As clearly his nasty narcissistic wife doesn't give a crap about anyone but herself not even her daughter
Everyone knows when flying you need to be at least an hour early or more before your flight leaves and his wife going to Starbucks for coffee with 15 minutes before the flight
Is down right childish and disrespectable not only to her husband but Everyone one else involved
I certainly hope the cow had to pay for another ticket with her money
I'm glad he left the cow behind
Is she brain dead or something as the tickets can cost several hundred to several thousand dollars

Geisa Williams, Former CEO of the California power utility PG&E
In January 2019 Williams left PG&E as the company struggled to deal with legal and financial repercussions associated with a series of devastating California wildfires, which occurred in 2017 and 2018. Despite losing more than $6 billion, Williams received a pay raise of 8.12% in 2018. PG&E filed for bankruptcy immediately after Williams' departure.
Williams is criticized for a $10mm+ pay packaging including $2.6mm in severance pay when she left PG&E as the company prepared to enter bankruptcy. The Los Angeles Times reported that, "Williams’ compensation encompassed numerous perks, including a car and driver, a $51,000 security system for her home, health club and “executive health” services worth $5,453 and financial services subsidized to the tune of $7,980."

Number one rule of being a manager in a new company is to first learn how things work as is before making any changes. Karen didn't even ask what Jim did at the company before jumping to immediate conclusions. Heck, when one company I worked for was bought out by a larger Chinese company, it took 2 years before they decided to lay off half of the staff (but thankfully gave us a very generous severance, paying us for 60 days during which we didn't have to come into the office or do any actual work, and then additionally paying us the value of all our restricted stock afterward).

Friggen agreed. I dont understand how adults, in my experience usually women (but that may be because I've only dated women and friends who are flakes fall off fast and I dont see the personal side with just friends) can get through life having NO time management skills. It isnt hard at all... and if you find yourself having trouble with it and being late, set your clocks forward 15 minutes and TREAT them like it's the real time until you've trained yourself to do it right. It's part of growing up! I think the thing that really kills me about this is that I was taught that if someone doesnt make the effort to be prompt, to not make you wait for them, they dont respect your time, nor you as a person... and it's really sad how many people manage to stay in relationships while acting like that.

When a new person takes over a company, their first order of business is to learn how the company is functioning. They need to observe and keep their fingees out of procedures until they can honestly see if changes are necessary. The number ine rule for any new owner or manager is, "if it ain't broken don't fix it." If it's working and profits are excellent, let it be.
As to missed flights, did the op discuss flight times with his wife? Or make the decision himself? Maybe if he had discussed flight times with his wife they could have agreed on one that suited them both. As to her wanting a specific coffee. Why? Especially because she had to travel away from the gate. By insisting she had to have THAT coffee, she showed an immaturity befitting a five-year-old child. Water is the only liquid she has to have. Special coffee that takes her away from the gate, with limited time, can wait.
It has to be agreed, that couple seem to have money coming out of their ears if they can miss their flight then buy more tickets. It does seem strange that they would fly separately just because the wife doesn't take flight times seriously. But what's to guarantee she won't miss her flight because she just has to have something or doesn't leave home to be at the airport in time to board the plane?

Nah, people who sleep their way to the top often know enough to not make waves. They know they are out of their depth. They do not come in all "respect my authoritah", they make sure they do as little work as possible, and the most important aspect of it is always "if it ain't broke, don't fix it".
This type of arrogance, on the other hand, is indicative of "MBA brain rot". It is not a gendered issue. These are people who are filled with all the newest "management ideas" and sent off into the wild. Full of fire, brimstone, piss, vinegar, and management buzzwords. They are ageist, sexist, classist, ableist, racist, insert any kind of bigotry that would make them feel self-important. Their entire breadth of experience is "management", and often, said "management" has done nothing but make life difficult for people who are actually doing the work. They just do not see any consequences of their actions, because they are "management" and for the last decade, thanks to an extremely permissive financial environment, company value has completely divorced from the work actually done - so they ruin workplaces, still make money for their "investors" through financial shenanigans like short-selling, and leave some chumps holding the bag as they jump off with their golden parachutes.
Advice to any company owner: If the CV says "MBA" on it, do not let the idiot anywhere near the company. You'll see it crash and burn within a year. No exceptions.

