Oh boy, that's hard when 13 players all rushes to the same side.... wich is happening way too often. The auto defeat call is way above 80% no matter how i decide to deal with it.
By design, you will lose about half of your games, no matter how good or bad your team is. So unless your winrate is only about 20%, you are not losing 80% of your games. So instead of becoming one of these toxic whiners in chat, accept the bad games and focus on the good games. And if your winrate is 45% or less, chances are it's you and not the team. If you make it an "auto defeat" and throw away your tank in the first 30s, than the loss becomes a self fulfilling prophecy. And don't forget, no matter how bad your team might be, the enemy team might just be worse...
@@leamaelgamer5814 Not only is this a bad comment making ridiculous assumptions but you haven't even managed to understand that I've said that "all on the same side of the map" games have about an 80% lost ratio. I stopped playing WoT 3 years ago and that’s the secret to a peacefull life. Also realised I have a GF of 2 years. Crazy stuff happens when u turn Rage Simulator off xD
The most sensible video I've seen in a while on WoT. Kajzoo's video on understanding mechanics and this on the minimap should go hand in hand to any new players or current players. Good job!
Kajzoo? That super unicum that QB talks trash about on a regular basis? He's in a different league to QB, and far less toxic. That should be the #1 tip; don't be toxic
Sounds like you'd benefit from keeping an eye on the spotting indicators on the players list. There's a dot next to the player name/vehicle, if it's orange they're spotted right now, if it's gray they were spotted at some point. (please do note that since the latest patch those stupid epic level thingies make these harder to see). Now, how does it help a person like you, who stays at the back or on one flank and doesn't know whether moving is a viable option? Let's say we're on Prokho. By mid-game, after having a quick look at these indicators, you can easily figure out which tanks on the enemy team are camping on the western corridor. A regular bunch of TDs and their light is somewhere there? Nope nope nope. Or, it's a lower tier game, their lights are gone, there's an unspotted TD but also there are two KV1s which weren't spotted since the start of the game. (don't ask me why, it's always KV1s camping there). Might be time for some action.
You should have picked a game where at the 5-minute mark 10 players from your team had Died instead of holding their ground 6:15 exactly, you put a title suggesting "this is how to open the book on influencing games" and then all of it is equal and balanced teams fighting it out for almost ten minutes, which NEVER happens
the secret is mainly to watch you QB and playing every once in a while for a few games before the bad MM, op tanks and 15-0 3 minute roflstomp games gets to your head, burning you out completely so that you dont want to touch this game for like the next year or so
Yeah it's been like that for the last 12 years, and I don't see it changing, some things are better, but it's mostly about the same, except for power creep, which is worse.
7 out of 10 players are camping and waiting for someone to spot enemies for them. Add on top of that match making and there you have reason why people are stopping to play this game which used to have potential...
I never even thought of trying this. I am NOT the best player, and I stopped playing WoT quite a while ago. But now you posted this video, and I might just give WoT another shot. Thank you very much for this. I found it very helpful!
what realy helped me to get more focus on MaxiMap is .. i know some of you don't like it .. playing arty. here you NEED to use it to find targets, see when it is time to run (if still possible) or to prepare for some self defense - not drowning, don't be a coward. while playing arty you also have a chance to pay attention to the MaxiMap, as there is time between taking your shots and do what you are for in the battle - support your team the best way you can.
In addition to the map, the player list with which tanks are and have been lit up is a another key. That way you know how many hidden tanks might be on your flank and how much of a risk it is to move forward. The worst part of the mini-map is looking and realizing your team has left a flank wide open and your forced to move to that area to provide some form of defence and warning of their sweep into your teams rear. Even if the terrain on that flank does not favour your tank/TD.
its worth noting that not every tank can do this kind of thing. If the maus for instance picks the wrong lane where all the other enemy heavies went, youre not going to be able to get him back there in time to fix that. if a fast tank destroyer gets stuck in to a nice spot and gets their camo net up, but barely anyone shows up, they cant leave that spot, their moving camo wont prevent them from being shot. arty is always stuck where they are. It is really up to mediums to change flanks and maneuver, and it is crucial that light tank players find that early information that lets the rest of the team know where to go, or where to commit to before they get too far.
not saying you cant recommit and change lanes, flanks or spots, but that it is much more important for medium and light tank players to maximize their dpm and their spotting by staying on the move.
