a beautiful voice.
This show is kind of my guilty pleasure... Never fails to make me laugh and cheer me up! Still, there are quite some serious issues which open a conversation, specially back in the late 80s and 90s... all in all one of my all time favourite shows with an exceptional cast 😊
What's "guilty" about it tho?
@@kolbayada4938 Exactly!!! Why would it be a "guilty" pleasure?????
'Cause she's watching them, instead of doing her "To Do List"...lol
@@kolbayada4938 if I had to guess it's because they're a man and there's a stigma against men watching shows headlining women and women's issues. Especially if they're older.
Not saying anyone should feel guilty watching it, its a tremendous show that transcends social boundaries.
How time flies so fast. I can't believe that most of them passed away already except Ms. Betty White. It makes me smile, laugh and sad at the same time every time i watch their re runs. , it is like it all happen today. This is the classic tv movies that will always innocent and beautiful at the same time. I love them ALL

I have to say Betty White passing was a hard one ...
The chicken stuffing song was 🔥
Blanche singing "I wanna be loved by you" cracked me up the most lol
Supposedly, it was Rue's favorite scene to do.
"So is intrauterine," lives rent free in my head. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
R.I.P every single one of you- you brought so much joy and laughter- I'm so impressed with Bea's voice- with all of them, just wow!
Fun fact bea Arthur was on Broadway and had won a tony award before she was a tv actress
14:36 Dorothy’s “Help” gets me every time 😂
Dorothy's outfits though😍😍😍
I know pretty outfits
The wardrobe on these ladies were impeccable. Dorothy was always styling.
What’ll I Do is my personal favourite
Mine too
Dorothy's really deep "bom bom bom bom"'s get me everytime.
And her "Yeees?"
I still sing "going to stuff the chicken" lol... Am I the only one!?
Bea Arthur sings a song in Star Wars Xmas special. It's like the only part that's not completely horrible.
That, and the animated section with Boba Fett.
BEA ARTHOR’s "WHAT'LL I DO " IS A COMPLETE & TOTAL FAVORITE!!!
Arthur
@@craftmakereveryday2464 spell check …. But 👍🏾
Dorothy’s low Bom Bom Bom Bom 😂😂😂❤️❤️❤️❤️ and her YESSSSSSSS😂😂😂😂
...Yes ....
I get that Medicare song stuck in my head all the time, in particular the part where she says “we thank you, so much..” Anytime I want to give a sarcastic thank you, it pops in
Holy cow Rue did a phenomenal job on I Wanna Be Loved by You. It's very difficult to pull off that sort of comedic physicality whilst singing. Everyone one of these ladies earned their Emmys that's for sure.
I've had a crappy day, but this makes it better! 😍
Me too, hang in there. 🙂
Blanche singing at the Rusty Anchor always has me in tears bc of how ridiculous it is
Supposedly, it was Rue's favorite scene to do.
Blanche I can highly relate to when it comes to signing and performing lol!
Same. I’d like to think I’m Dorothy but in reality I’m so totally Blanche!
@@desertrose1226 lol I agree!
Rest in peace you 4 beautiful women!
I still cannot believe that they're all gone, a fact which hurts a lot. And I mean a lot. RIP Estelle Getty (July 25, 1923 - July 22, 2008), Bea Arthur (May 13, 1922 - April 25, 2009), Rue McClanahan (February 21, 1934 - June 3, 2010), and Betty White (January 17, 1922 - December 31, 2021). You will all be missed.

Bosum Buddies w Lucille Ball is my favorite by Bea Arthur
@@barrellracer Ohh have to check that out,
Yes, I once saw Bea Arthur and Angela Lansbury sing together, they were awesome 😍! But I'm sure the others are trained singers, too.
With all of them are gone now, it really bring tears to watch this show again even I have watched all 180 episodes a hundred times already, laughed endlessly, and still never get tired of watching them again and again. Miss these lovely and amazing Golden Girls.. 🧡🧡⭐RIP to the last beloved Golden Girl, Betty White... ⭐⭐🧡
The Golden Girls are a national treasure!
For sure they are a worldwide treasure. Greetings from Germany.
Though these girls are gone, they'll always be in our heart and memories. Also their recordings of Golden Girls. ❤️
I wish the I got you babe was longer. Pissed Rose stopped it. Love when Dorothy swing her hair back🤣🤣
Self basting 😂😂😂😂👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
Gonna take the chicken down to Mississipi 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Golden girls reminds me of my childhood so much. Not just because I watched it as a child but my mother and grandmother worked at a nursing home. Child care wasn't really a market then, so I grew up in a nursing home. Estelle Getty reminds me so much of a resident named Tamp, tiny little lady but wouldn't hesitate to be feisty.
“Say it thrice” still kills me
I forgot how much of an amazing singer Bea Arthur was ❤
This is so funny!! I ♥️♥️ the Sonny and Cher thing! That chicken stuffing song is so annoyingly funny!! What a beautiful classic voice Bea Arthur had !!!!
RIP Betty white you'll be missed 😥
When I was younger, I didn’t have much liking or appreciation for Dorothy’s singing voice, but now I’ve come to like it.
9:57, Rose’s face while she’s playing the piano! 😂
Bea had an incredible range
This wasn't the first time her character sang "Hard Hearted Hannah", by the way.
When Dorothy sings… What Will I Do. It’s very captivating
The Miami song at the end is amazing I can’t believe they didn’t win!!
I'm an old guy and still remember that my wife and I would stay home to watch The Golden Girls with all these terrifc women. I had loved Betty White especially when she was on the game shows(Password, where she met her husband Allen Ludden). I remember being in the Hollywood area in the 80's and when we tried to get into Price is Right, it was all full, so we went to another to see a recording of a TV show which Betty was in which was also free. I wish I could remember which one it was but as always she was just terrific. When it was done, we left the studio and ran into all of the stars of the show (who, I don't remember) and we talked to all of them. Such fun we had.
Dorothy as Cher - HILARIOUS. Always remember that skit....
Omg! The look on Rose’s face when Dorothy comes in as Cher! It’s so priceless 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 also love Bea’s singing
When B sings you just want to stop the world and sit on the floor and listen to her. She had that presence
Roses face when Dorothy dresses as cher 😂 omg i died laughing my head off🤣
I wish I had Mr. Sandman's full recording in their voice. 😍😍
RIP Betty White :'(
