Kevin's Rambles
Великобритания
Добавлен 3 дек 2018
Hello and welcome to my channel. My name is Kevin and I plan to use this space to share with you my love of walking, nature and photography. Over recent months I have discovered a new hobby. I really enjoy making short informal videos of the places I visit, whether it is to show a stunning view, tell the story of a local legend or capture moments from rural events. I am just an amateur film maker with fairly basic equipment, but I have plenty of enthusiasm and a real love of our beautiful country and heritage. I hope you enjoy my little films as much as I love making them
Part 1 of our Alresford walk with Martin Colman.

A Georgian town of colour-washed houses, riverside walks and specialist shops. Alresford is the hub of the UK watercress industry.
Make a full day out with a ride on The Watercress Line and a walk around the picturesque Georgian town, with its delightful tea rooms and independent shops.
The town’s history is punctuated with fires, despite the abundance of water in the area, and the buildings that you see today rose from the ashes of the great fires of the 17th century.
Alresford is the perfect place for strolling and there is plenty to please the eye including St John’s parish church and Old Alresford Pond created by Bishop de Lucy in the 1...

How exciting Kevin. This opens up so much scope for you & will be very enjoyable to watch on your lovely Video's. Merry Christmas & Happy New Year 2025! 🎄 xxx
@traceymurphy3469 Thank you, Tracey 😊. Yes, I am very much looking forward to when I have gotten a bit used to it, then I will use it for my videos. Merry Christmas and a happy new year.xx
What a great birthday present - I hope you have hours of fun using it 😃
@bobpape Thank you, Bob 😊. I really hope so 😊
All the gear now! Look forward to seeing the footage of the maiden flight. I am sure it will be a great addition to Kevin's Rambles.
@jeanblemings5352 Thank you, Jean 😊. Maiden flight tomorrow morning, hopefully weather permitting. Cynthia and I are going to walk from her place to a wildflower meadow on top of Marley.
@KevinsRambles sounds beautiful!
Ey up me duck. I was looking at getting this, I love the follow me features and price. I've ended up putting a deposit on a second-hand Mavic 2 mini at a shop on layaway so will have that to play with once paid off. I might still get this at a later date though for said follow me features. Looking forward to your review me owd 🙂👍
@Adventures_with_Sog Thank you, Paul 😊 . The following me features are exactly what I want it for. Maiden flight tomorrow weather permitting. I have the Mavic mini 2. Make sure you keep it updated, I keep forgetting, and I take it out to fly it, and it says update firmware, without WiFi, etc, you whilst you are out. Take care, my friend. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
@KevinsRambles And a very merry and blessed Christmas to you and yours too my friend 🎉🙂
Exciting Kevin, I saw a video with the neo the other day at beachy head, it was very windy, as you said not a good idea to fly in windy weather. It did seem a bit noisier than the other DJI drone videos I have watched, I am sure it will make a great addition to your videos, especially the churches 😊 Wishing you a very happy Christmas and thank you for all your videos and talks this year.
@johnf4883 Thank you, John 😊. It is noisier than previous models, so I understand. I am hoping to do my first test flight tomorrow, weather permitting. Thank you, John, for all your comments through the year and for your continued support. It really is appreciated. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Look forward to seeing your footage mate. By the way. No battery compartment. The battery clips to the bottom. But I guess you have figured that out. Thanks for the shoutout. Have great Xmas my friend. We will see you in the new year one way or another. 👍🏻🚶🏻♂️🚶♀️
@WanderingwithWatto Thank you, Paul 😊. Yes, I found out about the battery 😊. You are welcome, my friend. I wish you and Kim a very merry Christmas 🎅. See you in 2025.
Yippee! 👍😃
@daveevad Thanks, Dave 😊
I hear New Jersey is a popular place to fly them. They seem to be breeding.
@SteveInTokyo-b8n Thank you, Steven 😊. Breeding, they might be my friend. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Thanks for your comments and support.
@@KevinsRambles Merry Christmas to you too. Look after yourself and hoping one day we can go for a pint in 'the old country'.
Looks like a useful bit of kit Kevin 😊
@michaelwhite8031 Thank you, Michael 😊. I hope it will add something different to my videos. Merry Christmas 🎅 and a Happy New Year, my friend.
Wow a lot of reading good luckwith your first flight ❤😅
@fionahammond9396 Thank you, Fiona 😊. The first flight will be Monday, hopefully.
