Thank you for reporting on this and keeping us up to date. I imagine at some point they are going to have to block off a section and have fill up to get all you folks up and moving again, no? I feel so bad for you guys being stuck in the cold and wet.
Keep your chin up 😊 thank you for the updates, I hope you're not stuck there for too long but they seem like a nice helpful bunch around there, lots of love ❤
@@RaraAvis1138 They may need to be lifted out by crane because that canal is going to take years to repair and possibly millions of pounds. However, as Josh pointed out, he can't see how a road could access that section
From a fellow boater to another… remember that once the companion way hatch is shut, your always safe at home ❤ Keep that fire burning to get you through ❤❤
Some heavy equipment is designed for soft ground, usually with very wide tracks, but sometimes with huge, "floatation" tires or even big flat walking feet like metal snow shoes. I don't know to what extent the ground, especially the sediment debris field, is so soft as to require such specialized equipment, but the equipment exists.
My mum came to see you guys today and she sent me the pics. I’m glad she got to meet you guys and I hope that what she gave you helps you and some of the other boaters around you.
It was so very kind of you and as you can see we have given it around to some boaters and will go around tomorrow with the rest. You mum is lovely by the way. Just my kind of woman down to earth just like me. I did ask her if I could sneak in her suit case when she visits in May lol 😂😂
You really should get some recognition for you drone footage Josh. Not just for this breach damage but in general. We are always blown away by how good it is compared to other vloggers we’ve seen ❤️❤️❤️
Totally agree, I believe Josh said it's a mini SE drone and not the full sensor singing and dancing model so excellent piloting amongst the trees! I especially loved the above the fog footage it looked like it was 30000ft up.
Really enjoyed seeing the before and now around the canal breach ! Drone superb as usual and the support and help is heartwarming in these hard times for many. The donation from US to mum was from the heart ❤️
As a child i used to watch the boats being pulled along the canal full of coal and a big horse pull it along they used to throw coal on the banking for my mum used to run along and pick it up in the 40s good old days
Amazing drone footage again Josh and you kindly showed Peel Holdings potential ideas/solutions on where to build a dam too ….you are doing a brilliant job, but make sure you look after yourself too please😊. Diane you have a flood of your own in dealing with and answering everyone’s comments, bless you. Thank you Josh and Taylor family for all you're doing to shine a light on this event. Firstly, we hadn't seen that this had occurred, but secondly had never considered the wider implications of what's happened since or how anyone starts to navigate fixing this. (No pun intended). In finding your recent videos we've started watching your previous videos from the start and love your candid, unfiltered insight into family life, so very refreshing in a world of falseness. I hope you are properly recompensed by RUclips for your successes and that your channel continues to grow.
I think we should consider the possibility that Peel will not repair this, and instead drain the whole canal. They own lots of the land either side of the Bridgewater & Manchester Ship canals, you only have to look at the Fracking/Bio-mass power plant/Trafford Centre/sewage works to see the organisation is only interested in revenue not people. The canal delivers no fiscal value anymore, however all that land would be worth a fortune to developers. Cheshire is sort after commuter belt to Manchester/Chester & Liverpool etc. Drain & sell vs spend on repairs? You can bet the board will vote unanimously.
@entertainideas9215 That canal runs through some areas that flood fairly often even without much extra rainfall, so it would be pretty much impossible to sell for housing or industrial development; at least to anyone reasonable. I can't see Peel managing to get planning permission from anyone to build along most of the Bridgewater anyway, even if they decided to close it completely. Flood risk + subsidence resulting from abandoned coal mines under large areas isn't a good risk.
@ I hope you’re right. Now seems as good a time as any to get planning permission on land otherwise deemed unsuitable, with the current government’s desperation for housing.
These last episodes have brought a tear to my eye with all the goodwill that has been shown to the boaters from the publican and the boating community. Thanks so much for sharing your experience.

