Hundreds audition, but only a select group will secure spots in the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders training camp. DCC director Kelli Finglass and head choreographer Judy Trammell oversee the intense audition process and decide which hopefuls will make the team.
Meredith unfortunately wasn't right for the DCC style, but she dances beautifully and seems very sweet. I felt bad for her :/

Meredith should have gotten cut last year, this must have been harder for her. She should have definitely auditioned for the rockettes, she’s not powerful enough for the dcc style
The rookies were ready to play! They had already known the routines by virtual learning so all the vets should of been more prepared. Unfortunately for Meredith and her memory she was out shined. I hope she comes back next year and is ready for it.

honestly they just did her dirty by putting her in last season and having her constantly mess up at games :/ i think meredith is a great dancer and is obviously classically trained but she’s not rlly dcc style

Yes, sadly I saw it coming too. I agree Meredith should not have made it the last time around; she is so sweet and I got a little teary eyed but she, while beautiful is not a strong performer. It was hard because she truly felt that she was at the top of her game but wasn't. I hope that she will find her place somewhere in dance. She seemed so much more fragile this year. I hope she is okay.

Like some people mentioned on a previous video - she'd be a beautiful Rockette! She's got the look, the technique, and the kicks. DCC just wasn't right for her, but maybe there's another dance company out there that would be a better fit.
Yeah last year I admit I was a bit harsh on her but Meredith seems like a great person and dancer who just isn’t a good fit for this team.
I agree, she’s a gorgeous lyrically trained dancer. I would love to see her in a contemporary dance company
Exactly. A life chapter ending can be incredibly sad and situation like this can feel like the worst thing in the world in that moment, but she should definitelly look around and try for different companies too

The amount of allowances they made for Meredith and her record amount of office visits in last season...at least Meredith can say she was a DCC, even if her tenure wasn't for as long as she'd hoped or expected.
The repeated "they are teaching the choreo at a lightning pace and I'm trying to keep up" when she can't figure out the dances day after day

i agree but i think she could do it she was never on a pom team or did this style she was the technique so she should be able to take some more classes and learn the style and maybe she could come back next season and be amazing

Exactly, she wasn’t strong last season. I think they thought she would rise to their standard but she didn’t. It seems that she’s to polished and delicate of a dancer for DCC. She’s beautiful and a gifted dancer. She will succeed.
Her boyfriend knows Jerry or something like that I know she has ties with all of them so basically they just let her in because of it.
Yes I think it’s better when they don’t make the team at their first audition and then they try harder and audition the next year as a stronger candidate.

The fact that Meredith could not even realize that she was falling short from the beginning, shows that she didn’t have and doesn’t have what it takes, even when she has giving it her all. It’s sad but she is a very different type of dancer, she doesn’t fit with the DCC and I hope she finds the place where her style actually fits and she can thrive. She could be a beautiful Rocket!! It was sad to watch but it was expected 😢
But from her perspective, even if she was the same as last year, she'd made it. She had no reason to believe she wouldn't be successful her second year. She certainly did not get worse.
I think its because they put her on the team last year and she thought she'd be safe because she is performing better this year. I don't think they should have put her on last year, Lily was more consistent and a better choice in my opinion.
@@funwithcupcakes923 very true. I think Kelly gave her a great advice, to work on power and fast pace routines. If DCC is where she really wants to be, I hope she takes that advice to heart, work hard and comes back stronger. The good thing is that, with her talent, she has other choices.

@@scaramouche600 she barely made it that first time. She was very very lucky. BTW, the video is not about me, it’s about them. I don’t know what my abilities and talents have to do with anything. Facts are facts and even Kelly expressed the same concerns and observations. 🤷🏻♀️ There is no hate here, she is an extremely talented dancer, just not built for that style and pace. In life it’s important to understand where and what you are good at.
I honestly blame Kelli & Judy... I love Meredith, but she should of never made it last year.. and now this year.. with false hope, she was truly blindsided and it's so sad.

100% right. She wasn't ready last year. It just shows now even more because these are some of the best rookie candidates they have ever had. Its been made so obvious how unprepared she was

you can tell how comfortable she had gotten based off her reaction versus the rookies who got cut... even her first office visit this season when she broke down in tears during the conversation. she wasn't able to take the cut with grace because she did not expect it whatsoever
Meridth made the team with less skills than most who have been cut. When I think of Maddie not making it her first year and Amy never making it, Meridith being on the team at all is ridiculous.

Meredith is a beautiful dancer but she should have been cut last year. She does not have the DCC style unfortunately. Lovely girl but its not for her and i agree with everyone else Broadway would be amazing option for her.
Meredith is honestly so talented tho. It’s just that the DCC style is a lot more jazz and hiphop focused than how she was trained so she didn’t look as good as the other girls. I hope she keeps dancing!!!