A nice frosty day to capture it. I live in Hammer and cycle around these woods and commons and feel lucky to have it so close.
@petenicholson9268 Thank you, Peter 😊. I very much appreciate your comment. Generally, in this part of the country, we are very blessed to have these areas to walk/ride. Take care.
These are such special places aren’t they? We’ve been to a fair few in France over the past years. Always goosebump moments seeing the ages. Quite a tribute Kevin. I know I’m way behind but gosh many people’s videos are just getting longer and longer. Time is so precious and not always in abundance to watch everyone’s videos straight away. Hope your week is going well. 🎄🇳🇱🧑🎄🥝
@IamaDutch-Kiwi Thank you, Anita 😊. Yes, it is very special, I always look out for commonwealth war graves when we are church yards. We have seen very special commonwealth war graves. Both are in videos. One is at Bramshot church, and the other slips my memory. The second has all the war graves facing out to sea. I am trying to keep mine 15 minutes or shorter. Yes, it went well, thanks. I hope you have a lovely weekend. 🇬🇧
Kevin, Cynthia and Steve thank you for a most interesting guided tour of Petworth 😃
It always amazes me what you can discover whilst on a walk through the woods 😃 That Colin was most elusive 😂
Nice to see the woodland being managed and not destroyed. Nice place, interesting walk.
What a brilliant walk ,lots of interesting bits it would be good to find the woods man .
@ianmccaughan7121 Thank you, Ian 😊. It was lovely being back out in a chestnut woods.
Lovely walk Kevin and Cynthia, such pretty autumn colours 🥰
What a wonderful woodland walk! I really enjoyed watching it. Loved the votive yew tree and the pond ponderings. At least the hills warmed you up!
@jeanblemings5352 Thank you, Jean 😊. We need to do more of these walks in 2025 they are so enjoyable.
Shame you didn’t find Colin ! Still , a great video anyway…
@IanFord-un6jr Thank you, Ian 😊 It was so frustrating that we couldn't find him lol.
That is so beautiful. I love seeing swans.
@hikingoutdoorfamily They are protected by the crown, I believe. Such majestic birds.
I do love the smell of freshly cut Sweet Chestnut!
@kezzaba1 Thank you, Kerry 😊. And the smell of the wood burning 🔥 Reminds me of when I was a boy in the woods with my Dad.
Ey up me ducks. I love walks through woodland like this, lovely. 🙂
@Adventures_with_Sog Thank you, Paul 😊. We do as well and intend to do more in 2025.
Hi Kevin and Cynthia what a great walk how I loved walking through the leaves on the ground love the sound that it makes , brilliant video Kevin keep it up xx❤
@fionahammond9396 Than you Fiona 😊. We really enjoyed the walk. We did hope it would snow more to make it more special. Walking through leaves reminds us of when we were youngsters 😊. You are very kind. Xx❤️
Great video, glad you enjoyed the church.
@@stmaryspetworth Thank you so much 😊. I really appreciate your comment.
@stmaryspetworth Hi, could you please share my video with any social media you use. Thank you 😊
Hi Kevin. Really enjoyed this with my morning coffee before work. What a fabulous church. The ceiling is awesome. Love the altar area and the windows are indeed beautiful. Say hi to Cynthia and Steve catch up soon. 👍🏻🚶🏻♂️🚶♀️
@WanderingwithWatto Thank you, Paul 😊. Really appreciate your comment. The ceiling is quite incredible, isn't it. When you go into these churches, you never know what you will see. We are so lucky to have such history.
Nah then, ey up me duck. Another beautiful old church and once again so nice to see its lovely interior. Those graves near the start of your video were interesting, never seen that before. Cheers fella, have a blessed week me owd. 🤔
@Adventures_with_Sog ey up Paul 😊. We are so lucky to have these wonderful churches to go and visit. I think those graves tops are to put off grave robbers. Take care, my friend.
I have had several picnic lunches in that churchyard whilst on walks around Petworth! The church is very grand and my favourite things in there are the ceiling and the statue of Lord Egremont looking rather pensive and possibly a bit grumpy! I visited often whilst staying in Petworth too so a nice trip down memory lane!
Thank you, Jean 😊. It is a very grand church. The earl is looking grumpy. You are right. And the ceiling is really amazing.
Enjoyed that Kevin, thank you 👍
Thank you John 🙂 Much appreciated
IHS is a Christogram. Iesus Hominum Salvator, meaning Jesus The Savior .