One thing about map relocation - Yes it is important, provided your team has enough map control to allow that sort of play. In this map, friendlies held the hill, south & north which gives you access to ~65% of the map for movement & control over ~90% useful spots on the map. Movement becomes impossible when the situation gets reversed and u end up hugging a rock, trying to cause as much damage as possible before the inevitable
Yup. Just peek at the map when you're reloading your next round and assess your situation. Tunnel vision is a hard demon to free yourself of, but once you do, you'll see a huge improvement on your overall gameplay.
I describe it to people as world of circles. Unless you're on Ensk or somewhere that's equally just a straight brawl, it's all about the spotting mechanic. Can't see it, can't shoot it. Learning to properly use the vision indicators on the map is key.
Step 1: pray that your team and you get blessed by rng. Step 2: If blessed, win the game Step 2.1: If not blessed, blame your team, die and go next, returning to step 1. u are so righht, Mini map is #1 But u have so many players that don't have the "Ballz" to make moves and all they do is play safe or just to farm points.. Great video
@majorrenegade1634 I disagree, imo learning the mechanics through the line helps you develop a better understanding of the game through repetition. If the player stays at tier 7-8 and makes a crew for the Leo in mind, they will have a good base to branch out of. The Leo line is pretty much a one trick pony, get camo and view range, use gun. If the player over commits to a flank, they have the mobility to leave and reset their approach. If the player rushes for the Leo and doesn't stop at 7-8 for a while, they will still have a good gun, with good accuracy and pen, and cammo to use. Sure a new player will not be able to brawl so to speak and bounce shots, but most new players will not know how to do that regardless if they're in a paper tank or super heavy, rather new players will often resort to driving around the target to get easy side shots even if in close combat. The Leo allows that to be successful even for a new player because the decent alpha and dpm will often come out on top of heavy tanks. Tldr I introduced a friend to wot and recommend the leo, where he had great success and learned the hard way how to play making him a better player overall with now a 58% W/R
Loved this video! Would you be able to make one on driving slower tanks? I often get myself in the situation where I know I'm in a bad position where I can't do much to help my team but if I push forward I will get killed and I don't have the speed to make a big maneuver like this.
I'm not the best shooter, but I believe I'm one of the better strategists. Couldn't agree more. Often see people just pushing one side or the other without regard to what is happening elsewhere, and end up losing the game. Worst is when multiple tanks chase down 1 or 2 especially arty for easy kills while the rest of the team is getting decimated.
Just play for fun and don’t be so concerned about trying to win every game. And that’s coming from someone who had to change his username to “HowieThrowing”. My one wish is for my teams to be present at my funeral when my casket is being lowered so that they can let me down one more time
Playing on a 21:9 monitor (and ofc on a 32:9 as well) allows you to completely maximise your minimap while losing none of the FoV you would get on a 16:9
Don't always concentrate on what's in front of you. Look at the map and make a move according to formation. Either to beef up an area (prevent enemy flanking) or move to create flanking. Play according to your tank abilities. Save armor until mid to the end so you can tit-for-tat knowing you will survive an (or multiple) encounter till the end.
How do I fix the other teammates who leave one flank wide open? Or Lights/Med who take TD positions way in the back? Or TDs that wont shoot what I'm spotting in a light?
