BIG UPDATE EVERYONE: I posted a new video which is a follow up to this one, I decided to start a new series talking about making Drum & Bass drums from absolute scratch. The first video is currently out and I will keep adding videos to the playlist. So if you are ready for a DEEP DIVE INTO DNB DRUMS, then check the links below 😀

awesome!
First time watching your channel. VERY useful, I was confused how to make the ghost notes in hardware gear but this gave me tons of ideas, also with the kick. Thanks
Absolutely awesome stuff mate 👏 👍 really helps the community 🤗🤗
Cool ill check it out, these tutorials are great, even though i have learned alot of this before, getting a fast review of simple ways to change stuff up, jump starts my mind again when i fall into a rut.. sometimes making very simple changes is all you need to change the feel, instead of trying to rework everything or give up on the track..
I was a local dnb dj in the late 90's early 2000.
Then got into production. Just a hobby. But damn this would have been useful 20 years ago 😅 I had to learn Cubase, MIDI, drum programming, sampling, Envelopes, sidechaining, compression, and much more. YT videos were limited back then.
Also I live in the southeast US where 99% of people have no idea what DnB is.
Just glad to see its still alive.
Nice one, bro, this kind of basic tuts are always useful even for skilled producers, to refresh some base knowledge and get out from writer’s block :)
Thanks man, glad you liked it!
@@djnaymark4841 tell the guy that have 8 followers in 5 years. You're too cool for us man. It can be more constructive if you put something to share on your channel instead of using youtube to bashing people that are really nice and share their passion and how to with the rest of the world.
Daniel Naymark you do know this isn’t his video right
@@danielnaymark9578 wow u big mad huh?
Это вряд ли, Олег. Чайковский ничего нового не вынес бы из повторения нотной грамоты, так же и здесь - всё слишком «базовое».
I honestly slept on this genre for so long, loving so many DnB songs but never looking into it. Thanks for the tutorial, this’ll be fun
Get on some of that Metalheadz, Moving Shadow, and Ram Records... Those labels are king
Just wait until you find halftime dnb like munition plant by current value
And by that I mean, you guys should listen to militarystep, tho I don't think y'all like it if you guys are purely into liquid dancefloor and neurofunk
I've been producing for 10 years and I still learned from this video
I would love if you did a Drum and Bass Music Theory video. I feel like that a bit more advanced but still needed for beginners
yeah, that could be nice
Same here, I can confidently make a nice reece but tbh I have no idea how to make my ideas not sound sparse or jumbled (or just straight wack)
A good subject for Drum & Bass theory is how to make your mix sound as good in mono as it does in stereo. I found it's very easy for me to have a great mix in stereo, but something's always off in mono, and compared to commercially released tracks, everything sounds the same in stereo and in mono!! how?!?!
@@apoplexiamusic I think it's got to do with phase cancellation. You got to align phases properly. And try to stay away from stereo in your low end, just mono it.
When it comes to Drum & Bass, at least the heavier kind, music theory isn't all that important. Most Drum & Bass tracks don't have much melodic content or chord progressions and rely a lot more on texture and character in sounds. Liquid Drum & Bass on another note would include more music theory, but the theory wouldn't differ from let's say other genres. Music theory is a universal thing that applies to any genre you want to make, no such thing as music theory specific for Drum & Bass. I would say just learn your basic Major and minor scales, maybe some modes like Phrygian and you are all set, but in the end the most important thing is to use your ears.
Wow, I finally realized that the point is using different drum sound for ghost note, not adjusting velocity or position. Thank you!!
This is one of the most understandable and clearest beginner tutorial i've seen about dnb. Thx !
Best first and the only depth tutorial on the net ...thk for this bro keep it up really appreciate

As a beginner, this was exactly the video I was looking for after weeks of searching. I will def check out the rest, thank you for this content, this has helped me immensely 🙏🏼👊
This video was so helpful & can't wait to try out these drum n bass patterns. I'm still a bit of a beginner in music production & seem to be naturally better at creating hiphop beats but I love drum n bass music & really want to make a drum n bass track. This style of music is good for different styles of singing & rapping too. Great video which is in my handy music tutorial playlist :)

You're welcome!
I learned a lot from this video and made my first DNB pattern. Thanks for the lesson. Key takeaways: ghost snares sound great, alter the velocity on kick drums and good samples make a big difference.

For FL Studio users you can go to FPC: they have all of the Drum and Bass loops to hear to.
oh wow thank you so much
Such an amazing tutorial man, it’s always great to learn something new. Will you make one of these about dnb fills or breaks in the future?
Most likely yes!
Thanks🙏 for thisone. Gonna make it right like that👌
Fantastic and easy too follow...thank you kind sir. :)
Ty, really helpful
Wicked video! I've always found drum programming confusing because i use audio but il try it in midi now! Made it look so simple! thanks and keep up the good work!
You can do the exact same thing in audio, in fact, I mostly do drums in audio but for the sake of demonstrating it in this video, it was easier to show people when it's all done inside on MIDI clip. This said, however, doing your drums in audio works the exact same way, instead of doing it in one MIDI clip you just do it on several audio tracks, the outcome will be the same.
Nice one brother
You are awesome man, very interesting video! :)
so cool. ty
Was Fighting figure that pattern for so long. Thanks a lot. By a lot I mean A LOT!!!!!

amazing tutorial brotherrrrrrr
Yo ! I'm a multistyle producer mainly focused on industrial. I haver never followed any tutorials exepts to understand how software is working. After hours at struggling and having no idea how to create drums loops that gives "action" or "running" feeling, your tutorial gave me greate templates to finaly know where i'm going thank you !
