You got the point as we see in our time they are anti everything - civilization, humans' quality of life (to move forward to improve the life but they seem want to go back to live in the past so we see the people of these countries are suffered from poverty if they are not lucky to have oil), peace (they even fight against each other if they think those people are not so religious enough besides people who are not the followers in their society).

I’m a 27 year old from the Midwest who is gay, leans left, and is also horrified by the general brain dead response to this whole event. After October 7th last year, I have never changed my opinion that Hamas and Palestine, as well as the general Muslim response to this thing were as evil as can be. It’s literally the definition of evil. But I’ve been shocked by how many people my age, whose opinions I previously respected, have shown support for Hamas and contempt for the Jewish people. To be clear, support for the Jewish people in this situation comes down to two things: intelligence and morals. Thats it

Sam put it well when he said our "Western values" have been "delicately flipped" from within. It's not just because of Islamism but that's besides the point- a large majority of our generation is culturally unreachable by our institutions, corporations, boomers, millenials even. We in the U.K., as well as terror attacks from Islamists, have greatly suffered, for decades from the Muslim grooming gangs. Doing the maths, that's.... $235 million per year from Qatar to U.S. universities.
Qatar's donations to the poor, beleaguered, beloved and dear-to-their-hearts Palestinians? Well, in 2022 they gave UNRWA... $10.5 million. You know... about 1/20th of what they give to universities in the U.S., which desperately need that money.
I used to be a fundamentalist Christian who used to believe that everything in the Bible was the word of God. I suspect it is only because of my past commitment to that kind of theology that I have come to be so concerned about other forms of fundamentalism, particularly this one. Those kinds of belief are a firewall against reason and they self-evidently can and often do lead to appalling intolerance, violence, horror and destruction.
I fear that the vast majority of people who have never themselves had a fundamentalist mind-set have very little idea of the seriousness of the situation. Sam Harris is at least one great exception.
As bad as fundamentalism is in general. Islam is incomparable to Christianity or any religion for that matter. As the youth nowadays say, there's levels to this.

As for other lofty moral relativists who find excuses for the dregs of humanity, I recall French "sociologist-philosopher" Alain Badiou after 9/11 explaining that the US somehow had it coming, and Noam Chomsky, after the Charlie Hebdo and Kosher supermarket massacres of January 7 to 10, 2015, finding excuses for the culprits due to their social class. These people had pledged allegiance to Al Qaeda and to ISIS and had received training in Yemen.

- He turned the university into a major research institution, was the first President of Princeton to admit and actively recruit Catholic and Jewish students and faculty- hence Einstein as an aside.
- He’s the only US president with a Phd, in a highly competitive field for his time.
- He was the first to emphasise science as a research topic at the University.
- As US president, he turned WW1 around. After the entry of the United States in 1917, the slaughter was basically over. Hence the fact that his name, surprisingly to Americans, is the most frequently used for European streets, train stations, subway stops, schools, etc. , of all American Presidents. Jews uploaded tonnes of their DNA test results to websites like MyHeritage t, there are plenty of scientific studies of the origin of Jews including mass DNA tests. But what can convince you that the Jews are not reptiles from Poland?

Go to Christian, Muslim or Jewish issuers, they will marry you anyway but there are (extremist?) lobby groups blocking secular non religious unions because politics. I’ve listened to this over and over. As a Jew and supporter of Israel I am grateful to Sam for articulating the issues of Israel’s right to defend itself, as well as the threat that the West faces from Islamism, without falling into the right wing trap of demonization of individuals. Sam even promotes the idea of welcoming more people from Muslim countries, specifically those who can explain to the west and to fellow Muslims (liberal Muslims and especially apostates) how Islamists and Jihadists intend to undermine the west, as we see in Britain.

In Berkeley, CA, teachers at a public middle school took their students on several pro-Palestinian walkouts. One of the walkouts of 100 students stopped by the Jewish community pre-school (which accepts children of any faith or background) with bullhorns, stayed there for a while and then returned back to school. Group was accompanied by the teachers and two women in a conservative Muslim attire. One may wonder why demands of the immediate ceasefire has to be aimed at the American preschoolers. The same day, a graffiti was posted on the white board at the same school "such-and-such HATES JEWS. We stand with such-and-such!" . This happened two days AFTER the head of Berkeley Unified School District claimed at congressional hearing that there is no bias in Berkeley schools. Just to remind that middle school age is 11-13. About the same age Hamas trains their school students to hate and Jews. This is the face of American woke left now and their interpretation of freedom of speech.

I grew up in Kazakhstan and I have to say I’m now grateful to our Soviet past for the secularism it embedded in my generation’s consciousness, when growing up I did not hear a word about Islam and its Prophet. I was still clueless about the theology of my country’s religion until recently. If it wasn’t for the Soviet Union, Kazakhstan and other former Soviet Asian countries would have been a very different region, soaked in Islam.
Same happened to Albania. They're very secular thanks to former hardcore communism that prohibited all religion. While communism was bad, at least it had a positive impact on secularism.

I’ve been listening to you for years Sam and I consider you a true voice of wisdom and clarity. But your take on Israel clearly has a few gaps that cannot be ignored. I’m saying it from a Central European perspective which means I don’t know what exactly the student protests are about.
I fully agree with you on the issue of Islam and religion as s whole. But saying that Israel has the right to do what they’re doing and equating it to Ukraine in a previous podcast, is beyond my sense of morals. So from an average, white, European person’s standpoint Israel has been stealing land via the settler movement and illegally driving people from their homes for decades under the pretext of security and god given right. They’ve been enforcing policies of apartheid and occupying land that is not theirs by international law. UN clearly stated multiple times that Israel committed crimes even before this war. I have nothing against the people. Israel claims they want peace but for decades they’ve proven time and time again that they just want all the land for themselves.