This is a great video Quackybabs! Minimap awareness, or awareness in general, is the first step to being a much better player. It would be great if you next vid was the 2nd in a series of simple how to get better vids. Examples; Setting of your gun reticule for pen. I am shocked how many don't have this. Also how to load better ammo and that it does NOT cost gold anymore. What about learning to leave a bad situation in time to make a difference? OR a very basic concealment video. Usually the videos have to much to parse in one vid. When you specify, like this one it is much more beneficial to "lower level" players. THANKS!
Ha I wish that could happen when I play and try to make a bold play Everytime I do I realize my team are cowards and I'm by myself or I'm the fall guy. My luck the 183 would have been where the fv was unspotted and would have one shot me. That's WHAT REALLLY HAPPENS in my little piece of heaven
all you gotta do is: 1. analyze the team comp 2. determine who is the most dangerous tank on the enemy team. That's your win condition. 3. Determine how you're going to position your tank with respect to its specs and the specs of enemy tanks you'll face. 4. Keep an eye on the minimap and analyze what you can do to fulfil your win condition. P.S: heavies typically occupy the close quarter combat areas of the map while lighter tanks fight for the opportunity to flank the heavies.
Just got the obsidian, find it pretty decend but it should go 50 to be anything special. Made some good freinds grinding keys though i liked the gamemode
On top of this also making note of which enemy tanks have been spotted and which hasn't. Especially in the end games makes a huge difference if you know 100% all enemy tanks last positions.
The map is important but experience with learning to read how the match is progressing according to map data and trying to predict where the unspotted tanks are can make or break a match. Too many people able to run right to tier X’s with no real experience of how to play has become a big headache
The secret of winining in WOT imo, are the light tanks, the more effective they are in a battle, the more likely the battle will be won, because they're the one doing the spotting and the killing of the arty, but unfortunately there are players who play like sh*t and die in the first minutes...
this is pure theory and has nothing to do with reality in wot, the only secret is RNG and Random matchmaking: If you're matched against Muppets and potatoes you win, if they are on your team you lose. thats it. this game is not worth the sweat and try hard and dedication because no matter how hard you try, these 2 points will only and only decide the result of the game.
When I run around Mt. I run into 3 enemy doing the same thing. Yes I can look at the mini map and see 7 spotted and assume where a couple tds or arty might be but that’s as far as it goes. If you get no support on a flank best to just abandon it.
I have learned to locate as quickly as possible to a spotting or sniping position. Then wait for the opponent to show up. Not too far forward so you get surrounded. Watch the mini map.
Great video! However I think the main problem that I do and many others is that we commit too deep into enemy lines, making it impossible to escape. For example in your video, 9 times out of 10 there would be a Grille or something slapping you for 750 dmg in the face at H9. Or a light tank constantly spotting you from the lighthouse. At the end of the video, that Deathstar could have been sitting at J2 smacking you for a lot.
I haven’t played WoT for like 3 years and still watching you seance the time I used to play . Now am thinking to get laptop as am always travelling with work but would like to play time to time . Any suggestions for a laptop in UK ?
Have you info how to play better with td then only snipe with grille 15? sometimes they ask me rush in with heavy's and i die quickly :( must i snipe with grille or must i push and shoot?
The secret is accepting that the game is titled a free to play but in reality it's a pay to win model and if you aren't spending money on the game, you'll deal with a lot of frustrations because the cards are stacked against you.
I am a n00b with not even 1000 match, and according to my experience, so far, knowledge is key, knowledge of the map, knowledge of the adversary tank, and of course knowledge of your own tank.
I am a new player (2-3 hrs) & i have just nailed this game for some reason, always top 3, best game was 7 kills & 10k dmg. Will this end? When do i start becoming "annoyed" with the game?
The best secret about world of tanks is that the way you will enjoy it most is by watching replays and occasionally the live stream. I have watched poker players lose 10k and look less miserable than some of the more well known streams lose 10 random games in a row.
