@@Seanonyoutube It's way too high pitched, here. It's some sort of weird effect
The Germ Theory was never actually proven to be 100% accurate, yet the trillion dollar medical industry is entirely based on that theory. What's the CAUSE of death in people with this "virus"? Does their brain explode? Does their heart stop beating? The CAUSE of death is still pneumonia. Pneumonia is not something you can "catch". You DEVELOP it, just like you develop cancer. It's a biological result of being "scared to death" of something. Think of it like an internal wound that you can't see, but when it starts to heal (when the traumatic event dissipates), the healing of the wounds in the lungs will cause pain, mucus, blood, fever, headaches, coughing, etc. You don't show the symptoms of "disease" until you stop being panicked and afraid. These symptoms usually show up 1-2 weeks after you've relaxed and resolved the upsetting event. The cause of death in Small Pox was PNEUMONIA. It wasn't from the acne cysts. That's not enough to kill you. The only people who developed Small Pox were those involved in attacks...Indians and military. The FEAR of being attacked or the attack itself CAUSED the pneumonia. Small Pox doesn't exist today not from a vaccine, but because we don't go around attacking tribes anymore.
Governments around the world are CAUSING fear frights, thus CAUSING all the illnesses, aka Boogey Virus, in everyone based on an unproven THEORY by one man, Louis Pastaur, who redacted his claim of the germ theory on his death bed, yet no one listened. The US is following an outdated theory that's 100 years old and has not questioned or retested that "science" since then. They believed In witches and curses back then!! Could it be because a Ca-Zillion dollar medical industry profits on following an outdated "science" model?! They've been using the same cancer "treatment" for 80 YEARS. They can't think of something besides POISON in all this time?!?!
So of course, when everyone is allowed to escape the hostage situation the governments have put their people into, and they start relaxing about the "scary virus" that's not in any way transmissible, they will begin their healing phase (get sick), and believe they then have the "scary virus", and more panic will ensue as well as martial law. The longer people allow this government to hold them hostage in their homes, the more severe the "sickness" will be. Western Medicine is pure fraud, and people's lives are destroyed because of it.
Is AY recording this from a helium factory?
I was thinking red solo cup and string.