Absolutely excellent drone footage Josh, especially when compared to the pictures from last summer when all was peace and normality. A remarkable insight into the damage that's been done. Mark was a true gent to bring those flowers. Just small moments of cheer can make you feel so much better. Bless your American viewer for his generosity. All of this must be making you feel a lot better.
Hi there. Beautiful drone footage. It made things clear. In a fortnight were going to travel three weeks with a hired narrowboat and we planned to do de Bridgewater canal to Manchester. A few days ago the wharf send us an email that there were some massive problems in the Bridgewater canal. After seeing your video's it was all clear to us...... I hope that the pump out is now happened and keep yourself and the cats warm, good luck! Greetings from the Netherlands.
The Macclesfield Canal is now going to be one awfully busy canal for a long time, and to add further problems, the Macclesfield is quite high, and joined to the Peak Forest, they both require a huge amount of water to feed them, and Todd Brook reservoir at whaley Bridge is still out of action. I'm really enjoying your amazing coverage of this awful disaster (well done Josh - brilliant!), especially the excellent drone footage. I was brought up in Sale so know the Bridgewater very well, and I remember the 1971 breach. We live in Wilmslow now (our local canal is the Macc) but are very familiar with Dunham. It's somewhere I often pass through. We have done many, many canal holidays - Staffs and Cheshire rings etc, latest being Wolverhampton circular via Stourbridge, the Severn, and Worcester back up via Brum. I really hope they put in dams ASAP to refill the cut either side of the breach so all you stranded boaters can sail out. Hopefully things will start to look better. The drone footage is amazing and the music selected is almost reverent. Very nicely done. Hang in there. Sending positive thoughts from America.
Ey up me 'ducks.' Tis great to see how so many are still helping. Josh, Diane, you both need to ease up a little and get some much needed rest if just for a day. Stay safe guys. Paul 💚
I am sending best wishes and prayers for all narrow boats! so glad no one was washed away in that breach! Thank you for the updates! Your friend in Savannah Georgia USA
Josh, you are doing a brilliant job keeping everyone up to date with what is going on around you. We love watching your vlogs of you and your family everyday and we'd love to have a narrow boat but our years have overtaken our dreams im afraid. I must say though you do look shattered but I'm sure when things have been put in place you will be able to relax. So till then take care and stay safe. From Susan, David and Simon in County Durham 👍🏻
Hi Taylor family ! Just to say hello from France where I am watching your videos, always funny and interesting ! Hope you keep hope in the future as the people in charge seem to take care of the situation… but my, you look all exhausted, please take time for yourselves, rest and try to lower the stress of the situation…🙏🏾❤
Such generosity from the man in America. It's true that the best if people is shown in a crisis. We used to be liveaboards on our 60ft narrowboat and we have sailed, like you, from London to The Peak Forest Canal and we , too, found such camaraderie and kindness amongst the boating community. Sadly we witnessed and experienced neglect and poor maintenance by The CRT. No dredging, maintenance of canal banks and leaky locks. British Waterways Board did a far better job before David Cameron's privatisation and formation of The CRT. I wish you and all the friends you've made this New Year on The Bridgewater the very best wishes. I actually can't visualise what can be done in the future for you all or for the future of The Bridgewater Canal. We live not far from Dunham Massey. It is a beautiful area and it's heartbreaking to see it in such peril.
I also thought how lucky no one was where the breach happened. Thanks for the updates. I certainly hope Peel Holdings are working towards getting you all out somehow. Take care from New Zealand.
As others say and I've said before. Please keep these updates coming. They are very well done, arguably better in form, and easily better in content, than the regular news. I hope you are able, willing, and allowed to do updates right through the reconstruction. Even better, once reconstruction starts, would be a couple live cameras by someone.
🤗 It was a joy to see you ⭐️Mark bring flowers for Diane as I too gave her a bunch in the last vlog on comment ...... 🙏 for all concerned health n safety 💌🦘
Recently became a subscriber your commitment to the coverage is incredibly well done You create content that actually grabs your attention Keep the videos coming There's also a soothing effect from the voiceovers that keeps viewers engrossed in the footage Very well done!
