i remember watching this video in 2014 on my Celeron pc and was thinking "holy shit the graphics is amazing " and now that i look into current ets2 graphic and compare it this , the game have developed really well the devs have done a great job

im a real trucker in real life. lol. you were talking about the switches on the dashboard, those are actually the way they are, you get the standard switches and if you want to upgrade the volvo later on down the road, you can take those covers away and add switches in the spot of the "dummy" switches (the ones without the labels you were talking about on the dash)
Ahahahaha. That's the stereotype. I actually did not come from a poor family. You better show some respect. That computer your talking shit on, was on a truck at one point. The clothes you are wearing, they were on a truck. Anything and everything you posses, was brought to you on a truck at one point or another. If it was not for us doing what we do, America would have a hard time. You don't have to like us, however, you wouldn't have the amenities you have if it wasn't for us working 70 hrs a week. Owner operators are making $100,000+ a year. I'm a company driver making $75,000 a year. Not bad for being a dumb ass trucker from a broke family with little to no edumication right? Know your facts before you state facts.
There are plenty of educated people driving trucks. Sometimes it's what someone has to do. Also you can not tell someone's tone via text so you're wrong on that end. Secondly trucks do serve a big part in everyday life of individuals. Your medical supplies everything was brought to you on a truck, like I said before. The hospital you perform surgeries in, the metal and construction supplies and the laborers that built it is the reason you have a career aside from getting your education. Also quit being stuck up and acting like you are god. I don't care if you are a surgeon or the president of the USA or what ever country you are from. Everyone in my eyes is equal, whether you are homeless living on the streets and no one will look at you, or if you reign over all. The only difference between you and I is some schooling. I chose to go a different way in life than you. If I started my own company and worked my ass off I could become wealthier than you were could have imagined. That however is not my life's goal. I do not care about wealth at all. However, I'm not surprised I'm in this conversation with the likes of you because most surgeons act like they are god and everyone should kiss their ass. Just remember that there is someone out there better than you, smarter than you, as well as wealthier than you. So get off your high horse and come back down to earth.
damen grandel I am an educated truck driver as well. What bothers me is that these trucks seems to be different from American Trucks, Without the gears or even the air lines pull buttons... I can concur you can easily make 70k+ american money a year but it is an easy job. I don't like using my Business degree to rip people off, I got tired of that compare to manual labor.

Huge baobab tree in IKEA... Not as weird as a helicopter or military tank in Fedex. Also, when you were beached, you could have detached the trailer, moved a bit, and reattached the trailer. That way, the trailer moves automatically to your new position (about a metre). This can be used to bypass some obstacles.

Adelaide has no road tax, and no toll booths.
What we have are hyper aggressive animals that attack your car, like Kangaroos. I'm not kidding. They run alongside your car, and then try to make you swerve by cutting you off. It's what they do to establish dominance amongst themselves,and a bull Kangaroo weighs a lot.
Also, some species of Goanna attack the tires and undercarriage of the car if you stay put for too long.

That is a really bad idea. Your car is not going to come out of that looking pretty and the 'roo may jump at you if threatened, which means it goes through the windscreen and will most like kill you.

44:38 That 0 mph shows the cruise control speed, that's why it says 0 :) Also u can't brake well because u didn't choose the right transmission, u should install the one with the ''r'', that's the retarder version which perfectly helps the braking and probably u also did not enable the auto exhaust brake...

Got to agree Retarders are a life saver, especially going down steep hill with heavy loads i just let retarder do all the steady braking in a controlled way with exhaust brake button covered just in case extra is needed.

Wow, that traffic jam while exiting the highway....I seriously haven't laughed that hard in years. Simply one of the funniest moments I have ever experienced.
The zero mph on the Volvo dash is Cruise Control speed, one of my fav features, I switched from Scania to Volvo because you can go from 440bhp to 600bhp at level 12, now at 16 my truck has a 750bhp engine, but I love the CC speed on the dash, I can always see it where in my Scania I had to select that screen, so now I can watch my MPG or my Air/Oil Pressure instead.
I laughed so much toward the end of the video. Trying to push the traffic.. and then when you head finally are able to head off "Ok, so I've left a bit of a mess on the Motorway" Epic.
Watched this when it came out. 3 years later, 1.65 mil views! Awesome
I remembered watching this series! It was my first video I saw by him & at that time, he was known by his RUclips name as "DaSquirrelNuts". That's one way you can tell how devoted some fans are watching his videos. This is probably my favorite video series by him. Always have, always will be.