@Keith Barry Quick someone forward this to Yang so his bid is successful
Sam, thanks for putting out more content lately! The Gervais interview and this one are a nice surprise! Cheers
Ranked Choice Voting in NYC. Even if Yang isn’t your top choice, please consider him as your 2nd or 3rd
An imperfect candidate, like all candidates, but yes, he is among my top three for choice.
Ranked choice voting is a great concept. It's not just good for third parties, but also primaries where non-mainstream candidates can get shut out (unless they're billionaires and/or famous)
NYC is going to be a super awesome proof of concept for Yang's ideas. Diverse, struggling, and an economy of scale. NYC is bigger than some nations. Will be fascinating to see him put stuff to work.
Of course assuming he gets elected. Anyone from NYC, get out & vote! This is a major one.
I’m... unconvinced. For now, at least.
and if it doesn't work will you change your opinion or will the argument always go "we didn't go big enough"? I'm not even against his ideas, I wanted him to win the presidency but the cult that formed behind Yang is a bit much
@@SAFbikes I literally just said this will be a good test case for his ideas because of the situation the xity is currently faving paired with their demographic and size. If his ideas fail then there will be proper data to show as much.
But you just blanket attacked me like I was some fanatic part of a cult. Step down from your soapbox if you're gonna just throw around ad hominem attacks with no context.
@@SAFbikes What a strange comment. There were many cult factions leading up to the election (Trump, Bernie), but the Yanggang were the least delusional.
Yangs words and actions are that of logic, science, and empathy, which in turn attracts people of a similar mindset.
What new ideas it’s all the same stuff left wing politics has done for years. UBI is magic spell because those 300,000 people that left the state are his tax base, where is the money going to come from? The problems of New York are just starting.
That's not Yang's voice but it's his words and laughter! 😹
Throwing me off hearing Yang's ideas from another man's voice.
17:20 why on earth would people want to pay rent to live in the same building as drug addicts and insane people? Who would want to raise children in such a place?
Marketing. Make it chic and people will come. Typically not families.
Then read the Cult if Personality in the comments where no addressing if the issues is talked about, but, oh Boy! It's Andrew Yang! I want to like the guy, but 'Sex Work' and decriminalization is not the answer. Not having a valid conversation about the effects of such policies and the after affect of Andrew calling for philanthropist bail outs (as if all the issues of people COULD be saved by an influx of outside money....see Welfare...is ridiculous).
You aren't free from Google "giving away it's services" and politicians are free getting money from lobbyists and you sure as Hell shouldn't be free getting money from the govt. Incentives are a thing, it's why bonuses are a thing.
Very disappointed that Sam wasn't more engaged in exploring possible negative outcomes here.
Probably no one rational, but it's more about the principle of allowing people to live where they will without discriminating against them for their troubled pasts. Deeming drug addicts as "undesirables" may make emotional sense, but it's simultaneously inhumane. Both things can be true.
@@JH-ji6cj It doesn't seem obvious that decriminalization is necessarily a problem in itself. That seems to be a biased opinion that isn't substantiated with anything to point to.
Obviously, there should be laws which deem some things as CRIMINAL, but how we decide what ought to be criminal is every bit as much philosophical as sociological.
Drugs are horrible and ruin people's lives, yes. That doesn't mean that drug usage should be treated as a criminal offense. Even recognizing the danger of it is only grounds for regulation, but not necessarily criminalization.
Considering how poor recidivism rates are and how the justice system utterly fails to rehabilitate, how we sentence crimes should change.
Being an addict to something unhealthy shouldn't be punishable with incarceration, but treated with rehabilitation.
Incarceration only makes sense to segregate violent people from society in the interest of protecting society. Therefore, nonviolent crimes shouldn't result in incarceration, but alternative approaches, such as rehab, re-education, boot camps, community service, and other educational and civic exercises to instill discipline and development.
Punishing someone for a personal choice really doesn't make sense. Legalization, taxation, and regulation is the only way to mitigate the risks associated with drug use, sales, and sex work.
@@Xpistos510 we fundamentally disagree on whose responsibility it is to not be a hindrance and monetary drain on society. Your comment assumes that rehabilitation even works, which is not borne out by the statistics.
Must be nice thinking that there is just an abundance of wealth that can be accessed at any time to give to those who choose paths that cannot be sustained because they *cannot accept responsibility for themselves.
At least with jail, those putting themselves in that predicament (by choice) have access to shelter/food etc, but in such a way as to try to get them to NOT choose it over making better choices for themselves.
Again, I see us as not being close to finding common ground if you think that the public should poney-up for those who would choose to be addicts (and I do consider it to be a choice), which I think we disagree on as well. There are plenty of people who have committed capital crimes who also claim they had no choice because of upbringing/circumstances and expect the State to pay for them as well.
Just when I thought Andrew Yang's laughter couldn't be any more infectious!
He's got a good spirit. A wholesome human.

I love Yang’s optimism coupled with thoughtful, innovative ideas. It’s so goddamn refreshing in these times. Get this man elected Mayor.
Interesting, I don't love many of his ideas but compared to many of the other candidates he is great. I think that he is a hard worker and will hopefully restore corporate confidence in NY
Yang is painfully naive and unqualified. He’s better than DeBlasio but who isn’t?
22:05 you do not seem to understand the number of serious crimes solved by petty crime apprehension. The number of murder's, even serial killers and mass murder's caught because they were pulled over for broken tail lights and such, is very high. The number of criminal organizations brought down because a single member wanted to get out of a petty Mamajuana bust...
Okay but how many people are in jail because of a victimless crime, the cost of that is huge.
@@wallpello_1534 Define "victimless crime?" speeding, traffic infractions cost lives and property damage. Yes weed should be legal (Canadian here) but as long as it is illegal that money goes to support gangs and other crimes.
@@russelltimmerman3771 looks like we both agree that making weed illegal doesn't help anything, victimless crime are things made illegal that have no victim, like weed or cocaine