We've been going back and watching your old videos too, and enjoying them very much. We hope you get some of your more immediate needs met quickly, and that a plan comes together soon so that you can be afloat once again.
I'm a new subscriber, and just want to say: Thank you, and very well done, for these vlog updates about the disastrous breach on the Bridgewater Canal. The time and effort that you're putting into these vlogs is commendable. I hope and pray that Peel Holdings begin to communicate with you, and ALL the other stranded boaters, and put forward a good plan of action. How kind of the American gentleman to donate to everyone through your channel. All I can say now is keep safe, warm and well. I'm off to explore all your previous vlogs from the very first one ❤😊xx
@ 10.45min opposite where you, Josh, the orange coat was standing, there is a road and spur along the canal, and a car park/hard standing approx 20 feet from the canal, so a new coffer dam would be easy from that site. Knock down 1 wooden fence, and you have vehicular access to the towpath. Go through the tunnel on the right, and there is a farmers track running left alongside the canal, rising to the level of the towpath, possibly mention this to the engineers. Hope this frees some who may be trapped by Agden stop planks.
Josh and crew -- thank you for the updates, and it is great that the locals have rallied around you all. And you are right that it is a blessing that no boats were pulled into the canal breach, it definitely would have been terrible. But yes, looking at the size and damage of the breach, it's going to take years and a lot of money to put it back into commission. Hopefully they can get the coffer dams in on either side of the breach as soon as possible, and refill the sections with boats and you all can move on. I have seen similar river blocking here in the US and often large sandbags/concrete blocks/structures are lowered by helicopter -- maybe that is a possibility there? Keep warm!!!
Hi guys, I'm sorry that your bad luck hit again with the canal but thrilled at what it's done for your channel. I tried to sub before a while ago but found i was struggling to hear and thus fully understand Josh's voice clearly, mum's voice is loud and clear but Josh has a similar voice to me(I've been told many times I mumble and speak quietly). I know you were struggling to push over 10,000 subs before the collapse and really want you to hold onto the people that have subbed since the breach. I don't know how aware you are of the above small issue but as said i really want you to continue succeeding with the channel going forward and although i generally stay away from commenting anything negative, because have a similar voice i found couldn't not mention it. Thanks for all your hard work guys.
@@norm4242 I don't think it's the mic as mum's voice is always loud and clear, as said like me Josh is just a softly spoken person. Visuals are hugely important on RUclips of course but people in reality will put up with absolutely rubbish quality visuals if the audio is great.
One of my sons had a slightly deep but quiet voice and talks in his beard, so I struggle to hear him. Josh does have a quiet voice. I don't think his mother is loud. Feel Diane knows how to project her voice properly. They look to be a lovely family. Am worried about their 70' boat.
Turn up the volume or as my husband does put the subtitles on. I think he has a lovely voice. So many people shout, scream or squawk that it’s a pleasant change to have a calming voice. Maybe an outside mic would help but otherwise he has a clear but soft voice.
Just goes to show these canals were never intended/expected/designed to support fast flowing water. The depth and distance the water has gouged out of the canal structure is insane. From Australia and spent a fantastic few days on the Llangollen canal on a hire boat and absolutely loved it. It gave us a very small taste of the lifestyle. A relaxing and great start to our UK trip. Our hearts go out to you guys and your current predicament.
Just looked back at some of our Bridgewater videos. You are so trigjt it could have been a lot worse 😲 We always moored in that area & so did lots of other boats. Thanks for the update
Somebody asked how deep the canal usually is.I was born and grew up in Dunham Massey and we had a pony fall in the canal in the sixties not far from the breach .he was able to stand in the side of the canal with the water only half way up his sides so l suppose it has never been very deep at the side.I now live in Nottingham and I am following your posts every day.Thankyou for your excellent coverage.
