    Good trip report, thank you. My friend and I did the Achenbach several years ago as a day hike and it was a tough day but we made it. The trail was not well marked then either. We did it in the opposite direction. We were going to do it again as a two day trip this fall but it had been raining a lot and the river was too high to cross. Not to mention the muddy conditions. Maybe next year I will try it again.

      That would be a rough day hike! Good luck on trying it again, hope it works out.

    Great video! I love TRNP!!! I go visit several times a year...I enjoy both units but the south is my favorite because of the wild horses... I watch the bands for several days at a time photographing them and of course hiking the trails out there too...happy hiking!!!

    Another great video. Beautiful scenery. Like how you let us enjoy the views without listening to constant chatter like most RUclipsrs do. Speak when there is something to say. Show us beautiful views. Teaching is good. Keep it up.

    This is great! Driving over today to hike the area for the first time. Been there many times, but never hiked, so chose a ranger led hike for a newbie. The bison are quite intimidating.

    Best kept NP secret in the country. I go every year to both the south unit and the north unit for the solitude (other parks to busy). Will be heading to north unit in a couple of days to photograph eagles and new born bison calfs.

    Just starting out hiking and backpacking. I'm starting slow with various MN state parks trails

    • @BackpackerBrothers
      @BackpackerBrothers  6 лет назад

      Awesome. As MN natives ourselves, we know there are lots of great state parks here, especially once you venture north. Which parks are you going to first?

      Backpacker Brothers I'm up by the Canadian border. Hayes lake and zippel bay are my closest parks. Obviously itasca is a favorite as well. This summer I'd like to hit up the North Shore parks.

      Very cool. We haven’t visited either of those two, but definitely all the north shore parks are great. Anything along the Superior Hiking Trail!

    I'm glad you had a good time, even with your "detours " ;)
    I live by the north unit of the park. I didn't grow up here but after 15 years here I would never live anywhere else ❤
    Btw, we have really good search and rescue teams. You would have been rescued....eventually ;)

    Been enjoying your camping videos. I was wondering if you could share some of your thoughts on why you guys prefer hammock camping?

    • @BackpackerBrothers
      @BackpackerBrothers  6 лет назад

      Thanks, and good question. In some ways, it’s more comfy than being on the ground (which is rarely smooth,) provided you can sleep on your back. It’s also usually easier to find a couple suitable trees than a flat tent spot. Some would say it’s more ultralight, but with some great solo tents out there, that’s debatable. Overall, it really comes down to personal preference! Do you have one?

    • @tannerspicer6663
      @tannerspicer6663 6 лет назад +1

      Backpacker Brothers I already have my own hammock that I take around with me, but, for when I start hiking longer trips, I'm just starting to jump into the rabbit hole of hiking gear and setups.

    Just watched through most 4/5 of your trips. Solid videos overall, great scenery, but try using a wind screen

    • @Wanderlust598
      @Wanderlust598 4 года назад +1

      The wind is a part of the experience. I like it without the wind screen. Windy like the park often is.

    Just did 15.5 miles in the south unit in one day. Plus is was 90°. That was rough lol. Probaby would have helped if i brought more than one liter of water too.

    • @BackpackerBrothers
      @BackpackerBrothers  6 лет назад +1

      Nice, how was the terrain in the South Unit? Were the trails pretty minimal/untraveled? And yeah, 1L is not a lot for that kind of mileage and weather!

    • @trevort5380
      @trevort5380 6 лет назад +1

      There was some pretty steep and difficult climbs to the top of the badlands. But once you're at the top it is mostly flat prairie. Paths were mosty untraveled. Started at the peaceful valley ranch and hiked to the petrified forest and came back on the maa daah hey trail. Took about 9 hours. Definitely recommend it!

    • @BackpackerBrothers
      @BackpackerBrothers  6 лет назад +1

      Very cool. Will have to try the South Unit if we find ourselves out there again!
