Glad I have Assioma Favero. Reasonably priced and accurate👍
The AXS blip being freed from the additional shifter is one of those "its about time" kind of updates.
Yep. 👌🏼
That saves a lot of money!
Quality content as always Shane! You are my essential source for all of my cycling information! Thanks!
I've been really happy with my quarq PM's, have them on 3 bikes and they have worked flawlessly.
Thanks to you I already reserved my assioma pro MX
Cheers mate 👍
70% of triahtletes soon on a sram 1by Rival + 4 wireless blips. Such a smart move.
Ditched my blip box the day they announced this
Finally an affordable way to get an old rim braked TT bike to go etap. A rival mech, a few clicks and job done?
Any inside news on kickr v5 virtual shift or bolt v1 music control or dark mode?
I get all my update news from you...Garmin, Wahoo etc.
I can appreciate the lowering he volume so I don’t have an even louder noise in my ears in the event I am jamming out and the volume is already louder than I should be
If it was me on Twitter finding that cycling weekly article for you, then I’ve made it 😂😂
Hello! Love your videos, well done. Please note the g in Campagnolo is pronounced like the g in lasagne. Yours truly, Campy Girl.
For whatever reason, the new Super Record looks terrible in pictures and FANTASTIC in person. The rest derailleur does not look bulbous like it does in pictures, and of course all of the rest of it is well, bellissimo!
I had to jump through the flaming hoop to pair blips with the rear mech on my trainer-only bike. This update is late for me, but welcome news.
Any info if would now be able to pair the blips with a AXS dropper?
I know previously it wasn’t possibly but would be a nice addition.
One thing I noticed is SRAM have updated the AXS app. Nice changes are coming.
If I want an Italian powermeter, I'll stick with Favero and avoid the Campy Tax.
Pairing without blips works at least since end of October 2023. SRAM support was quite surprised, I can send you details if interested. Great that they made that official after about 6 months.
Will we be able to flip pages on out garmin headunits with theese blips - or will they only could be used to changing gears?
Campagnolo tinyurl 👌
Well spotted.... 😉
2:18 Red Alert Red Alert 😀😃. Either that or this is llamas you got mail notification 😀.
Pouvez vous me dire si c'est compatible avec mon SRAM RIVAL AXS ?
So I can migrate a spare bike to wireless shifting with just a derailleur and two blips?
Yep. This was possible before if you messed about with introducing a shifter for the pairing process.
What happened to Wahoo Virtual shifting for Kicker V4 & V5? Did it already come out and I just missed it?
Not out yet.
Would be worth these companies sending you a pre production power meter to test before the full release
Will the blips work with AXS Eagle without a paddle/pod shifter?
Yes
That price😂😂
What a joke!
So,power2max with campy cranks is 1000€ so why will somebody pay 2,5 X more?!
Exactly 💯
And it’s their first power rodeo. It’ll still sell.
Just amongst my friends I know two people who bought the Shimano FC-R8100-P (separately, didn't come stock on their bikes), because it's the official product. People willing to spend the unhealthy amount of money on Campagnolo Super Record wireless, which apparently shifts accurately in about 90% of situations (that's seriously bad if you ask me) in the first place probably wouldn't mind spending extra 2.5k on a powermeter that doesn't perform.
Yep.
Campy mechanical will take any they of the week but eps/powermeter no thanx
II'm a Campy Super Record owner and I have been running Favero Assiomas as my power solution. I'll take Campy over Shimano Dura-Ace any day of the week for rider feel and feedback, and that's said whilst having 9150 Dura-Ace on my other bike. Shimano's only advantage is that parts are readily available all over the world (unlike Campy), which is why my Campy bike is limited to North America and European trips only.
Campagnolo are really going to try to push through with their “We're the best, because we say so” marketing strategy. And to be fair, it was mostly true (if not always worth the extra $$) until things went electronic, now they just seem a bit deluded.
💯
i reckon campa is just luxury market now, no wonder no one in the pro peloton is with them
How do you know it's not the best when there wasn't even a review in this video? You don't know if it's the best or worst at this point.
Found the Campagnolo die-hard (or employee). I made comment on the Cycling Weekly data. And that wasn’t looking good.
@@stratocaster660 I was talking about Campy and the way they market themselves as a brand in general, not exactly this PM in particular.
Now if only the blips could control the AXS dropper. Damn They dropped the poo on that one
Hopefully a new Varia this year
It’d be an easy win for Garmin to update to USB-C and maybe squeeze in a little more battery life.