Another great vlog guys, take a day off if you need to, just keep us updated when you get more info. I've never boated, but do walk on canals, having watched some of your other vids I'm really interested now! Hope the next few days is kind to you and we look forward to the next update 👍🙂

A huge thank you for the sad but beautiful drone footage and updates. I work in a care home and we have a resident who used to live on the Shropshire Union Canal. His old boat is still moored up there and he always joins us for our canal boat trips with Wirral Community Narrow boat Trust on the Shropshire Union Canal. 3 a year when we can. Any way he's been watching your up dates on my phone, he is glad that by some miracle no one was hurt, and sympathetic to all you are going through at the moment. We both wish you and the others luck and hope that you have some good news soon about being able to move location xxx
@TaylorsAboardaNarrowboat will do. Going to show him this video tomorrow. I'm playing catch up on my videos at mo lol. Hope you and the others are all well and managing to keep your spirits up.
Imagine being moored up there when this happened, doesn't bear thinking about! I crossed this section back in the summer but didn't stop as I didn't have a bridgewater license. I am actually going to avoid spending any time on narrow embankments as a rule from now on when I recognise them.

This channel is attracting kindness and help for all the boaters . The wealth is being spread , nobody will be overlooked ❤
Yes they are getting well looked after and Joe opposite is getting things given to him all the time.
So wonderful to have your updates! Thank you so much.
Ey up me 'ducks.'
Tis great to see how so many are still helping. Josh, Diane, you both need to ease up a little and get some much needed rest if just for a day.
Stay safe guys.
Paul 💚
Thanks Paul. We are getting a bit exhausted but want to still let everyone know whats going on. Sending hugs to you and keep warm😊
Oh my love, you take your time with the comments. I think we can all see that you have some higher priorities right now. ❤
On our channel I am the one that answers the comments but it's only usually 15 or 20 comments not hundreds lol 😂
I understand why people want to come and meet you guys, you seem very genuine and down to earth 😊
What a lovely thing to say thanks😊
Thank you Josh and family your updates are invaluable. Good luck with your clean up. Stay safe❤
I am sending best wishes and prayers for all narrow boats! so glad no one was washed away in that breach! Thank you for the updates! Your friend in Savannah Georgia USA
Thanks😊
Josh, you are doing a brilliant job keeping everyone up to date with what is going on around you. We love watching your vlogs of you and your family everyday and we'd love to have a narrow boat but our years have overtaken our dreams im afraid.
I must say though you do look shattered but I'm sure when things have been put in place you will be able to relax. So till then take care and stay safe.
From Susan, David and Simon in County Durham 👍🏻
Hopefully it won't be long and Josh can relax and we will be off and cruising which we love
Some really excellent drone footage, highlighting the scale of the disaster...👍🏻
Once this is all over we will have plenty of time to relax and cruise ❤
It is a beautiful area and we do hope that they repair the breach as it would be very sad if they closed this very old canal
Good morning Diane, those flowers are lovely. Happy colours 😃
And they smell beautiful 😊
In Germany, yellow flowers signify friendship. You cannot go wrong with yellow flowers. Such a heartwarming gesture!
Love your videos dude keep up the good work man
I also thought how lucky no one was where the breach happened. Thanks for the updates. I certainly hope Peel Holdings are working towards getting you all out somehow. Take care from New Zealand.
It's funny as if we didn't have to get water we might have moored there as its a beautiful spot with good solar
Look forward to your daily updates! Great vlogs! Awaiting a snow storm this weekend in East Tennessee!
East Tennessee in USA
What a wonderful community you are. Thank you for your excellent and very professional productions. Best of luck from ☘️
As others say and I've said before. Please keep these updates coming. They are very well done, arguably better in form, and easily better in content, than the regular news.
I hope you are able, willing, and allowed to do updates right through the reconstruction. Even better, once reconstruction starts, would be a couple live cameras by someone.
