After Denver lost to Golden State in 5 games without Murray & Porter, Jr: “Does anybody actually think that this team, that is gonna get swept by Golden State, if they had Jamal Murray & Michael Porter, Jr, who is a big question mark, that they’re Title favorites? You are not Jamal Murray away from being this bad…Jokic plus Jamal Murray plus the unknown that is Michael Porter, Jr is Not winning the Championship.”
It took only the very next season to prove all those takes incorrect. Forget whether someone just didn’t want NJ to skip steps. Someone said that a healthy Nugget team was NOT winning the championship. Wrong, wrong wrong.

But the thing that annoys me is it actually seems like he’s owning up to his wrong takes and is trying to give jokic the credit he deserves. Like when they were 0-2 he wasn’t definitively keeping him out of his top 10 simply it would have been been on the board

Nick laid out a way to diminish Jokic. It’s what he does. If it’s a player he supports, he lays out how amazing what they accomplish would be, if it’s a guy like Jokic who he hates, he lays out the path of failure and how it will ruin their legacy.

@@elmehdinafia1237 let’s relax here. Stats only matter so much, obviously they have to contribute to winning. And Jokic has only made the conference finals twice in his entire career so far. Bron made the finals ten times in a row…. It’s just not close. And honestly with his post season resume, Jokic is beginning to look like one of the most overrated mvps in history. How are you gonna be a part of a historic group of guys to win 3 mvps and not have the resume to back it up. It’s making the award meaningless. Hopefully he adds to his trophy cabinet before he retires so it doesn’t look so bad.
And on a side note, if the regular season dominance actually mattered, we’d all have James harden and Carmelo a lot higher all time than we do.

Could be wrong but show me where an athlete ever in modern times had a preexisting heart issue and didn’t suffer from a spur of the moment cardiac arrest that was ever medically cleared to play professional sports AND a team was willing to sign them. I say all this to say that I think that boy got into a bad batch, had a heart issue, learned his lesson and the money and influence kept it quiet. If you disagree just tell me of an athlete in modern times that didn’t have their career cut short by *preexisting* heart issues.

I really enjoy Nick on FTF and here on the pod, but for the life of me, why does he never acknowledge the health and quality of those rosters Jokic was on in his early playoff exits? To my eye, there’s just no nuance in his (Nick’s) Jokic critique, but I know he’s capable of doing the calculus there, as I’ve seen him give nuanced critiques of other players of Nikola’s ilk in the past.

It is similar to his takes on LeBron the year the lost to the Warriors with Kyrie and Love out. He does not give the same pass to Jokic for those years the nuggets were dealing with injuries. It is an inconsistency from Mr. Consistency.

Unpopular opinion: I loved the entire idea of this show for Nick...doing something with his son (which is probably the dopest thing ever), openly acknowledging the nepotism...but am I the only one that doesn't think Demanze is that good of a cohost? Like, in the beginning its like, ok, he's new, he doesn't know what he's doing, he'll get better. But at this point, its like he just reads cards written for him by other people, and he seems to know almost nothing about sports...which is cool, if you have like a super fan angle or something. But it seems like he is just there most shows.
Like, I get it...your stepdad is the boss, so you get to have the job (which is hella dope, and exactly how it should be). But, couldn't you do some research or something? Seem somewhat knowledgable on the topics that you guys are talking about?
Or is that the point? Like, its Nick just talking to someone who doesn't know much about sports.

With respect to Damonze, I have a strong feeling his role is to host and not discuss much. Many of the questions are scripted. If you pay attention to other episodes, Nick often leads Damonze to the questions and says things like “Oh Damonze didn’t you want to talk about…?” leading him to a topic Nick wants to discuss. The show is called “What’s WRIGHT, with NICK WRIGHT” lol. Most “shared” podcasts have a neutral name not a persons name… twice.

@@OgoseauxI don't think anyone expects Demonze to have elaborate opinions or nuanced insight...but I think we expect him to have a working knowledge of the topics that they are covering. it doesn't need to he a debate, but maybe a discussion. and he has to be able to contribute for there to be a discussion, and he doesn't. it seems more like a lecture, with Nicks son sitting there. Like, honestly, is there any difference in the episodes when nick is sitting by himself?