@@gplama With user configurable tones........
@@gplamaaren’t all new products forced to go USB-C these days?
The EU standards list a range of products that now require USB-C. It’s not clear where a radar/light will fall within that policy.
Headlight too, my battery performance is dipping. USBC connection and we are good to go
Is it really safe to listen to music or podcasts whilst cycling? I use my varia all the time with bone conducting headphones and its a game changer. Great content and channel as ever GP Lama, go-to place for top-quality and accurate information.
It depends on the situation. In heavy traffic, I'm always flipping out the headphones or switching it off. On quiet gravel roads or the local rail-trail (56km+ each way) I need something playing to keep me entertained.
Thanks for the kind words about the content and channel too. 🙏🏼
Im using apple airpods pro with transparency mode. Works great for me. Can hear all around me.
I guess with my less than perfect hearing it’s safer 😮 and I do answer phone calls too!
I always listen music for last 5 years, around 60000 km
Can those blips be used to control a head unit ?
Not at this point in time.
I am of the impression the Campag Super Record is a no-show for the 2024 Grand Tours. If I'm right, it makes a big statement on a Groupset once held as a "gold standard". While, on market share, Campag has been a minnow compared to Shimano and Sram, it maintained a strong, constant and loyal following, which seems to now be diminishing.
As an old grannie saying goes Campag should stick to its knitting and focus on refining it's groupset to being one of the best and at a price competitive point. If the pro-teams are opting to kick it to the kerb what's that indicating to the common-all garden roadie.
Campagnolo missing from the Grand Tours (and any World Tour team) is more about the money a company is willing to spend on team sponsorship. I suspect Campagnolo just didn't want to play that game..... but.... in turn they do miss out on the marketing that sponsoring a pro team provides. Having said that, by all reports it's really not a top contender when it comes to performance.
Side note: I attended a Campagnolo press/media event in January that gave no indication of the new Bora wheels, Ekar GT, or their power meter coming in the following months. I expected they'd have given some insight to those who gave up their evening to attend the event. As a one-man-band that just pissed me off to be honest. And having attended their event I'm not even on their media mailing list for releases.
@@gplama I read too Lotto Destiny opted not to use their Zipp hookless rims for Paris Roubaix. It strongly messages they don't have complete faith in the product. Not a great optic
VF Group-Bardiani-CSF-Faizanè are in the Giro this year and are running SR WRL.
Why are campy so adamant about pricing themselves out of the market 😂
Expensive: Yes
Ugly: No
Bikerumor says: „what’s inside are 16 strain gauges arranged in 4 separate Wheatstone bridges and a 1 gyroscope.“ Could it be, that it might be more accurate than anything else?
As their first power meter? Up against power pedals which aren't known to be 8-15% off (in general)... I highly doubt it. What I do know with 100% confidence is never to rely on technical specs alone. Shimano and their meter is case-in-point.
I hope you could get one to test.
@@michaeljohl4669 If I can get a hold of one, I'll put it to the test for sure.
I really do not understand recent choise made by Campagnolo
You're not the only one! There's a few amusing comments I've read this week on other media platforms.
Interesting to see a RUclips reviewer complaining about other RUclipsrs reviews and then judge a product on what other reviewers say without testing it. I think the crank set looks good.
RoadCC had the crank in hand to test. They said in their video they would let us know if it was any good. They had the damn product and they didn’t even test it. They bullshitted their audience. And you’re complaining about my take on that? Cycling Weekly DID test it… and I give kudos for them doing so. And you’re complaining about that?
@@gplama Im just saying. Test it your self. I have more confidence in you testing the product and giving a review of it rather then relying on Cycling Weeklys test.
I guess, when you're paying over €2,000 for a Power Meter, you want it to tell you that you have an FTP of over 200 Watts.
Can't blame Campy for trying. 🤣
Hardly Performing Power Meter is mor like it. Guess they got their quality from Shimano and doubled down on it.
The Varia app tones were one of the most annoying sounds I've ever heard in my life.😵💫
DING DING! BEEP BOOP!
Horse poo?
Holy pile?
The Campag PM is an SRM. They haven't been the best for the last few years. I wouldn't be surprised if the data is a mess.
If you are going to add an Italian accent, please learned how to pronounce Campagnolo properly… the “g” is silent… 🙄😉
I should have really made a mess of it so more people would comment and feed the algorithm. (Also 'learn'... but I'll let that slide) ;)
@@gplama Silly spellcheck from Apple… 😉