Aren't people lovely and as dreadful as that is, weirdly the snow makes it look stunningly beautiful! More amazing drone footage. Stay warm.
The snow is beautiful but very cold here which makes it alot harder for the guys here to try and sort things
@TaylorsAboardaNarrowboat I bet! I hope it melts quickly for you. Take care.
Thanks
Thanks Keith
🤗 It was a joy to see you ⭐️Mark bring flowers for Diane as I too gave her a bunch in the last vlog on comment ...... 🙏 for all concerned health n safety 💌🦘
Mark did a lovely job and the flowers were lovely they snelt amazing
💞@@TaylorsAboardaNarrowboat
I always look forward to seeing a notification from you
Fantastic drone footage.
That gang plank is a lot safer now the weather is so cold, looks really good.
People are being so kind. 💗
Keep warm guys. 😄
People are being amazing and I feel so much better going over the planks now after Marks efforts
Recently became a subscriber your commitment to the coverage is incredibly well done
You create content that actually grabs your attention
Keep the videos coming
There's also a soothing effect from the voiceovers that keeps viewers engrossed in the footage
Very well done!
What an amazing comment thanks
We've been going back and watching your old videos too, and enjoying them very much. We hope you get some of your more immediate needs met quickly, and that a plan comes together soon so that you can be afloat once again.
There is an update tonight so keep watching 👀
I'm a new subscriber, and just want to say: Thank you, and very well done, for these vlog updates about the disastrous breach on the Bridgewater Canal. The time and effort that you're putting into these vlogs is commendable. I hope and pray that Peel Holdings begin to communicate with you, and ALL the other stranded boaters, and put forward a good plan of action. How kind of the American gentleman to donate to everyone through your channel. All I can say now is keep safe, warm and well. I'm off to explore all your previous vlogs from the very first one ❤😊xx
Peel holdings have been around and there will be an update tonight
Fantastic footage Josh. Stay safe and keep the updates going. Jan (Making New Memories) ❤
Thanks Jan
@ 10.45min opposite where you, Josh, the orange coat was standing, there is a road and spur along the canal, and a car park/hard standing approx 20 feet from the canal, so a new coffer dam would be easy from that site. Knock down 1 wooden fence, and you have vehicular access to the towpath. Go through the tunnel on the right, and there is a farmers track running left alongside the canal, rising to the level of the towpath, possibly mention this to the engineers. Hope this frees some who may be trapped by Agden stop planks.
They intend to build a cofferdam and finally refloat us
Josh and crew -- thank you for the updates, and it is great that the locals have rallied around you all.
I did mention in another comment they need an improved microphone for external shots, you're not alone i struggled with the audio also.
@@norm4242 I don't think it's the mic as mum's voice is always loud and clear, as said like me Josh is just a softly spoken person. Visuals are hugely important on RUclips of course but people in reality will put up with absolutely rubbish quality visuals if the audio is great.
@DaveAppleton when he does a voice over I have no trouble hearing him, a directional microphone outside would make a big difference I think.
Great drone footage thanks Josh!
Great job Josh x
Just goes to show these canals were never intended/expected/designed to support fast flowing water. The depth and distance the water has gouged out of the canal structure is insane. From Australia and spent a fantastic few days on the Llangollen canal on a hire boat and absolutely loved it. It gave us a very small taste of the lifestyle. A relaxing and great start to our UK trip. Our hearts go out to you guys and your current predicament.
Another great update. Thank you. Stay safe and warm.
It’s so nice to see the community rally around all of you!
ive been binge watching your channel amd mow convimced your the nicest of the you tubers on the uk waterways you deserve all the help
Thank you for a fantastic video. Such positive uplifting people you are.❤
Just looked back at some of our Bridgewater videos. You are so trigjt it could have been a lot worse 😲 We always moored in that area & so did lots of other boats. Thanks for the update
The original Worsley to Manchester canal was 1761. The stretch from Manchester to Runcorn that you're on was opened in 1776
Great update. 🙏
Canals are normally about 2ft 6 inch to 3 feet deep .
