Hey. Kimberly, I know I am late to the party, but this video is still a big help to people. I had seen it a while ago and remembered it when I finally got a machine, Thanx so much. By the way I knew you in Germany. I am a retired Dodds teacher.

Your classes were awesome for a first time electric cutting machine. I saw this years ago an only dream of having one. Well I got blessed by someone who no longer needed it. Truest was a great investment of time and money. Thanks again. Congratulations
I love this one!!!! This is my first one ever!! I wanted a cricut but I went with this cause I love the scanner. It's so easy and fun. Still learning this. Love it!!
I figured I'd better say this...so I thought I bought the 125e but apparently it's the 125 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 guess it was switched or I read wrong. O well still love these scan and cut machines!! Amazing!! Thank you for all your wonderful ideas..so fun to create!
I just ordered this model, but I have the CM650w and I wanted to update and see if Brother has improved on the technology. The old models only had a 300 dpi scanner, and the new ones have 600 dpi. I hope the SDX125E will make difference in scanning and cutting accuracy. I bought my first Brother cutter 4 years ago. I was looking for a scan and cut option which is the primary reason I bought a cutting machine. Since then, I have been looking for something I thought might be better, the Silhouette Cameo for instance. Used it once, then got rid of it. I was so frustrated trying to get the print and cut feature to work. Plus, Silhouette and Cricut really limit your cutting area- it is only 7x9 inches or something like that. Brother, uses almost the entire cutting mat area 11.5x11.5 inches! I started reading reviews, like the top models of cutters with print to cut, and none of them even mentioned Brother. BUT, I found out that that does not mean that it isn't a good machine...I think Brother is highly underrated and that crafters go nuts when they hear about a new Cricut machine coming out. Cricuts are just much better known and advertised as a name in craft cutters because Michael's and Wal-Mart carry them. But, I am sticking with Brother because I have never had any issues except for recently with my cuts being off. I found out that is due to the fact that my mats are as old as the cutter and they never load evenly. I am pretty sure a new mat would solve that issue. But, I ordered this model anyway, just today in fact, a boxing day special for $200 off...how could I say no? This video was the clincher for me. I doubt I will ever consider a different brand of cutter now. Thanks. Your video answered some remaining questions I had and removed all my doubt over getting a newer model. So excited!
I finally took the plunge and bought a Scan N Cut the one you are doing the demo on. What a fantastic machine. Why did I wait so long. I know there are tons of things I need to learn but this video got me started. I did a stamped image when you did the DSP and it came out perfect. I'm trying to understand the perimeter thing, You did a great job. Thank you so much

I have a cm350 but use my Cricut most of the time. That is because it is easier for me to use my laptop due to poor vision. The small screen is harder for me. But I started watching your videos and I think that you are one of the best. I am trying to learn more so that I can use my Scan and cut machine also, because of the scanner. Thanks for all that you do to help us.
Hi Kimberly, Happy Anniversary to you and hubby, enjoy the new machine, I hope you get enough use out of it while you are on holidays!! enjoy your time away, TFS, Cheers Anna.
I used the zoom engraving tool on mine. To make my pets tags and cute necklaces for friends. Love it!! However, I did not know that it voids the warranty if you use other products not brother related. I wouldn't change it tho. I had a blast using the zoom engraver tool and just so happy with this. It's so fun! Made cards, cut htv iron on. It's a amazing machine! So excited for you!! Thank you!
Yes! You insert it into the blade holder with one of three attachments that's comes with it. Which are the Different engraving tips mine came with. Then when you go to engrave you tell it to draw. I set the draw pressure to 9. Depending on the metal you engrave and the depth you want, you may need to do several passes. Any art that you can dream of or scan can litterly be engraved on you project. The zoom kit I have came with several dog tags, rings to connect tags, 3 tips and little container to keep it all in. O As well as instructions. It was like $45 on amazon. Which was high for me honestly but I will never regret buying it. I love it. It does work on certain metals better then others. It also is supposed to work on other cutting machines, like the cricut. I dont know how it works on others as I only have the scan and cut. You can Look up engraving Zoom tool. You Should find some youtube videos before you buy. This way you can see it in action. Now I am pretty sure it voids the warranty if you use any tool other then brother tools. I honestly didnt know until after I used it and I was like o well...cause it was amazing!!! Lol I love it! I noticed on the coated dog tags it would take a few times. So I just bought the ones that were uncoated. Figured if anything I'd play around with it until I found the perfect metal. Lol I have used it a ton!! Its my favorite tool. I used the clip arts on the scan and cut and made cute little tags for each pet I have. Engraved business cards...yes they had metal Buisness cards on amazon. So I was like let's see. I used several different fonts. So that did take a while to engrave but it was fun. Did perfect. O and in draw settings you can fill. To have it all colored in or have the hashmark s or different lines go on each word or letter. Depends on how far you want to go with it. I personally love it! I hope this helps:)