Thank you Sam for introducing me to Andrew, and Andrew thank you for introducing me to my better self.
Sam cannot even bring himself to mention the name Rudy Giuliani, the guy who cleaned up New York and turned it around. Unbelievable...
Yeah a man with a couple questionable policies but brought down a crime family, did really clean the city up because it had major problems before him, was the mayor during 9/11.
It’s amazing how the divide grows. His label was literally “America’s Mayor” and by and large was supported bi-partisan not very long ago.
How do you guys not realize that everyone has been brainwashed. You guys missed your cleaning appointment that’s why you still think the old facts.
rudy's got no one to blame but himself for his ruined reputation.
Because Sam is an uber wealthy ultra liberal and always has been. Trust me, he cares nothing about the average person and crime.
This is a brilliant stepping stone to the White House. Finally someone who’s competent to lead in the modern economy. And a brilliant platform to spread the word.
Well he actually has to get elected and succeed at leading before I would declare him competent. LOL
@@tssmith1701 True, so let's give him a chance. The mayorship of New York City would be a great way to start. Unlike Trump who was a disaster in business and then got catapulted to the White House, amirite? 'Cause people totally cared about him succeeding at leading prior to the presidency. 🙄
If he wins, being mayor of NY will become a badge of shame, not a point of pride. More so than it already is.
@@duncanfromunderthebridge Damn, rein in your positivity there, Duncan. NY has been turned around before, and it can be done again.
I'm glad he agreed to do this. A lot of people have been treating Sam like a bit of a pariah, lately.

“Lately”? More like always! Thankfully Sam always has the proper rebuttals...
What is this, Andrew and the Chipmunks?
It's a side effect of the 'rona
lol you son of a gun
Yes! So excited for this one
I wish they'd do more to talk about drug treatment beyond decriminalization. As much as we want to ignore it, drugs are linked to pretty much all other crime. If we don't have some sort of enforced treatment set up, it's going to go terribly.
How is it done in the civilized parts of europe
Crime leads to other crime, don't make things that shouldn't be crimes illegal and the cycle doesn't start.
@@wallpello_1534 the reason I say so is that it isn't a crime leads to other crime. People start committing other crimes to support their drug habit. Heroin addiction can become a $200 a day habit pretty quickly, and people usually support that through theft. Heroin being legal doesn't do anything to change that.
@@hoeraufist can you say the same thing about caffeine, cigarettes and alcohol? The only reason "drugs" are so expensive is because they are illegal.
@@wallpello_1534 no, I really can't. There's definitely a psychoactive addition when it comes to those things, but nothing, and I mean nothing, comes close to heroin and meth in terms of the severity of the addiction. And the amount of crime people commit to sustain the habit. Like, shrooms and LSD are illegal, but you don't see people car clouting to support those habits.
Nice to see Yang on the podcast. Wonder why his voice sounds off though. Maybe mic issues or from covid.
One small problem with UBI in NYC: they don't print their own currency - but maybe they should

The high-pitched voice thing has happened in other podcasts too. I think there was a Bill Burr podcast with the same issue recently. What's up with this? Is there some technical reason for it?
Condenser microphones are more sensitive than dynamics and can be used from greater distance away. But the lower frequencies in your voice is picked up much better up close.
So it could be a combination of microphone too far away, plus just a mic that is designed to flatten lower frequencies (usually done to increase intelligibility of spoken word for podcasts or such).
Could be software obviously. Can't think of why it'd be more common lately.
@@libertyprime9307 The result of that would be like if you turned the bass down (or treble up). Not a helium-like effect as we see here. You need to actually shift the pitches to different frequencies to get that effect, not just change their relative volumes.
@@andybaldman The reason it can be different than tuning treble or bass like you normally would for output, is that those dials and settings are usually the extreme ends of the spectrum. But a microphone can be tuned to raise or lower any, and multiple frequencies.
For example my mic lessens the frequencies in a certain bass range, probably to increase intelligibility, but then there's a sudden dip in the curve where it lessens a very particular frequency, before spiking back up again. I can only assume, to make sibilance less harsh (hard "-S" sounds).
I'm not saying it's common to get something this extreme, but if you really iron out the lows and crank the highs, you can get that helium kind of effect as long as those highs are present to begin with.
Probably a combination of other factors though.
@@libertyprime9307 I'm an electrical engineer. I understand these systems. A mic alone isn't going to make one frequency into another. That isn't how they work. All you can do is change the amplitudes of various frequencies, which isn't what creates the helium sound. That requires frequency shifting, not changing the amplitudes of frequencies that are already there.
@@andybaldman When I say raise or lower certain frequencies, changing the amplitudes of them is exactly what I'm referring to.
"A mic alone isn't going to make one frequency into another"
I said:
"you can get that helium kind of effect as long as those highs are present to begin with."
So it sounds like we're in agreement.