Before the start of every game I always say " The mini map is your friend, use it, you'll live longer. " I wish I could relocate the mini map to a different part of the screen given it's present position. I would rather have the mini map located in the upper right of the screen because it easier to glance up than down. I do not see why WG cannot/does not have this ability built into the UI to allow players to put or remove battle screen info where it would best suit what information is relevant to their play style. If someone developed a mod to allow that function and not glitch the game, it would be in my mod folder in New York minute.
Started playing this game in 2012, was (and still am) completely shit at playing it. Stopped a year later and since then im just watching QBs vids about the game. Am i the only one?? Last time i logged in and played i still had de kv1s with the 122mm. So much has changed, i like watching the game way more then playing it.
I started playing Jan 2013. Then I stopped playing 2016 and had a five year break. Still carried on watching vids all the way through that. Started playing again 2021. It's not as much fun as it used to be in the old days for various reasons but I'm still playing a few games every week.
I've stopped because of how toxic everything's become: after just 3 matches, i've got enough toxic radioactive material on me from toxic nuclear meltdowns by sweaty tryhards that i could scrape it off and fuel a large nuclear power plant, then you got toxic garbage like BZ's that have no business being where they are crushing everything with impunity, then you got Matchmaker which always by design screws you over because of the 3-5-7 rule, yes i sound like a old boomer saying that ten years ago, it was better.....but it was, you had no powercreep garbage like BZ's,Skodas or Burrasque's, the biggest nemesis' back then was the KV-1S and the Hellcat, but hey, for all there strengths, they at least could be killed unlike BZ's, and they were tech tree machines, so anyone could get one, also back then any class pretty much had equal chances, versus nowadays where it's hulldown heavies or nothing. Truly shocking how far this game has fallen all to appease the sweats and elite gamer bros who only care for score and stats. They wanted arty nerfed, they got it several times, they wanted a more sweaty defender, they got 2: the T56 and the BZ, they call for more hulldown zones on maps, they got it, i'm halfway surprised WG hasn't caved to them on the Chieftain and 279e nerfs. But give it time, they prolly will, or even worse, come christmas time now or next year, they'll put an even more sweaty lootbox tank as a "were sorry" compensation for them nerfing the chief and 279e.
I don't know what distance i am concealed from the enemy while i spot the enemy. It doesn't show. And once i was with a heavy tank in a bush and i was spotting there but some tank saw me. So can i be seen even if inside a bush?
I remember playing wot wayback 2013 with no some lines and round shape on that minimap qb is right. Rely on that mini map + situational awareness learn to use bush and also be a good team player.
I have a terrible win ratio, I’m almost always top player by a far though, I tend to sacrifice my hp for the team but always get guys that hang back, full hp and do no damage.

I agree with the general message, but in my experience, not everyone can do it.
Ngl you got me back into this game! Keep up the work
This is a great video Quackybabs!
THANKS!
Ha I wish that could happen when I play and try to make a bold play
Everytime I do I realize my team are cowards and I'm by myself or I'm the fall guy. My luck the 183 would have been where the fv was unspotted and would have one shot me. That's WHAT REALLLY HAPPENS in my little piece of heaven
all you gotta do is:
1. analyze the team comp
2. determine who is the most dangerous tank on the enemy team.
Map awareness is everything in this game. Still is mind boggling that i see players with 50k games or more completely ignore the map
The real secret of WoT is Egobaby
I just upgraded my laptop from a decent one to a great one and I'm already 50% better than before 😂
On the interface on both the left and right, how do you get it to display the Tier of each tank. Mine only has the tank symbol, no tier number. thanks
Id say macro movement is much more important than micro movement in terms of what players seeking to improve need to prioritize and learn.
Just got the obsidian, find it pretty decend but it should go 50 to be anything special. Made some good freinds grinding keys though i liked the gamemode
As chems said before leaving WoT: “The only winning move is to not play.”
There are also players, who sit at the back of the map, and never move... it's pointless to spot for them.