@@SUGAR_XYLER No they shouldn’t lol. The choreo she created was dynamic and a lot more stylized than we are used to seeing from DCC. I’d actually love to see them do more hiphop. Butttt the point of my comment was to say that those particular styles of dance weren’t Meredith’s strong suit and thats okay
I don't think Meredith ever had a session with Kitty? I feel like Kitty would have made this decision long ago.
Kitty should be the one working with the dancers struggling cuz i feel like she would be harder on them to do better than allowing them to be sub par
She went to a workshop with kitty where she said that meredith was relying too much on her looks. Kitty didnt care for her at the point but she wouldve ripped her apart

@@Ralph-cc9xy as a dancer, it depends. Some people get a certain mentality in their head that they need to get torn down. Yes Kitty is brutal, but she's honest. You don't need a dance teacher whose going to lie to you. You need a teacher that says your form is wrong, your style isn't meant for that audition, your off the music, and more. A lot of times you don't see it til someone says it. I know in dance, the harsh teachers with a good heart did better than those who kept their mouths shut and didn't care. Plus, dancers know what Kitty is like. If she's your type of teacher, take her classes. If you don't like her style don't go. It's like going to the gym. Some people like being screamed at. Some like the more positive classes. So really Kitty is great if you listen to her and try your best.
I feel so bad for Meredith because she was put on the team by Kelli. When Kelli said “She made the team by her solo.” What occurred to me is WHY DID KELLI KEEP MEREDITH ON THE TEAM?
Heartbreaking. Say whatever you want about any of these girls, they are *all* so talented, and that was hard to watch.
I do think this new training camp system lets them see quicker who can make this team, and who cannot. Maybe they will use this system post-pandemic
They shouldn't have accepted her last year in the first place. Like that would have been a whole lot more fair to her. And it was very obvious that she was struggling last year.
I agree that this training camp shows a lot about the dancers but I think 2 weeks is too short. Maybe if they did a month but did have them learn the dances ahead of time?
I so agree!! The other format is more suited for a full-length TV season, but this way is a lot more humane. This way, the women who have no shot don't spend thousands and uproot their lives to come to TX for nothing.
I wasn’t and haven’t been a fan of Meredith, but this cut was hard to watch. I felt so bad for her☹️
This was the saddest/nicest cut that I have seen on this show. I personally am happy that Kelli gave her a shot to be on the squad in the first place. Sometimes what happens is you extend someone an opportunity with the hope that they will rise to the occasion. Sometimes it just doesn't work out, but nobody can take the experience (the time she had on the team) away from her.
I'm sure that the one "yes" from the judge was Kelli

yeah, it would have been better to not put her on the team, and let her pursue something more suitable for the talent she has. I sure hope she doesn't come back and put herself through that again.
How is it that they see a dancer's style when they audition, then say their style is a problem?
@@ntheblinkofni some people can learn different styles, and some can't -- they wouldn't find out some of that until rehearsals.

She might not have wanted to be on. I think everyone tried out for it, but she might have a job or something that wouldn't allow her the time to do it. She's one of the best dancers of the whole team.
ive seen this comment on other videos, but i completely agree that meredith got too comfortable. she got comfortable with kelli and judy being accommodating to her, and after a year she got comfortable being on the team and was expecting that they'd treat her the same. as a vet you cant ask for more time to work on timing and style...you just have to have it. she was still in that rookie mentality coming into training camp when she's supposed to be a leader. she's a lovely person and clearly a team favorite. wishing her the best for whatever she wants to do next though!
I’m sorry but I think she was just too full of herself and I think Kelly and Judy are kind of partly to blame! She should have never made it her first year. How she said she had no idea what they would want to talk with her about when they called her in, come on! How did kitty not eat her alive is what I would like to know! Lol
I really hope Meredith doesn't stop dancing and finds a company or show that is more her style and gives her more time to learn the choreo. She's a lovely dancer and seems genuinely sweet. Not every dancer is good for every style/team/dance company and that's ok. There is a place for her somewhere in the dance world. 💙
meredith never fit the DCC criteria, she was just chosen for her looks. it was always looks looks looks and a few comments on her technique, even when her skills wasn’t the best at all.

Poor Kelli and Judy. They have the best job in the world being able to make dreams come true, but also the worst job in the world having to break so many peoples hearts.
Kelli uses certain girls like Meredith for drama and ratings. Once Meredith was no longer an use for her and Charlotte, she got rid of her. I feel bad for Meredith, but I do not feel bad for Kelli. It has come down to what the show can bring for Kelli, Charlotte, CMT and even Jerry Jones himself than showing what it takes to become a DCC.