His explanation of how crime will be lowered wasn't really an explanation.
It’s true, but I trust Yang over anyone else running for NYC Mayor
All else being equal legalizing some criminal acts would reduce crime. It does also free up resources that can be used to focus on other crime. That's how I interpreted it.
21:16 its not about quantity, its about quality. The "blue wall of silence" is an impediment to building trust
Since hearing Yang on the Rogan podcast and since then seeing him comport himself well in all manner of debates, bringing fresh perspectives, and a measured, civilized, thoughtful tone to each discussion, I have to admit, I will give him a chance. Let's get this man on a ballot.
Why is it that the cities with "afordable housing" have the most expensive houses?
Because most subsidy programs just end up in the pockets of the landlords. For successfully providing housing look at the Vienna model.
@@alexsch2514 Why do we have to look so far? Take a look at Texas and Florida. Its cheaper to build and because its cheaper to build, buying and renting is cheaper. Los Angeles and NYC are the cities with the oldest affordable housing laws in the nation and they have accomplished nothing with it.
Cause they keep kicking the can and foreign speculation, ownership drives up prices. The powers want it this way, it drives natives out and it makes it profitable to have poverty
“Affordable housing” is a joke of a system. If it has to be in the name 9/10 times it is the opposite of what it is claiming to be.
The cost is always picked up somewhere. What is “affordable” for one person through the state makes it much more expensive for the rest. Just like what is “free” for one person costs others money to make it “free” for that person. The cost always goes to the more useful and responsible in society.
@@amorfati4927 vienna actually does it effectively
How come the sound quality of Andrew Yang is so poor?
Heck Yeah!
The I will sir made me smile.
Re: office space occupancy. This is mostly due to the 'investment' nature of New York real estate. Many properties are bought through bank loans and are valued based on the asking amount for rental. This creates a situation where an 'owner' would rather the place stay empty for decades than reduce the asking price. In a normal situation the laws of supply and demand would result in occupancy staying fairly high at all times with rents fluctuating depending on demand. That is NOT how it works in New York because of the above financial issue. The danger is that at some point the bubble might burst creating financial chaos for New York.
I'm sure you are aware of how your podcast music choice has an emotional impact.
"Go get it," Andrew!!
Sam Harris and Andrew Yang at once, this made my day!
I'm in Australia . I wish we had a Yang and Harris. Our polatitions duck around questions and fight each other rather than have discussions . We need more people around the world in power who can think clearly talk clearly and act respectfully .
You have got to be kidding! Yang is in bed with Silicon Valley and Harris is an uber wealthy trust fund baby. Neither have the average person in mind. They are elitists.
Ranked voting is a no-brainer. Why the fuck are we not already doing that?
It is so clear that many of the people criticizing Yang haven’t been living in NYC for at least a few years.
Two of my all time favourite public intellectuals.
Sounds like Andrew thinks putting minority police officers in predominantly minority neighborhoods is the answer (24:40). I personally would love to see this implemented. It's an interesting theory that has never been tried in a widescale way. Bigger question is, what will you do when it turns out that wasn't a foolproof solution at all?
The only way UBI works without completely collapsing the value of currency is to also have UBJ, Universal Basic Job. If you want the UBI, you have to work the UBJ. Any approach that simply gives everyone a standard minimum income for producing nothing will result in a very sharp rise in basic costs for commodities. The government will respond to those sharp increases in prices with price regulation. Unfortunately, the eventuality of this is a repeat of the same mistakes that have already been made in the 20th century that lead to the deaths of tens of millions.
The problems with New York are just beginning almost all of its tax base is gone. Anyone with money and any sense would move out of there and never come back as just the sheer density of people presents low quality of life and a high chance of contagion. Where do want to be when the next pandemic hits, LA will start to look good compared to all the homeless that are going to be piling up in NY.

The old ways are not working for many reasons some of which we surely don't understand. We are going to have to think like scientists and look at the data, try stuff and learn and improve. We need to keep away from flinging labels and rather sit down and do some deep critical thinking.