So many people ignore the mini map at critical times in a battle.
this is pure theory and has nothing to do with reality in wot, the only secret is RNG and Random matchmaking: If you're matched against Muppets and potatoes you win, if they are on your team you lose. thats it. this game is not worth the sweat and try hard and dedication because no matter how hard you try, these 2 points will only and only decide the result of the game.
Great advise. Basic military tactical tenet, reinforce success.
When I run around Mt. I run into 3 enemy doing the same thing. Yes I can look at the mini map and see 7 spotted and assume where a couple tds or arty might be but that’s as far as it goes. If you get no support on a flank best to just abandon it.
WOW! How did a QuickyBaby video get into my 'youtube algorithm'? I haven't seen a 'QuickyBaby' video since about 2 years before 'Covid'...
Great video, QuickyBaby...
I have learned to locate as quickly as possible to a spotting or sniping position. Then wait for the opponent to show up. Not too far forward so you get surrounded. Watch the mini map.
I do use the mini map, but will try and use it more. Some players do not use it, clearly, hopefully if they watch this they will do so. Thanks.
I wish I had map knowledge as you do. If you don't know positions bombing it around as you call it the mini map does no good.
To all intents and purposes this is good advice!
The best secret about world of tanks is that the way you will enjoy it most is by watching replays and occasionally the live stream.
I have watched poker players lose 10k and look less miserable than some of the more well known streams lose 10 random games in a row.
This is a great video!! Grinding put my Standard B has made me much more map aware than I've ever been, I've had much better average games since!!
40% Of battles you can't win, 40% of battles you cant lose. It's how you play in the other 20% that makes the difference.
I've had more than one player say they don't even use the map because it blocks their vision...
Oh I was expecting it to be 'Fit a turbo'
yes thats right, but you must have a eye for that, to drive in the right time to the right place^^ and learn it still :)
It's been years since I played, really want to get back in it
RNG permitting, I'm sure you also want to add. It's almost on the tip of your tongue, QB.
''I digress, glasses are not the focus''...well they can of are.
The real secret is not to give a stuff about stats and the like, have a beer and have a laugh with good buddies
7min game thats the problem most games struggle to reach 4 mins
This is a great video
RNG will screw that autopilot for shooting/aiming! When every shot goes nowhere near where you aim with a green reticle
You preach! Tank you.
Bravo! You just discovered hot water.
ppl meme on this guy too much but after all he is really talented and you can learn a lot from him. great content QB!
Thanks QB!
This video should be mandatory for all new players in WOT
I don't know what distance i am concealed from the enemy while i spot the enemy. It doesn't show. And once i was with a heavy tank in a bush and i was spotting there but some tank saw me. So can i be seen even if inside a bush?
Thank man very helpful
For anyone that isn't able to make their map bigger, if you have lower than 1080p resolution it doesn't go past a certain size.
I remember playing wot wayback 2013 with no some lines and round shape on that minimap qb is right. Rely on that mini map + situational awareness learn to use bush and also be a good team player.
The secret is not to always blame teammates when QB makes a noob mistake and dies
I have a terrible win ratio, I’m almost always top player by a far though, I tend to sacrifice my hp for the team but always get guys that hang back, full hp and do no damage.
The minimap is not bind to the + - key at start u have to do switch it from [ ] keys to + - in settings for it to work.
the secret number 1 is pay first, play a stock tank with 75% crew no matter how good you are its awful lol
Thanks so much quickybaby! this gonna help me SO much!
QB, Can the mini map be customised to suit the orientation you are facing? (Kinda like a GPS) Rather than always north on one direction?
It’s so hard to get used to this way..
The Secret to World of Tanks IS have god like RNG.... nothing else!! hahah
Secret is simple. Sit behind others and snipe. WN8 goes up.
Yeah I’ve been watching QB for years but I haven’t played WOT in my rotation of games in 7 years
Keep up the great work. MiniMap IS Your Friend!!!
Secret of WOT is to realize it is only a game.
In "more hungry" you mean to be "less useless to your team"?