Mary, I still love dies and embossing folders. There is no substitute for intricate dies. I think this does a great job cutting out stamped images with well defined lines. Thanks for watching.
I wish I would have watched this video of your before I purchased Brother ScanNcut SDX125😭. I want the option to be able to use it in my travels and just learnt from your video , I cant. Congratulations on your new machine! Your husband gets extra credit for an awesome anniversary gift. You didn’t finish the story about your husband’s mower...did they replace it? I love your videos and have most of your tutorials for my machine, Dx125.. I love that you take us through each step and that you clearly explain what you are doing and why. I wish that I had watched your video before using my first mat because I used my whisper white cardstock on a super sticky mat with stamped and Copic colored images. They were toast by the time I scrapped them off. Thank you for another enjoyable video. I love the Christmas paper! Oh and Happy Anniversary!
Yes, I have an awesome Hubby. Sorry for leaving you hanging. Yes, the replaced his lawn mower after selling it. It took a very long time but they had no choice but to do the right thing. It was their fault for selling it. I can relate to using a mat without first conditioning it. It was a hot mess so that is how I know and why I share those tips and tricks.
Can you use Cricut vinyl in the scan n cut? The Cricut vinyl seems to always be on sale, but I think I prefer the scan n cut. Thanks so much for all you do.
Oh yes, vinyl is vinyl and works on any machine. You can see how they label it that way but it doesn't matter how it is labeled, it will work. Chrome Vinyl: amzn.to/36BDveo
I wish I had found you before I bought my Disney model ScanNCut. Your comments clearly explained that it was a wasteful purchase. However, I have been slowly making progress and while my first mat has some pretty deep cuts, I have managed to keep it intact and reasonably sticky considering my first project was with ordinary cardstock. I am hoping to learn to make my own quilting stencils and cut fabric appliques like you cut those sweet little dogs in the stockings from the paper pack. Your lessons are so helpful. Thank you for sharing your talent and knowledge. I am looking forward to your summer videos.
Sally, if you love all of the designs and use them, then you will be making the most of it. Because I can't make and sell the designs made with those cut outs, it wasn't for me. It is still cute and so I hope the machine makes you happy. A Disney ScanNCut is better than NO ScanNCut.
Hello! I recently came across Scan'n'Cut on internet, and became very interested. The video is great, everything is beautifully explained, I'm just wondering if it's possible to use Scan'n'Cut in Europe?
Oh yes Nela, they sell them in Europe and you can find a Brother dealer there and get one. So awesome. Check out Create and Craft TV over there. They have lots of specials on it.
I like my CM better but it is old and there are not as many features. Therefore, I am recommending this one due to its availability. Brother ScanNCut SDX125E: amzn.to/30fojAU
Hi I was wondering what would be the best brother cut and scan to purchase I live in Adelaide South Australia and it would be my first one which one would you highly recommend thanking you
Hi Lisa, this is what I recently purchased in the US. The model # in your country will be different but the features will be pretty much the same. Brother Scan and Cut SDX125E: amzn.to/3igYxVl
Don't feel like a dummy. I still use metal dies all of the time. They are much better at intricate things. There is always a right tool for the job and it is not always the ScanNCut even though I love it so much.
Hi, I just unpacked my so-called ScanNcut SDX 125e BUT the box & my invoice both say that it's the SDXe but the machine itself, like yours in your video, say on SDX 125 without the"e" Why is that? It's Sat so I can't call Brother - bought it through Amazon who said it was a 3rd party seller but that seller looks like it's actually Brother! so if I return it. it will probabyly be the same machine - both the front: SDX 125 & back label: Model # SDX 125. Havd you noticed that? Is it still ok? Will they actually upgrade top the SDX 125e?
