Exploring the mind and and possibilities with psychedelics for therapeutic reasons is pretty f’n scientific to me given that we need more medicine options than the currently available hyper-addictive opiates (which the corrupted big pharma scientists and Doctors you probably support are responsible for America’s addictiion crisis, preying on vulnerable Americans). Lets hear about which scientists we need to be supporting according to your master opinion?

I haven’t experimented, but I ate a pot brownie once thinking it was a simple high. It wasn’t. Hold onto your seats. Before I was immobilized on the couch watching tv fighting off the clouds of hysteria, wrangling the death grip of the angry metronome while contemplating the distance to a glass of water and fighting off fears that dying of dehydration was impossible, I had the most revelatory time of my life. Time split into two distinct planes. My experiences were congruent, I was either two people, or in two places. It almost convinced me that we aren’t in one place. I had a brief moment of 2 sets of perspective which if it weren’t for the brevity of the moment would have upset reality. This experience has kept me from experimenting further. Sam should experiment more so he can speak w experience so I don’t have to. Ill stay here. (Both of me)

Do you have a family history of schizophrenia? People's reactions are very different to the same dose of edibles. Those with risk factors might develop anxiety or schizophrenia.
If you're ready to give it another try, make sure you start with a small dose next time.

Homemade edibles are notoriously overdosed. The people making them often can't do the simple math to get the dose reasonably close to what is considering a good starting dose for a first time user, which is about 10mg. My brother in law had sworn off edibles after an experience that was super dissociative for him. I inquired about it and he said his friend used a half ounce of weed to make one pan of brownies and then cut them like regular brownies. A half ounce is 13 grams, give or take, and assuming 20% THC content and a 90% extraction, which is pretty typical, that means the pan had a total of 2500mgs. 1 brownie = around 250mgs.....or 25x what is considered a reasonable first experimentation. A "heroic" dose for someone who is experienced with this stuff. Yeah, that's not gonna be much fun. But he survived and was fine and now will eat them with me when he comes over in reasonable doses. We have a lot of fun and nobody ends up on 2 planes of existence. LOL.

Sam, you should have Hamilton Morris on the show! He has lots of great ideas about psychedelics and drugs/drug policy in general.
I am probably going to do another shroom trip soon, though I am honestly a little scairt. I have OCD/Tourette's, possibly bipolar or mild schizophrenia on top of that. Some damn thing. (I have been told vastly different things by different doctors, after telling them the same exact information.) I have had vocal and facial tics all my life, along with obsessive worries about things that probably do not exist. My first shroom trip blew all these symptoms out of the water for a few years, before whatever disorder it is reared its ugly head in my early twenties and landed me in the psych ward twice for "nervous breakdowns," complete with psychotic delusions. I hated the medications they tried to give me and turned to alcohol, which resulted in my accumulation of quite the little criminal record, not to mention health problems and the devastation of personal relationships. Once upon a time I was sure I would eventually be a professor, but that ship sailed long ago.
While I have a natural fear of these substances and their life-altering effects, I have read psilocybin shows potential for OCD treatment in particular, and I believe that is the primary underlying disorder that caused the "breakdowns." I figure I will soon go to a nice lake or other natural setting, and take the plunge. I hope my reaction will be, "Boy, I wish I had done this years ago." If it snaps the frayed thread from which my sanity hangs, oh well, hospital food isn't all that bad. Haha.

The action isnt "taken" as much as takes place.
The simplest answer is ; reaching deep levels of calm, self acceptance , accepting others, accepting death.
Those are far from the only benefits but are all common for people to experience with psychedelics.
If youre still stuck on action well its pretty easy to imagine what type of actions would occur.
      People would in turn
      treat themselves and others better,

My theory is that "bad trips" come from that lasting bit of reality you still have on lower doses. Higher doses make reality go out the window and you don't have the experience of tripping out from a perspective that's still somewhat grounded in reality. If that makes sense lol

I think it's a bit naive to say having done a lot of different variations of substances isn't useful. In fact I think it's more useful than going deep with only a couple of them.
Each one tells you its own lies and pulls you in some direction that you may think is good for your life, but might not be ideal - or even good - after all. Go too deep in one direction and you're stuck in a tunnel of the biases one of them produces.
Also not even just different types of psychedelics! For example Ketamine has done more self-therapy for me in realistically guiding my life in a helpful direction than anything else.

I don't agree that MDMA isn't a psychedelic. It certainly is, it is just a very weak such and you need a high dose to experience it for a short while. But when you focus on it with your mind you can get to the same place as you do on LSD for instance. If I close my eyes I can get to a +100ug LSD space on just 40mg of MDMA. But then of course I have to focus and that is not really what you are supposed to with psychedelics. It should force you there, not allow you to get there.