Story 1. OP is definitely NTA. TLDR: my uncle missed his boarding time on a cruise, and 14 years later was late to his own burial!
Things like plane flights and cruise ships will not wait for a passenger that is late. My family loves to cruise, and my uncle is just like OPs wife, we call him "Last minute, Larry." Anyway, in 2008 my family went on a 10 day cruise for a reunion. We had close to 30 family members, including Uncle Larry. We all expressed the importance to everyone that when they disembark from the ship, they MUST be back by the scheduled time as unless it is a passenger under 18, the ship will not wait for anyone. We were in Belize, and our next island was Mahogany Bay. Then it was a 2 day sail back to our USA port. Well, can you guess who made it back to the dock in Belize 1 hour after our ship left?......If you guessed Uncle Larry, you win a prize! Also, guess who didn't speak or understand Spanish? Correct again, Uncle Larry. Now, typically, when a passenger misses the ship, they have to buy a ticket for an island hopper (a small propeller plane that hops from island to island), at their own expense, and meet the ship at the next port. However, Uncle Larry did not get back to the doctor until 6 pm, and when he attempted to purchase a plane ticket, there was nothing available until the day after our ship left Mahogany Bay. So, my uncle had 2 choices, 1 get a regular flight back to the USA and meet us there in 3 days, or hire a private island hopper for $3,900. Considering all his belongings and medications were on the ship, he had no choice but to pay for the island hopper. Uncle Larry was never late to anything for the following 14 years he lived, however funnily enough on the trip from the funeral home to the cemetery we hit really bad traffick, and so we got to the cemetery 40 minutes later than we were supposed to, which caused a delay in his burial due to other burials being done after him. So, all in all uncle Larry (although obviously not his fault) was nearly 2 hour late to his own burial! RIP Last Minute Larry, we love and miss you!

in regards to the first story: I was actually legitimately laughing after hearing what happened after Jim got fired.
I mean I understand that women in a CEO position have it hard but they also got the remember that they're not invincible Titans. and a very important business thing is to always check everyone's contracts before firing them. because you never know if something is in there that can bring down the company.
and it's quite funny one person can give a company an enormous amount of Good Fortune but that nobody realizes it until it's gone.
I mean What was she thinking? I mean there has to be a reason that guy was around for so long in the company. also did she not think that the guy could Sue her back for a wrongful firing? I definitely am on board with this one. She was only in charge for free months and she single-handedly cost the company millions of Dollars and their competitor is now doing much better and doing the jobs that they could have been doing if she had just bothered to leave one guy alone.
I hope she's working in a McDonald's… cleaning the bathrooms… and the child play Center after somebody vomited in there. because I definitely think that her reputation will follow her as the woman that single handly took down an entire company in only three months. Unattently.

Story 2: I don’t understand adults that can’t sit and wait for an hour or less. You’re not a child. Read a book, talk to someone, have a drink, or just do anything. Just make sure you’re where you’re supposed to be on time

Time to look into separating your accounts & getting things lined up with an attorney. I don’t usually jump on the divorce bandwagon as a first go… yet, in this case it’s wise to be safe. Please sit down with your daughter & find out if stepmommy has mistreated her.
I’d think hard about redoing your will to be sure your daughter is protected. Definitely make sure the woman you’re currently married to isn’t the executor/personal representative

Like someone said. When you are a new "boss" never change anything until you know how the company works.
We had a new station manager. He worked with me and washed cars, he sat with the people that made customer bookings. He also followed us out when whe delivered cars for rental to companiea.
After a while he changed up some things that made everything better.

It depends on certain things, but just holding the patent doesn't mean you own the machines.

When will new managers ever learn to find out how the company works before you make changes. You cannot reinvent the wheel. This company was already successful before you got here. Why not roll your sleeves up and work along side your employees and ask where they think improvements can be made and why. Ask what they need to make their jobs easier. This was good enough for Walter Elias Disney when building Walt Disney World in Florida. And look what kind of legacy that man left behind. He really did walk up to employees at all levels of work and ask if he could get them anything to make their jobs easier. Really smart man.

The current ones follow the MBA cookbook, and get all the money they can, leaving a shattered company behind as they leave. However the CEO probably found out that destroying the company in the first week is not going to get a glowing new position, no board will hire a CEO that destroyed the previous company, and left the shareholders with nothing at all, and likely they are all on the boards of any company she would apply to as well, and seeing the name will vehemently tell the other board members that she is going to destroy that company as well, and create a massive loss for the other board members as well.

I work in Human Resources and the first story sounds like this company has a garbage HR team which is weird for a multimillion dollar enterprise. Whenever ANYONE is being fired, it has to run through HR just for the paperwork and offboarding processes alone. Unless the HR manager is new or green, they would have looked up the employee file for any liability issues, such as holding ALL THE FREAKING IPs. Second was the termination being an ADA nightmare. Even hinting that the termination had any stank of discrimination is something all HR professionals are thought to avoid at all costs. I don't know how an HR manager would even allow the CEO of the company to do this termination unless this CEO is really threatening their job as well. At the very least in this situations where a CEO is demanding I terminate a high level employee, I would call a stakeholder meeting just becuase its my duty to protect the company and if a CEO is about to tank it, I have to at least let the rest of the Stakeholders get a meeting in.