The e is the sdx125 with bonus e (electronic) cards, which there are 3. Just an extra add on or promotion they included. I got mine thru Amazon and it's like your said - only Scan n Cut DX on the screen.
Ok I got a scan and cut for Christmas from my daughter. Just now inboxing yes I know it’s August but life happens and just now able to get to try it and can’t find anywhere that you put you pen unless you change out pen and blade. Help please. Thank you.
Welcome to the ScanNCut World. Yes, that is right Rosanna. You can't draw and cut at the same time. You take out your blade holder and replace it with the pen holder. I have lots of courses on the ScanNCut. Here are the introductory videos and links to enroll. thepaperedchef.com/brother-scanncut-courses
Yes, you can. You would have to purchase that separately. Here is a collection for example. You install it online and then you can cut the patterns on any ScanNCut machine. amzn.to/3QGplwe
Haha. My husband insisted that I should have the Disney edition so that’s what I have. I have had a lot of trouble getting extra Disney cards. I have even bought them on Amazon and 2 days later they cancel the sale because the card isn’t available. Very frustrating.
Can you only use the Disney machine to do the Disney characters? The other scan and cuts won’t scan and cut Disney? I have been considering a scan and cut!
@@vanessadegraw702 I believe you can use any Scan n Cut to do Disney images. The Disney machine just comes with built in Disney images. Mine also came with some extra things like a roll feeder and a travel bag. Some come with extra accessories and some don’t. But you can buy any of those things for any machine. I was totally new to a scan n cut, having had a Cricut before, so I didn’t really know which one to get. My husband saw the Disney one and decided I had to have it. I’ve only had it since December and already don’t know how I ever got along without it. I watch every RUclips video Kimberly does, and I use mine to stamp images, scan them, cut them, and then color them. I have even printed images from Google, scanned them, and then cut them.
@@sandyjustian7873 Hi Sandy, I’m trying to decide if I want to buy a ScanNcut or a Cricut Maker. Could you please, if you don’t mind me asking, tell me what you liked and (perhaps) disliked about your Cricut and ScanNcut?
@@mstorck2259 sorry in advance for this long reply. I had a Cricut Expression machine but ProvoCraft limited its abilities once ProvoCraft no longer used Cricut Craft Room for the online program. The Expression was not compatible with the new site so it was obsolete as far as designing projects online. I could only cut images from the cartridges that I owned. Any images that I had purchased in the Craft Room, were lost! That happened just 4 years after I purchased my machine. The company has made the representation that the site they use now will not change and if you buy a Maker, you will be able to download upgrades to keep up with the changing technology. That sounds promising. However, with a Cricut Maker, you can only cut images by using the website. The Maker does not have stored images within the machine. With the Scan N Cut, there are lots of built in images. You can turn your machine on, access the images, size them, weld them to other patterns, choose to cut multiple quantities, etc. Your project displays on the screen on the machine, just like my old Expression machine did! Then you can cut or draw, your onscreen project. You can also print images from the internet or stamp your favorite images, then scan them, tweak the scanned images if needed using only the screen on the machine, and then cut the entire project. It is so simple. For me, the decision as to which machine to get was made once I saw the scanning feature in action. I have made my own diecuts for cards and scrapbooking and have never had to log into the Scan N Cut design space online. I have done it all on my machine. I will say that I found the Cricut to be easier to learn. And I have heard that the current design space for the Cricut is very easy to learn. I was on the struggle bus with the Scan N Cut until I discovered the Papered Chef's numerous tutorials. She explains every step in detail and I honestly don't know what I would have done without her tutorials on RUclips! I would suggest that you watch several of Kim's tutorials on cutting patterned paper and cutting scanned images. The Scan N Cut is amazing.