The canal seems to be deeper in the middle than most canals. They are usually about 3 feet deep
Another great vlog guys, take a day off if you need to, just keep us updated when you get more info.
I've never boated, but do walk on canals, having watched some of your other vids I'm really interested now!
Hope the next few days is kind to you and we look forward to the next update 👍🙂
There is an update tonight 😊
That's so lovely that everyone got a boost from the donation from the American chap.
Guys... Take a day or 2 off! Don't be scared to post a normal vlog were all here for you now, its ur personalities that were here for not just the updates. I dont have money but I'm sending you all my best wishes ❤
Josh is putting one of our normal vlogs out tomorrow but he still wants to keep people updated on the progress
@TaylorsAboardaNarrowboat That I can understand its a huge part of your lives right now, just try keep a good work rest routine 😴 ... and never feel like you have to respond to all msgs, burnout can come hard & fast all of ur health & wellbeing is priority X
Oh wow please say hello to him. We love the Shropshire Union canal😊
@TaylorsAboardaNarrowboat will do. Going to show him this video tomorrow. I'm playing catch up on my videos at mo lol. Hope you and the others are all well and managing to keep your spirits up.
I look forward to your daily uploads its amazing how much bigger its got since it first happened
Imagine being moored up there when this happened, doesn't bear thinking about! I crossed this section back in the summer but didn't stop as I didn't have a bridgewater license. I am actually going to avoid spending any time on narrow embankments as a rule from now on when I recognise them.
We were only attending to stay a week and move onto the trent and mersey hopefully it won't be long
That's incredible this canal was being used before the United States even became a country...
One of the oldest in the UK it was built in 1760
O Josh's mum you are such a lovely lady
Thanks Josh for all your hard work doing the vlogs in such an unusual situation
Great to hear. Dad is a chef too
Stay warm and please take care 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Thanks for the kind comment
Great video today Josh and the footage you showed of where the people was mooring in the summer months wow I’m surprised I haven’t seen more on the tv about this, keep up your good spirits ❤
Great video with the drone, really shows the breach in full, well done Josh, I say you was saying bout the field, I actually wondered if the army could actually put one of their roll out roads across that field, surely that would be a big help. Stay warm and safe Gary n Irene
Big update tonight so keep watching 👀
Thanks
Thank you for the donation
Thanks so much for sharing and hard work!
Great camera an comment 👍
Thanks best coverage of the event...... Thanks for living there an reporting 🥇🇬🇧🌟👍⚖️
I’ve been watching for a few days and it’s lovely to see how down to earth and upbeat you guys are being about your awful situation. I am from Runcorn and it’s scary to see such a big impact problem happen so close to home. Take care guys and look after the beautiful fur babies too xx❤
Thank you we will look after the cats. They are not happy as they can't go out at the moment too close to the road
Good to see you making the best of a terrible situation. True British grit. ❤️
Men with picks and shovels built the original canal network...maybe it will come back to that one day? Keep your spirits up guys you have captivated the nation.
Good luck on BBC. You got this. ❤
Hi Josh ....we left you some goodies in a tin earlier ...hope you found them
Wow what a shock to see the canal like this
Stay warm everyone 🌞🌞
Whereabouts as we haven't found them. But hopefully we will and thank you so much
Found them now and the cakes are delicious. Josh and I have had one already yummy 😋

Brilliant reporting 👍
Amazing drone footage.
Amazing drone footage.
Glad to see that kind man from Pineapple Landscapes doing a bridge for your mum 😊
And he bought me flowers. He is such a lovely guy
Have to admit I was noodling around on Google Earth earlier trying to locate the breach and your boat, well at least its location, I hope I'm not that creepy. You are doing an excellent job, and I hope it all works out well for your family in the long run.