Meredith’s cut was avoidable by not having put her on the team last year. This was the inevitable result. It’s a shame.
She's so much more of a Rockette than a DCC, her poise and technique and grace are stunning in her dancing and she's so much more technical than hard-hitting

People forget that this year there were no veteran auditions. The veterans who have been/will be cut from training camp were likely the ones who wouldn’t have been invited into training camp in the first place.

I was literally saying the same thing when I watched this! Almost had to remind myself that they didn’t audition like normal.
you can tell that everyone really loves Meredith as a person and as a dancer but from the first day she got back to training camp you could tell she was not one of the strongest in the room and you could tell that she had a great chance of being cut. She is an absolute incredible dancer and an amazing person but she was not right for the DCC style and I feel really bad for her because you can see the heartbreak in her eyes when she was cut and it was really sad 🥺🥺🥺

It doesn't need repeating...Meredith's issue was an issue of style/fit. Unlike some other folks, I don't blame Judy and Kelliy for wanting to give her a chance. She is really well trained and if she could have picked up the style her execution would be flawless.
It seems like, for better or worse, most veterans make it back to training camp. Maybe this cut should have come sooner, but I think this is perhaps the most direct I have seen Kelly in one of these meetings. She said, "I wish we did what you did in your solo on the field. But we don't."
I wish Meredith the best of luck and like everyone else has said, hopes she keeps dancing somewhere where her style and skills can be featured/highlighted.

Coming from a dance background and dancing for a NBA team for 2 seasons, A lot of times these girls WOW you in a solo ( Thats in their best style and a solo they've been practicing for months) and wow you in a interview. But then when it comes down to learning on the spot and learning the teams dance style they get lost because they can't pick up choreography fast and thats not a style they are use to. She's a beautiful dancer in her style of dance, I just wished she trained more in DCC style. Never get comfortable you can always be replaced!
Aww Meredith! Such a natural beauty, but she didn't have the DCC style down. She should have been cut last year and then she could've focused more on developing the style more...Well at least she got 1 year of experience, some people never make it on the team.
I usually cry when they announce the team. I was crying on this episode. Meredith is a beautiful dancer and woman. Maybe DCC isn't right for her, but she has more dance talent than a lot of them. Definitely a different type of dancing. Meredith: go dance on Broadway, or SYTYCD, or some other place where your talents can be showcased. Maybe even the Rockettes, if you are tall enough!
I was so happy to see Claire W made show group! She has been my favorite rookie since day 1 since we met the rookies. She’s so talented and I can’t wait to see her make this team 😍

I wish we got to see more of her cause she’s so awesome but if she keeps going the way she is I think she’s gonna be around for a long time as a DCC so hopefully we’ll see more of her then 😍

I did feel bad for her. She didn’t seem to see it coming even though they gave her a wake call a couple of episodes ago. In every camera interview she talked about how she was stronger this season and doing her best and that was she was sure that her spot was secure. It was almost like she was in denial. I hope that she finds a place where her dance talents can shine.

Meredith has had an uphill battle every single tryout and every single rehearsal. I have no idea why they kept her as long as they did.
Flip side…..she dances beautifully. She has incredible grace and you can totally get lost in time watching her solo performances. I just don’t think cheerleading is the direction she needs to go as a dancer. She needs to transition to bigger things like Broadway. I honestly think that is her calling. She’s an amazing dancer.
As much as I saw this coming, watching Meredith get cut was so sad. You can tell she’s been trying- dcc is just not where her training can be best used.
Even though I wanted her cut and I'm glad they did cut her to keep the standard up on the team, I'm still sad for her. She's sweet and talented and Kelly and Judy really got her hopes up last year when they let her be on the team and convinced her that she had the DCC style. And then they were all surprised when she couldn't keep up this year. She's a talented dancer no question, she just couldn't seem to get a hang of the DCC style and unfortunately Kelly and Judy realized that too late. I'm really hoping she goes on to dance somewhere else where she can really let her technique shine.
the thing with meredith thinking she had gotten better, is that yes she might of (i cant say i have seen enough/know enough to say definitively) but a lot of allowances were made for her last year and there are some really really strong rookies, so while she might have gotten better, she just isnt at the standard needed for DCC, but unfortunately she doesn't recognise that because she made the team last year due to Kelly and Judy making exceptions for her essentially, so in her mind its 'I made the team last year, Im better this year, shouldn't that mean I make the team again'. its why everyone is saying Kelly and Judy almost did her dirty by putting her on the team last year

