n the 1960s we always had one of those stationary aluminum trees with the plugged-in color wheel on the floor that rotated and shined on the tree. (I can still hear the warm humming sound of the color wheel turning). One year my poor mom got so fed up with us kids relentlessly fighting over where to put the ornaments on the tree she picked up the whole thing and threw it out onto the front, snowy lawn. It was hilarious. She ended up getting us another one because she felt bad. We quickly learned our lesson to "play nice" when it came to decorating the Christmas tree.
An Aluminum Tree is the most beautiful tree ever created. The Trees of this era cant compare with the Magic Beauty of an Aluminum Tree!!I got an Evergleam 8ft and is so magical and special. And the Christmas of the 60's and 70's are full of magic and beauty with this Beautiful Christmas Icon of all time-The Evergleam Aluminum Christmas tree!!
My niece found me one at a garage sale in the late 80s for ten cents! Haha! I put it up in my office cubicle and decorated it with Christmas cards my offices sent me. I unfortunately had to let it go in 1990 when I moved. The vintage color wheels are the things hard to find!
At least that's a reasonable price. I love this story, but I have a hard time with the $800. If someone has that much extra to toss, I can think of some uses that would put a little faith back in humanity and joy in Christmas for many.
In the 1960's, I used twinkle lights on ours. It looked spectacular. The notion of not using lights on these trees really was silly. Yet natural trees, especially when dried out, caused many fires and deaths over the years.
My mom used these weird round frosted bulbs on her pompom tree . I’d come home and turn the tree on every day. And we kept out tree up til Groundhog Day.
I love them so much. It's my fault our family got rid of ours. I wasn't listening to my parents and got burned falling on the bulb of the color wheel of our tree. I wish so much we still had it.
Electrical shock and fires took them off the market. The box clearly stated NO LIGHTS! However idiots still hung the lights on. The reason for the color wheel sold separately.

I dont get why they dont make these anymore. They are worth a fortune now because people want them!
I just found one in my attic still in the box.
Very lucky 😭
I love them. My great aunt had one. I just bought one on etsy and I bought the turn wheel on Ebay.

would be nice to see the collection of aluminum trees.
Aluminum christmastree must get back on this time
wiki claims "a charlie brown christmas" helped to ruin the sale of these trees.

yeah 800 they sell for about 5 bucks at garage sales.
+SantaClaus HawkeyeNJ -- The 8 footers (and early colors) are rare. The 3-4 ft ones are cheap at garage sales.
