When you can identify the NBA finals where Jordan's scoring average dipped by 33%, where he averaged only 17 ppg and had a game where he only scored 8 points, then we can have a "clearer conversation." If you can identify the season where he played with a 2nd team all-NBA teammate and another who was an all-star, but lost in the finals where his team was heavily favored, then we can have a "clearer conversation." If Nick Wright could start each conversations acknowledging that he's a client of Klutch Sports, then we can have a "clearer conversation."

I typically measure a 10 consecutive year stretch. Pick any 10 years you want. I don’t think being almost as successful for twice as long makes someone “greater”.
But my criteria during that stretch are:
    Per game stats
    Individual accolades
    Team success
Gap between that player and the rest of the league
    Social/global influence
The last part is added because “greatness” isn’t purely an argument about “better” or more “talent”. Or Ali probably wouldn’t be the GOAT. When you talk about the greatest musicians, cars, inventions, etc., it’s not just “they sold the most so it’s the greatest”. Impact matters. What it led to after matters. So we can’t ignore it for sports.

@@nukenubz5087poor Spoelstra. Everyone keeps saying LeBron never had a great HOF coach while almost every list currently says Eric Spoelstra a top 3 coach in the league. Many even have him as the best. Was even able to get 2 considerably less talented heat teams to the finals. And if we follow a lot of LBJ fan logic the fact that he lost those two finals shouldn't matter. He participated in them. Dude could have had 3 rings like Phil pre-Jordan first retirement but he was the unlucky coach on the receiving end of LeBrons legendary choke job against Dallas is 2011. I have no doubt that LeBron with Spoelstra would have been one of the all-time combos but LeBron bounced, again, despite his 7 ring promise. Fact is LeBron would never play for a coach like Phil because great coaches install their systems. Forget the debate on who’s the goat, back when Jordan was getting old the league treated him like a god, jersey retirements for teams he didn’t play for, stopping games for becoming what the 5th leading scorer at the time compared to it seems to be a trend or cool to be as actively disrespectful to lebron as possible from coaches to young players(older players I feel are respectful they’ve seen it for long enough)
The treatment they get are not even close to being comparable and the only logical way I can make it make sense it that those people are stressed about the fact they idolised 1 as Jesus himself just to see someone else do it what appears to be so effortlessly most of the time meaning that man they put on a pedestal is nothing but a man with a great marketing team.

2009 LBJ and the Cavs where no.1 seed with 66w, yet they failed in the ECF to the Magic. Yes this was more of a team choke but LBJ shot badly in game 6. Even in game 3 despite scoring 41pts, he actually shot badly at only 39%fg and attrocious 12%3p, 18pts were free throws.
2010, again the Cavs was no.1 seed with 61w, yet worse crashed in the ECS where LBJ was accused of giving up, shooting poorly in game 456.

Why is it that Jordan stans are the first to talk about "your feelings don't matter" but all the arguments for him are based on feelings? Lebron shoots better, passes better, can defend more positions, is bigger, faster, and stronger, played in a vastly more skilled league, is statistically more clutch, and has been to more finals. He's played at the highest level for longer than anyone ever. He's scored more points than anyone ever. His absence from a team is far more impactful than Jordan's. Look at the Bulls when Jordan retired to "play" baseball...they nearly made the finals without him.

@@Unclejs_ stop what I never said anything about anybody being a goat that wasn't even the question. I'm just thinking about how many points they scored each season and had Jordan never retired the first 2 times he would have been well over 40k points that's literally all I'm saying. Now with that being said LeBrons 40k points combined with his assist numbers it's not even close. Jordan lacked in that department.

      Bucks 85'
      Celtics sweep 86' & 87'
      Pistons 88', 89', 90' ,
      Magic 95'
Wizards 0 playoffs . As a Bull 7 bad endings.
Needed tex Winters to give him answers how do I beat Pistons?
      Triangle offense!
Pippen wins nothing without him, but blames him in 90' eastern conference finals losses. Even gets called "Migraine game " Great teammate.
The Airness can't beat 1 team in a winner take all game 7????
1 game. LeBron beats his Pistons foe. They had 4 All stars and tayshawn Prince 6 9' defensive specialists. Case closed. Jordan had the Greatest....Marketing ever by Nike with the Greatest style of play. But not big enough unlike LeBron to make a impact on the inside. Rebound or block shots like a Big.

I'd say the best comparison for "peak" that is fair for both players is 26 to 35. That is when both players were having significant success in the Playoffs. If you go year-by-year, then I see LeBron being better for at least 4 of these ages while Jordan was better for at most 4 of these ages. I have them tied for 2 of these ages. LeBron would get one year during an age that Jordan didn't play (age 31), but Jordan would also get one year for an age that LeBron basically didn't play either due to significant injury during the season. The injury was a definite factor in the Lakers not being in the Playoffs when LeBron was age 34.

Turnovers are a part of the game...the top 20 is dominated by greats (and Westbrook). If you can't hold on to the ball, you won't be in the league long.

Kobe will forever by my GOAT but that goes beyond basketball. Lebron is in my opinion the best to ever do it and longevity is a huge part in that decision. But if I was a Jordan supporter I would counter Nick by saying that by your own logic on peak it speaks to Jordan’s greatness that his 8 year peak is better than Lebrons when he had the 94 and 95 seasons off included