@michaelwhite8031 Thank you, Michael 😊. Very much appreciated.
Fascinating place, very special.
@michaelwhite8031 Thank you, Michael 😊.
It looks more like a Manor House than a church. Why don't you do a live with Steve and Cynthia talking about your day's out ? I am sure you have some very interesting little stories 😊😊😊
@michaelwhite8031 Thank you, Michael 😊. It's an amazing place, isn't it. That is a really good idea about the live, I'm not quite sure how it would work with all three on the live? I would have to look into that.
Happy birthday 🎈🎈❤❤
@lifesahobby Hey Owen 👋. Thank you, my friend
Lovely video. The 8 arch bridge you referred to is still known as the Tramway Bridge, nowadays a pedestrian and cycle route. For much of the 19th century this was where the horse drawn Stratford Tramway brought freight up form Moreton-in-Marsh to the canal basin, and a branch to Shipton-on-Stour. It closed in 1900, when the Shipton branch was converted to a stream branch line from Moreton, with the section to Stratford abandoned, and dismantled in 1918. Good to see this lovely bit of architecture preserved.
@stationmasterschoice-walku1307 Thank you, Bernie
What a lovely day out 🥰
@LynnB_Ky Thank you, Lynn 😊. It really was a lovely day.
It's a wonderful place to visit despite being a tourist trap.The boat trip looks good.
@marieascot Thank you Marie 😊. Beautiful place.
Hi Kevin and Sue great video enjoyed your walk around ❤x
@fionahammond9396 Thank you, Fiona 😊 ❤️ x
Thank you for this Kevin and Sue. I really enjoyed this and your Video was very enjoyable to watch!! 😊 😊
@traceymurphy3469 Thank you, Tracey 😊.
I've always wanted to visit Stratford-upon-Avon, so thanks Kevin and Sue for such a lovely walkabout 👍
@annajones_007 Thank you, Anna 😊. You should go if you can.
What a charming town. I love that there are still clues to the past that are evident, if you have the eyes to look and Steve to do the research. Lovely video.
Hi Kevin Cynthia and Steve enjoyed your walk very interesting especially with all Steve's information made it even more interesting thanks Steve. Some very old and pretty building's in Petworth look forward to the next video on Petworth ❤
@fionahammond9396 Thank you, Fiona 😊. Petworth is steeped in history, Fiona. we only scratched the surface, really. We had been planning a visit there for a long time, we do intend to go back x❤️
Enjoyed this informative video very much. Wouldn’t it be great to go back in time when there were hardly any cars on the road ?
@IanFord-un6jr Thank you, Ian 😊. Really appreciate your comment. The cars are a pain in the rear end when you are trying to make a video or take photos.
Interesting village, very picturesque 😊
@michaelwhite8031 Thank you, Michael 😊
What a beautiful town, Kevin. Loved the stonework in the walls and the cobbled streets. That street which was once an open sewer, I assume now carries rain water down that central gulley. You had some wonderful weather for your ramble this time. I know of Petworth, but I've never visited. Thanks for showing us around.
@lionelmarytravels6003 Thank you, Lionel and Mary. Petworth is a lovely place to walk around. Yes, the gulley does carry the rain water now. We were very lucky with the weather.
Reminds me of my stay in Petworth but all looks very different on your video!
@jeanblemings5352 Thank you, Jean 😊. Places always look different on video.
Interesting. I haven't walked those streets since I was a child. We used to go for afternoon tea on a Sunday afternoon with my folks. Great video Kevin Cynthia and Steve; so much history 🥰
@LynnB_Ky Thank you, Lynn 😊. As I have said to Claire, you should go back and have a really good look round.
I need to return to Petworth village. Looks very interesting. My parents used to take us there as children frequently.
@claire76leach Thank you, Claire 😊. You should go and have a good look round.
I remember seeing the grave of a Canadian service man 15 year old volunteer among these fallen soldiers.
@mickgof Thank you, Mick 😊 Much appreciated. I must go back and look for that.
Thanks Kevin for sharing this lovely church with us. That mosaic behind the altar was gorgeous and the windows were beautiful 😊
@kezzaba1 Thank you, Kerry 😊. It was a really lovely church, and a spur of the moment visit.
For me his name is synonymous with the Dam Busters, and for those who like 'light' music he is there among the best.
@andrewnorris2 Thank you, Andrew 😊. Yes, the Dam Busters is the one that sticks in my mind.
