    As someone who had driven some heavy loads in both gravel and snow. I could say
    1. Blown differentials (Never engage when you are either turning or have 1 tire slipping)
    2. Blown engine (So much overrevving) or at least stupid high fuel consumption
    3. I'm very surprised that you had enough grip even with the locks on.
    You say that you have the power and torque, but not friction. Therefore you should gain momentum when possible, so you dont have to risk losing friction when the hill get's steep.

      Do you still drive trucks? And how do you like it?

    • @MrPomomies
      @MrPomomies 4 года назад +5

      @@hakimHAKIM-uc7kq I have been off from that line of work, due health issues (Now resolved) and currently unemployed.
      Trucking has many sides, so I wont go to too much detail.
      Long distance, if you are single can be a enjoyable, although sometimes the resting period will mess you up.
      What I mean is you drive 9 hours, rest 9 hours, drive 9, rest 9, d 9, r9, etc... if you managed your sleep before you set off on first day, 3rd day will be horrible, as you most likely wont fall asleep after your driving period, and when you finally are tired enough that you could sleep, you have to set off, and at the end you are struggling to stay awake.
      How ever in couple months you will get used to it. Assuming you dont have too many days off. (Home days essentially.)
      What we call "frame line" where I live. is essentilly day trips between 2-10 loadings and unloadings, every day. it get's boring pretty fast.
      Delivery routes, semi truck, or just a box truck is somewhat similar, Same stops every day or slight variation between weekdays.
      Delivery with box truck / van on certain area might be okay, Depending on how large area / how many stops. on the route. Worst I have had was 90-110 stops a day with van, and on that job a good physical health is requred.
      Then there is company related stuff. Certain brewery requires that you not just deliver their products, you put on the shelves of the store where you delivered it. for example.
      Some smaller stores, especially in old towns are just horrible due to them not having proper loading bay, so what ever you bring there will just go trough normal backdoor, so you wont be pulling any pallets in, you have to manually unload everything, and often carry them by hand.

      @@hakimHAKIM-uc7kq As I never did that myself I'm not 100% sure how it was paid. The company I worked for had trucks in multiple places working on their own routes, and one of them did exactly this kind of route.
      I rarely saw the man who was on that route. and I never asked, He could have been paid by the hour (I know that there was certain days that he made only 2 deliveries total) or he could be paid x amount of cargo delivered and shelved, in which case the faster he did it the "higher he hourly salary" was.

    • @dwerg1
      @dwerg1 7 лет назад +52

      The kids arm covering his fathers chest is meant to look like a seat belt while also reminding you that someone doesn't want you dead. This illustrative technique is also used in the speed limit reminder, where half of the face smears out like it's going fast but could also be interpreted as fading out of existence.
      I think very little is random about this picture. (I'm from Norway too)

    25:40 - The red colour on houses comes from red paint being a colour of status in Scandinavia that originated from Sweden (Norway was swedish &/or danish back then).
    During the 15th, 16th and 17th century, kings wanted it, and so the people wanted it. The colour itself came from the coppermine in Sweden.
    A lot of houses only had the "front side" of it painted red because it was so expensive.
    Today, it's a cultural standard in northern Europe.

It would be something like the ATS big sur event with that tight dirt road. I don't know if promods multiplayer will be added anytime soon but I hope it does get added but with AI traffic because the map is so big and you won't find many people. Those roads in russia have lots of curves and you cannot drive with high speed on most parts of that road either.

    The reason for the huge number of red houses in Norway, is mainly because of the price difference of paint colors all those years ago. (100-300'ish years ago)
    Red and yellow was the cheapest colors, whilst blue and white was the most expensive colors.
    BTW: The sign with the boy and his dad, is a reminder to motorists to wear their seatbelts.

  • @hanse81
    @hanse81 7 лет назад +39

    I think 40% or so of the houses in Norway are white. I guess red is next on the list. Almost all farm buildings are red with white details.
    Apparently all Norwegians have a white Audi A3 in their driveway as well according to ETS2. Also one of the houses had a flag outside and it was sooo badly proportionate it almost didn't look like a Norwegian flag. There are also no roads in Norway with 100-110 km/h speed limit without a "divider?" separating you from oncoming traffic.

