    They were both spectacular, but Jokic had a Championship and Luka had a Lottery team at the start of the season ... and then Mavs got crippled with injuries, more than any other relevant team. Things changed with trades and health got better for the Mavs but I believe Luka had to overcome more and is 2024 MVP. I won't be bitter if Jokic gets the nod, though. He was amazing.

      @QuanG61912 Месяц назад +1

      There wasn’t a historical marker for yoke winning. Russ had done something that hadn’t been done in 50 years. That’s the difference.
      Injuries were a major reason they gave it to him but Jokic won as a 6th seed and was 16 games out of first place. Everybody is ignoring the mavericks health this year I’ll admit it wasn’t all season like Jokic that year but injuries cost this team at least 6-7 games. Which would have put them as a top 3 seed.

    • @ntnnot
      @ntnnot 29 дней назад +1

      @@QuanG61912 Nick was simply talking about _someone winning as the 6th seed_ . Russ already did it. Take note, both of those guys looked decent and worthy based on the advanced stats. Both led in PER, Value Over Replacement Player and Box Plus/Minus. But Jokic led also in Win Shares and Win Shares per 48 minutes while Russ was #5 and #10 respectively, illustrating the relative importance of each to their team's success as well as Jokic's effectiveness behind his numbers. Every move is purposeful/substantive, while Russ is widely thought to have had a slight stat padding element to his. Hunting the personal historical feat to a certain degree. It has even been analyzed that the closer he got to double digit rebounds and assists in games (8, 9 of each), the more he was hunting each stat, only to then slow down again after getting to 10.

    Luka at 5th seed has better numbers than joker at 6th. How can people use Luka’s seeding against him despite having better record and joker already winning. Where is the narrative about joker might win 3 is he deserving of that? Where was the convo of mvp moment? Cuz literally only luka has had mvp moments this year.

    • @ntnnot
      @ntnnot 29 дней назад

      RE 'better numbers'. Advanced stats: Jokic again the most impactful. Leader in PER, Value Over Replacement Player, Win Shares and Win Shares per 48, and Box Plus/Minus (each of overall, offensive and defensive). Leader in each advanced stat, showcasing his impact for his team. Luka: 2nd in VORP, and overall and offensive Box Plus/Minus. 4th in PER. 5th in Win Shares and Win Shares per 48 minutes. 13th in defensive Box Plus/Minus.
      ----> Jokic the most effective and impactful with what he does with the ball. His actions = most targeted/substantial.

    One other thing about Lucas MVP run this year that most people are not taking into consideration is the significant level of injuries. The Mavericks sustained in the first half of the year. They won many games when they didn’t have many of their starters and Luca made them competitive and kept them in the ball game for their late season run. That’s what an MVP does.also, look at the statistics with Luca out versus the others out.

  • @actuallyfactual006

    Factually speaking Luka’s season is not relative to what Jokic did as a 6th seed… Kyrie this season has better numbers (even a 50/40/90 season) than Jokic’s team mates two years ago COMBINED (as MPJ & Murray both missed the whole season)
    Luka’s second best player this year Kyrie is having a greater season than Jamal Murray despite them both playing the same amount of games… in the games Luka actually PLAYED the Mavs were 46-24, the games Jokic PLAYED the Nuggets were 55-24 which is a NINE GAME win difference. Add to that, the Mavs actually have a WINNING record when Kyrie plays and Luka doesn’t; but a LOSING record in the games Luka played but Kyrie didn’t.
    Finally, last year Nick’s argument in favour of Embiid was that Philly won more games than the Nuggets in a tougher conference (54wins vs 53wins) plus Embiid was the better defender… Big surprise now THIS SEASON all of that actually applies in favour of Jokic, and it has to go out the window 🤔

    • @cebrinpitts
      @cebrinpitts Месяц назад +2

      Context matters. The Mavs were the most injury ridden team throughout the season, forcing Luka to put up astronomical efforts to win games. However, he still ends the season with the 5th best efficiency rating, 1st in points, 2nd in assists, and is a point guard averaging almost 10 rebounds a game on top of it. All of this whilst being the most double teamed player in the game this season.

Kyrie being kyrie , but luka has change a lot , they shared opinions and thoughts and love each other’s , this season is the season I heard the most when luka praising a lot bout his team especially kyrie . People act like Brunson was the same player then as he is now… Brunson was good and he had a great couple of games in the playoffs the year he left but it was already too late by the the time the offseason started. His father got hired by the knicks and we all knew why. We had our chance to sign him the December before all of that but the fact that we waited for the off season and the media and fan base didn’t make a big stink about it back then should tell you that Brunson was not that guy back then. He was a nice scorer off the bench but he was a defensive liability and not much of a facilitator. As a Mavs fan I’m happy for Brunson with what he’s done with his opportunity and I root for his success. There’s no guarantee that he ever becomes that guy staying in Luka’s shadow. So good for him

    • @jackchan6624

      Brunson won’t be who he is playing alongside luka , he wanted to stay but he’s overshadowed by luka existence and at the time thj was the second player beside luka , why did brunson came out of no where ? Luka injured , thj injured , most of the ball possession went to his hand . U already know he’s a ball dominant pg like luka , so how did they two working well to each other in long run ? Congrats to brunson for having an amazing career but at the time , the front office only see hims as a rotation players behind thj and sometimes played starter at 3, thj was .38 three point shooters at the time , downfall since then but no one could predict the future . Mavs was late to offer him but what will you offer him as early as mid season when he’s averaging a rather rotation players number ?
