2:09 Jack Philips was more a villain than hero. He didn't pass on the ice warning to the captain. He was rude to a nearby ship who was broadcasting loudly who promptly switched off and missed their later calls of SOS. He did make amends by continuing to broadcast SOS and going down with the ship out of guilt.

Nice walk, Kevin. 8 miles! No wonder poor Lyn broke down. The best thing about walking a canal towpath is that it's fairly level. Is that canal connected to the network? I noted a few boats on the water, so they must be able to get somewhere.
I have no problem walking 8 miles + Lionel in "normal circumstances", but as you know, my foot was playing up so I couldn't go any further. It was a lovely walk, which we enjoyed enormously
Hi Kevin, I've not joined any of your walks as yet but want to explore the river Wey at Godalming. Where did you park? I've only recently found Dapdune Wharf at Guildford and don't know Godalming at all

Rog picked a good walk unfortunately for me not being a driver I can only watch the videos but seems like in the main went off well