    • @reinterpret_cast
      @reinterpret_cast 4 года назад

      Let's say someone has a family that doesn't give a fuck about him/her. So they see the poster and become so depressed that they start driving more recklessly than ever and actually die and kill somebody. Now, the family actually did give a fuck so they get depressed too. They drive accidentally past a similar poster and feel so heart broken that they lose attention and crash and die too. Families of those bypassers killed in the accidents get depressed and crash too and the whole shit repeats itself. So, everyone dies because of a fucking poster. How ridiculous is that? lol

    The tarmac roads are WAY too wide... i'm a Trucker with experience of northern Norway. and the roads are extreamly narrow...
    Road 93 from Kivilompolon border control up to Alta is decently wide... but when you go for instance to Narvik, Tromsö, Leknes and such places, are rather unpleasant to drive, because every time you meet another truck, you need to go out right towards the white line and hope the other driver does the same... otherwise the mirrors are gonna smack togheter...
    Peace!

    Agree with the new OMSI 2 DLC, but if people read about it before hand and found out more information they would've found out that it doesn't contain an online multiplayer like ETS2MP. But thinking about it, was released by a guy and a DLC, MP would've haven implemented by the devs of the game who've left development of the game. But also thinking about it, it does contain MP to some extent as you actually meet up with several people in the depots not only talk to them in chat, but actually seem them, do bus inspections create shifts and more.

    From real life offroading I can offer some advice. Firstly diff-lock can be used on corners, it tends to push the front wide but the benefits of it outweigh the negative.
    Momentum is your only friend for steep climbs with a heavy unit, so get some gentle speed up on the approach and push up the hills on throttle, works much better. Grip or "friction" as you call it will run out quickly if you don't prepare for the terrain in advance..👍🏻

    On the red houses. I heard that asked once about barns in the US and somebody answered: " People figured out that oiling up the wood made it last longer and keep it from absorbing moist and thus rust but also when rust was added to the oil it kept fungus and moss from growing on it and weakening the wood" That gave it the redish color and from there out it kinde became the traditional color. Could be BS, but that an explanation i once heard.

    When you loose traction on a slippery road with a 4-axle truck, like this one, raise the 3rd axle. This way you increase the load on the axles that transfer power to the road. And ofc only at low speeds and turn the difflock on. At very slow speeds one can still turn, albeit not very sharply. This tip works in real life as well and can get you out of trouble

    This is one of the best ETS 2 videos I have ever seen in a very long time Paul ! I just want to see more of these videos with amazing view. I also have a question to you and who ever sees this comment...Yesterday I tried to install ProMods and I did..I dragged it to the mod folder , started my game and opened the mod manager tab , then it says "Incompatible" with a red dot on it. I will be specific as I don't have any of the map DLC's and even the Russian map..Does it have anything to do with that ? I was extremely disappointed as I was very eager to have other maps as it was very boring to play on the normal SCS maps. Anyway please let me know what is wrong and what I have to do in order to make it work and as I did follow every step it asked me to do for installing ProMods.

    Houses are red in finland too because the paint can or could be obtained from natural sources. Clay filled with hematite (up to 95%). After the clay is boiled and fired, it gets that deep red color and can be used as paint. In short, these houses are ironclads. =)

      It is lazy admins' fault. They don't even check the reports and bans are so short no wonder the current status of multiplayer.
      Aside of that, the Promods map is huge, roads won't get nearly as congested. You would need to play with your friend(s) in order to find someone.

    You gain more traction by lifting up your tag axle Squirrel. It's even possible to haul heavy loads in this game by using 6x2 chassis if you use diff lock and lift your tag axle up. Not very realistic tough cause there should be switch to reduce your air bag pressure on tag axle but it will do the trick :D

  • @EllipticGeometry

    Just so you know, the game doesn't consider speed limits or anything of the sort when computing how long a trip should take. It assumes an average speed of 62 km/h regardless of anything. For purposes of expected delivery time, a constant amount of time is added depending on the urgency of the job. If it's long enough, you get time to sleep as well. That's all there is to it.