Your take has a few gaps as well. I believe Sam has stated multiple times elsewhere his criticisms of the current Israeli govt. Then, to say that the protests have nothing to do with antisemitism is hiding your head in the sand. Read some of the chants being shouted by hundreds at these protests. And the Palestiniens are even more culpable of not wanting peace and wanting all the land for themselves (multiple partition plans rejected, multiple intifadas, "from the river to the sea", etc). Lastly, and unfortunately, anything Israel does will lead to undesirable outcomes. It’s really an unfortunate situation :(

Sam conveniently ignores the fact that multiple Israeli experts on genocide have said that what Israel is doing is a genocide including Professor Raz Segal, Professor Omer Bartov, and Professor Amos Goldberg. Sam simply isn't interested in searching for the truth with an open-mind on this subject, but rather on promoting his ideological agenda. It's profoundly sad that so many people are taken in by him, and that he is so profoundly taken in by himself. He does have valuable things to say on other topic, but on this topic he's a complete ideologue.
If anyone is ideologically possessed it's the people like you you seem hellbent on forcing this myth of genocide down everyone's throats despite the glaringly obvious other issues such as radical islam. Things were going pretty well in Palestine prior to mass Zionist immigration and the creation of an ethno-state that discriminates against the indigenous population. Sam, who has claimed multiple times that he believes in open discussion, has chosen to create an eco chamber of people who think about his issue in exactly the same way that he does. Thankfully, whilst many people are taken in by his terrible take on this issue many are not. I do appreciate what Sam has to say on many topics, but on this one he's profoundly misguided.

It very interesting that Sam accuses people of moral confusion because that is a projection, he is not only morally confused he doesn't understand what happens in the world. It's only a clueless and ignorant person who finds anything that he says rational. It is a good thing that college kids in the US don't share his views, it gives hope to the world that dissent and opposition to violence is possible in imperial societies.
You don't have to imagine for long what it would be like if opposition to aggression and terror didn't exist internally in imperial societies, try to find the Indian nations which were exterminated and displaced during the formation of the US, that kind of world is what Sam advocates for where the violence of your own state is defended and definitely not demonstrated against. If you think about it, What would Sam say about the settler colonization of America if he lived at that time?? Exactly what he is saying now in the face of the last settler colonial state constructed and supported by the former colonialists. I like Jordan Peterson a lot and I forgot about Sam for a year or two, but when I just now stumbled on a video I instantly got reminded who the verbal boss is.
When you listen to Perterson for a while, anybody else will sound extremely insightful. That's because, for all the big words Peterson uses, he actually says almost nothing of substance.

Vast majority of protesters do not support Hamas and are simply calling for peace, and a stop to the Israeli onslaught on Gaza. You may disagree with them or call them naive, but portray their protest (which includes many Jewish students) as anti-Semitic is intellectually dishonest - Sam should know better. It is possible to be against Hamas terrorism AND be against the brutalization of Palestinians by Israel. A moral person does not need to pick tribe to support - you can call out two wrongs.
Missing is the irony of the fact that Palestine does indeed need freeing... from Hamas who have enslaved, indoctrinated and impoverished the Palestinian people. Israel is in the process of freeing them right now.

Hi Sam, I generally agree with most thing you say and I don't like commenting, but your takes on the Israel-Palestine conflict through the last few videos have been very one-sided and unnuanced. Whenever you say Israel you seem to mean the best people on that side and when you say Palestine it's the worst people. This conflict did not start on October 7th and it would be good if you acknowledged some of the heinous things the Israeli government has done before and after that date. That doesn't mean not condemning the extremists of Hamas and the idiots supporting them abroad, but it means also condemning the extremists in the Israeli government. The people protesting against Israel are not (all) entirely without a point, and the difference with China is that Western governments and institutions are not supporting it. A more balanced take would do much to sway people to your side.
Thank you for helping Western civilization hold on to whatever semblance of logic and reason that it has left. Whatever atrocities are being visited on the Jews today will be visited on the rest of Western civilization tomorrow. It will be a very rude awakening for many of these folks when they realize that they're targets of equal value as any Israeli to organizations such as Hamas. Only the opportunity to reach these targets was ever different.
October 7 atrocities by hama cannot be compared to genocide and ethnic cleansing going on livestream in gaza done by the IDF. It's clear to the students. Why not the Jewish students do anti-hamas demo. One can have their camps on the north end and the other end of the camps. I notice there are many walking paths in the campus. It's quite impossible to block all paths to class. Both sides can have their camps. No need to call the police. Police action have given more publicity to pro-Palestine cause.
I think Israel will be fine, because it defends itself actively.
I think Europe on the other hand will falter and be assimilated.

My moral disgust for what Sam says in regards to his attempts to discredit college student protesters is only a veneer. Under that veneer is the deepest sadness I feel about how people like Sam are using their minds to suffocate their ability to see the nakedness of the emperor they worship. The issue for students is too simple for people ideologically motivated like Sam. The issue is protesting the **funding and justification of the murder of innocents RIGHT NOW.** That Sam can find the time to base entire arguments on outlier data points that he claims refutes that issue shows he has stopped making sense.