this video might be 7 years old, but, given i've never actually watched from ep 01, i figured, screw it, gotta start some day and that tree is HUGE!! im suprised the truck can even move, let alone pick up speed!
The dashboard where it says 0 mph only tells you what speed you're going when you have cruise control on.
In real life that 70t is normal weight for a timber of tipper truck. Here in Finland we have one 104t timber truck. :D

i just started to play this game earlier today and it almost drove me nuts. the reverse parking frustrates the heck out of me. took me almost 10 minutes just to park lol. till i realize "wait, this isn't need for speed or gta or gran turismo, this is a simulator". so yeah, i guess it's just that realistic. you'd have to get used to it just like a real truck driver trainee.

Don't worry too much about it, it's just practice. I used to skip it all the time and now i park in just about a minute. Use the top cam (key 3) and correct your turn slowly :)

The trouble with this game is that it makes driving trucks look easy. You wouldn't get more than a mile if you pulled your tree for real. You demonstrated that beautifully.
'Beaching' as you described it happened because you didn't plan anything. What grounded was the legs of the trailer. The game doesn't represent how to couple and uncouple. Believe me there is a lot more to it than reverse back and press a key! For one thing the legs must be raised after you couple otherwise they drag on the road!
Not using your mirrors resulted in you hitting barriers even after you had a near-miss right at the start when you referred to scraping round a corner.
Going way too fast resulted in you hitting another road user when they moved under your trailer, and then knowing what you'd done you didn't stop.
Having 70 tonnes in your hands in the real world you would end up in jail and people would die.
And for those people who think drivers are all grubby half-wits? Do you actually know any drivers? And as to why we do it? Personally I take pride in my ability to drive and maneuver a 50-ft long vehicle which bends in the middle and take it in and out of places like London, Birmingham, Glasgow, etc. in safety. You should see the idiots I see every day...
Most games make everything look easy, first person shooters make being a soldier look easy, flying simulators make being a pilot loon easy. It's the way games have to be to keep players playing them and not getting frustrated over failing

Up to a point maybe? But there should be consequences for making stupid mistakes. Like pushing cars and trucks out of the way. Maybe if only a cost in financial terms.
Incidentally flight-sims are probably one type of game which are actually more difficult than real-life since there are no motion cues. i.e. no physical sensation of movement in your inner ear. You try flying a helicopter in X-plane with the realism at 100%!!

About those transmisions marked R: A retarder is a device used to augment or replace some of the functions of primary friction-based braking systems, usually on heavy vehicles. Retarders serve to slow vehicles, or maintain a steady speed while traveling down a hill, and help prevent the vehicle from "running away" by accelerating down the hill. (So that would be pretty useful)

It's not "road tax" and hasn't been since 1935. It's vehicle excise duty. I think you'll find trucks pay more tax because of their emissions also, the tax you pay on your vehicle does not go to fix roads. As I said that stopped in 1935.

+warbunny13203 Not if you have a 0.6 litre car or an electric car. If it was a 'road tax', then you'd have to pay anyway regardless. This way, it is actually possible to NOT pay road tax or only pay like a fiver, if you have an electric car or a fiat 500 or something.
So technically I can drive a heavy Tesla around the roads, wearing out the roads etcetera, and not pay a penny of road tax, because I'm not releasing any fumes in the air. If it was a proper tax, I'd probably be paying more than a regular car.

i grew up with Scanias and volvo lorrys. Uk to Greece. the Volvo was what my dad last owned. the FH16 with upgraded engine. (don't ask what he done to upgrade, i don't know) just made it very powerful. it was a work horse, not for looks. i will take volvos over anything any day. my childhood was in them beauty's

You're right, Squirrel. That is a huge tree, but it is believable. Those trees rival Giant Sequoias in terms of girth of the base of the tree. But Redwoods are much taller. When SCS was working on American Truck Simulator I begged them to make Redwood country realistic, but... _They didn't._

When you were sitting there deciding whether to take the tree to Lyon or Nurnburg I was sitting there like "No, no, go to France! It'll be interesting!" And luckily you did.
