    If your going to the Duluth area… take a drive up the north shore and visit gooseberry falls split Rock light house and if you want a 7 mile hike.. you can go to Eagle mountain the highest point in Minnesota.. and you can see in the distance Lake Superior ( lowest point in Minnesota)

      I take an annual trip in July/august to the North Shore. Best place to be when it’s 90 degrees with high humidity at home in WI…Have bug spray and bug head nets along in case the mosquitoes and biting flies are bad. Sometimes they are so bad they’ll eat you alive!

      @@AdventuresofAplusK for north dakota, it was medora. had long conversations with the locals since it wasn't tourists season yet and told me many dramas in town, like the fire fighters doing a control burn and accidently burning 2 out of 3 of the cypress trees in town. apparently the whole town went in a uproar over it. lol but over all favorite is hard to pin down. loved the big 5 in utah and the black hills and badlands of SD, and idaho was just overall amazing with sand dunes, ice caves and beautiful gorge in twin falls and snow. death valley i made friends in and loved the ruins in new mexico. i guess south dakota as a whole was my favorite. i am already planning a trip to iceland now for next year, i have travel fever now!

    Aaaah the prarie dogs - sooooo cute! You did so well with the footage (again) of the bison rolling in the dirt, I remember similar footage from you time in South Dakota last summer and thought you guys were so lucky, but you've captured it again! ❤️
    I agree about the landscape transformation between Montana and here, but for me, I'll never forget crossing from Colorado to Utah for the first time on a tour (so wasn't expecting it) and it changes so quickly! I always thought the DAR was something the Gilmore Girls made up... upon hearing the Maltese Cross Cabin was taken over by them in 1959.
    The earth lodge was fantastic, I remember learning on my visit to Kenya that the women are also the ones responsible for building the houses... if memory serves me correctly, only pregnant and frail women were excused. It's fascinating to compare different times and/or cultures and see how different things can be - certainly in the UK, the building trade is sadly seen as a 'mans' job... something which as the Careers lead in my school, I'm always trying to quash!
    That Super Mario montage may well be my most favourite thing I've watched of you guys to date. I LOVED how it all came together, but if anyone saw you both doing that, I bet they'd have thought you were nuts!!! I also grew up with a Nes at first, then a N64 and adored playing the Mario games... that may have played into why I loved that scene so much! ❤️
    The knoephla soup definitely looks like something you'd get from a German beer hall.

    • @AdventuresofAplusK
      @AdventuresofAplusK  3 года назад

      We got so lucky to catch that bison when we did! The contrast with southern Utah to Colorado is pretty insane too! Hahaha love Gilmore girls, I totally remember them mentioning that on the show now!
      Isn’t it so amazing to hear about women kicking butt?! Especially many years ago when women hardly had any rights!
      So glad you loved the Mario scene! Thank the lord no one was around to witness that! 😂😂

For those of us who love the outdoors, traveling, exploring, public lands, etc.... we really have TR to thank. Knife River looked really cool, never heard of it! The Lewis& Clark expedition is one of the most fascinating parts of our country for me; read a couple really good books about it recently. Adam must really love Kathryn to share a scotcharoo!!! Wow, great video guys, we were just in ND two weeks ago! We grew up in ND and also had issues with the whole "sacagawea" vs "sakakawea" pronunciation when we lived on the East Coast. The best answer we have heard is that sacagawea came from Meriwether Lewis's journals from the expedition (he spelled her name four different ways) and this spelling is what was taught in most schools but the Hidatsa and Mandan Native Americans actually pronounce it sakakawea which is why there is Lake Sakakawea in ND as this is a more accurate translation of her name from the original native language. - Jenny and Lance

    Fascinating to see as my experience in North Dakota was just a drive across I-94 trying to cross the country from west to east during a move. Didn't have time to stop at all other than gassing up the car. From what I saw it appears pretty but yeah... don't know much about it apart from some old photos and stories of winters when my parents lived there a short time.

We took a drive up to Theodore Roosevelt NP Thursday, but had a run in with a deer on the way back to Deadwood. So, now we're finishing our trip with a rental car.

    Haha! Awesome name for that coffee shop. Maybe there is a clan of North Dakota Youngbloods that I was never told about.
    Great video of your travels across ND. This state always seems to get downplayed but nice work showing that it has great things to offer. Enjoyed your selection of activities and great work on pulling this edit together.
    We did a Dakotas Vacation in 2017 but primarily focused on TRNP when in North Dakota. We all enjoyed the park greatly and thought it was really underrated. Spent two full days there, one for the North Unit and one for the South Unit. It was insanely hot though, so we couldn’t hike much. However, this trip had one of my favorite campsites ever. It was a walk-in site and was right of the banks of the Little Missouri River and across the river was a wall of the Badlands. We even had a solitary bison stroll within feet of our tent at like 5 am.