Shelly, there are so many tips and trick to try. Use a pencil for example. The outline will allow the scanner to pick up an enclosed image. Also try moving your image to another part of the mat.
Shelly, how did it go?? Is it scanning properly? I’m undecided about which machine to buy ( Cricut, silhouette, Brother) I’m new to this whole arena and don’t know which machine to buy. The issue you are having is of great interest to me because I really think I would be scanning images from Internet n cutting. Plz let me know. Thx🙏🏼

I am. Going to get one

I missed the live but I enjoyed the tutorial. Looking forward to more.tfs
Thanks for watching Joyce. You are very welcome. This was a fun unboxing.
I have the SDX1000. The mat only loads one end, but other than that it's great
I have the very first Scan n cut. I am still not sure how to use all the functions. I must watch your first videos.
Thank you soooo much!!!!
Question. How do I scan an image then duplicate the image? Or please let me know which one of your videos explains this process. Thank you 🤗
Save it as "data". However, you are saving the cut lines, not the stamped image.
@@donnas2375 thank you😀
Very helpful tutorial! Thank you so much for posting
Such a lovely colour!!! My 135 is grey but still fabulous!!
I love it Lorna. As long as your ScanNCut works, it is a fabulous Crafting Buddy!
Need suggestion cm350 or sdx125e??
I like my CM better but it is old and there are not as many features. Therefore, I am recommending this one due to its availability. Brother ScanNCut SDX125E: amzn.to/30fojAU
Hi I was wondering what would be the best brother cut and scan to purchase I live in Adelaide South Australia and it would be my first one which one would you highly recommend thanking you
Hi Lisa, this is what I recently purchased in the US. The model # in your country will be different but the features will be pretty much the same. Brother Scan and Cut SDX125E: amzn.to/3igYxVl
why are most scan n cut grey and blue ,, i think they need change the shade s , but you are lucky lady hope you enjoy 😊Happy anniversary 💕
I haven't used my machine for 2 years! Now I see how much money I could have saved, buying the die cuts with matching stamps!! I feel like a dummy!
Don't feel like a dummy. I still use metal dies all of the time. They are much better at intricate things. There is always a right tool for the job and it is not always the ScanNCut even though I love it so much.
Hello from Connecticut
Hi there, I only have one and I love it it’s a 300 I think..
That’s correct. I have the SDX125 and the SDX125e - they are exactly alike on the outside.
@@PaperedChef Thank you so much for your quick response & clarifiaction!
The e is the sdx125 with bonus e (electronic) cards, which there are 3. Just an extra add on or promotion they included. I got mine thru Amazon and it's like your said - only Scan n Cut DX on the screen.
So there is no longer a wireless card/fee - it's now all included?
The SDX125 comes wirelessly activated so you don’t need to purchase the card like you do with the CM350.
Can I make stickers and stationary with this machine like Cricut and Silhouette? I get so discouraged with the alignment issues.
Can I ask if your Udemy courses are suitable for scan n cut SDX900 before I purchase please
Great tutorial ❗ Thank you!!!
Thanks for watching!
Excellent tutorial!!
Thanks Yvonne, I am glad you liked this out of the box tutorial. I hope my camera didn't make you too dizzy.
can you use the disney pattern collects with this brother sdx125e?
Yes, you can. You would have to purchase that separately. Here is a collection for example. You install it online and then you can cut the patterns on any ScanNCut machine.

@@sandyjustian7873 Thank you so much for your awnser and taking time to reply😊 I’ll be sure to check out the Papered chef’s channel, it looks very interesting!
“none of us know what we’re doing.” 🤣
So true! We all “wing it” sometimes. Thanks for watching.
The DX more precise in cutting outlines? My scan n cut 2 needs calibrating all the time because it leaves white in areas around the outline.
Each machine has a personality. My CMs are more precise than my SDX machines so it all depends.
@@PaperedChef really? Mine is terrible now i dont want to upgrade to DX if is worse 😪
@@sergioknuf I said each has a personality. Many love their SDX machines more. One of my 2 SDX machines works better than the other. If you have the features you want, there is no need to upgrade.
@@PaperedChef i need it to cut the outline exactly on the line
@@sergioknuf u may need to recalibrate your nachine. Its very easy. Make sure your not putting a border on it. The 2 circles button adds a margin. Make sure its set to zero and it should cut right on the line
The CM350 has now been discontinued. 😊
It's still out there everywhere and still my favorite.
@@PaperedChef I ordered this first as a resale but my order got cancelled. I am bummed but happy I found a SDX125e for a bit more. The blade is a big upgrade.
So I cannot use the SDX 125 in another country? or I can get a global adaptor?
Team SNC! Fun unboxing video 🥰🥰
Mam which model is the latest cm110 or cm300?
Not sure when they were manufactured. Go to the Brother web site for comparisons of different models. Here is a link. www.brother-usa.com/home/cutting-machines

Thanks Linda. I love my SDX125e too. It is working great despite all of the paces I put it through.

Oops I just checked it a cm350 not 300…
Hi
We don’t need to look at you just the machine.
Yes, for the most part, that is true but I was hoping I was in the camera view as I was talking about the machine itself.
Way too chatty
I scanned a image and the entire thing didn't scan properly, there was some missing lines, I did it again and it came out the same, help please 🙏🏾.
Shelly, there are so many tips and trick to try. Use a pencil for example. The outline will allow the scanner to pick up an enclosed image. Also try moving your image to another part of the mat.
@@PaperedChef thank you so much, I'll try it .
Thx🙏🏼
@@elizmal533 I purchased a scaning mat and still had issues with certain image's, however I tried tracing the image with a pencil then scanned it and it worked perfectly , I would still chose the scan and cut over other machines.