You can tell it was very hard for Kelli to cut her favorite, but she’s right, you can’t make this team with only 1 judge rooting hard for you.
Meredith is a beautiful girl w/one of the best smiles, & she’s a beautiful dancer as well, but her style is not DCC. I could tell she was lacking this year especially w/all the amazing new rookies. She barely made the team last year, & they had to accommodate their original 36 girls to 37 to make that happen for her last year. Yes, you can blame Kelli for basically lowering their standards for Meredith, but I truly put it all on Meredith. Just bc you’re a vet doesn’t mean you have a secure spot. She should of taken her corrections, applied them, & never be content. She got too comfortable, & we all saw it during this year’s training camp. I like Meredith, but the favoritism was definitely apparent, & she got too comfortable. I don’t think she’s coming back bc it seems like she was overwhelmed w/how fast pace it was, & she knows deep down she can’t hang. I wish her the best in her endeavors. 💖
Poor Meredith. A tough end for such an obviously sweet person. Just because Meredith didn't quite cut it as a DCC dancer doesn't mean she isn't a great dancer.
I'm certain Kelli and her crew consider a lot of information when deciding who is a DCC and who isn't. Sure being Kitty-Carter-Approved is a big requirement to be a DCC, but it's not the only requirement. I think Meredith ticked enough of the other boxes to warrant a year trial as a DCC.
Meredith was one of the last to make the team last year so I figure Meredith was the last pick in last year's draft. (Didn't they take 37 instead of 36 and say they were going to have weekly "try outs" to see who was in the squad of 36 on the field each week?) No one expected her to be the best on the team and it cost almost nothing to give her an opportunity. Kelli obviously hoped given Meredith's technical dancing proficiency that over the course of last year Meredith would be able to adapt to the DCC style. It just didn't pan out.
The only thing Kelli could have done differently was to explicitly tell Meredith, "I'm taking a flier on you. Work hard at this or that aspect of your dancing because I can't keep waiting on you to catch up." But all respect to Kelli because she never ducked her decision and she didn't duck the consequences of it either. Meridith should have never made the team in the first place. She's a great dancer but with as long as it took her to finally catch on last year,I feel like she took the place of girls who could have been a lot better fit. I feel like she only made it because Kelli liked her, not because she was good for the team
They knew she was not ready a year ago with all her mistakes. If not for her looks, they would not have drug it out this long. I think they wasted her time and theirs.

I don’t think people were expecting this cut to be this heartbreaking though. You can tell she was completely shocked and didn’t see this coming.

Feeling bad for her and thinking she should be on the team are two very different things. I feel terrible for her because I feel like they set her up to fail. She is a beautiful, talented dancer but her style was not right. She shouldn’t have been put on the team in the first place. It was unnecessary heartbreak and it was hard to watch. She is such a lovely person.
Nah. I think we all knew she should have been cut last year. But that doesn't mean we don't feel sorry for her, or think she's a bad dancer. She's not a bad dancer, just not a DCC style dancer.

I think she is one of the prettiest people I have ever seen
I feel for Meredith i mean every girl wants to be a DCC however she was not a powerful dancer. She was weak last year and she's weak this year for being a trained dancer she does not pick up choreography fast and I really feel like her attitude was that of a girl who gets what she wants. And if she cries she will grt her way. Im not saying her technique isn't there shes perfect with ballet and contemporary but you know thats not the DCC style. There is much better things out there for her

Meredith should have gotten cut last year but because yes she is a great technical dancer but she isn't great at the dcc routines she gets by her pretty face there has been tons of girls that are way better then her that got cut for tiny mistakes
Edit: I grew up dancing all styles i think she is a great dancer in ballet and contemporary but she just isn't the best at the dcc style which is sad I hope she keeps dancing in the styles she is best at

Some of these rookies came in with incredible energy and drive. I was so sad to see Meredith go. But she was simply out performed. But I love her so much. But some of these rookies came in hungry for those boots.

I'm glad that they are showcasing what a great technical dancer Meredith is and why she was eventually cut. I also understand why they put her on the team last year. She IS a beautiful dancer and has a long dance record so I am sure they were hoping that a year on the team might help adjust her dance technique to the DCC style. Some can and some can't. But, I guarantee you that once Meredith got over the shock of being cut from the team that she would be the first person to tell you that she has no regrets and that her year on the team was the ride of a lifetime. We all see the thousands of women that line up every year with the hope that they could wear the DCC uniform at all...much less a year. She gave it her all and I guarantee you that she will go on to other great achievements.

It was yes, it was shown in the episode during the deliberations after SG auditions, but i think it’s good they didn’t tell her who said what exactly. (Although, now that I write that down, she has obviously been able to see the whole episode too 😅)
It’s always sad and hard when a DCC candidate gets cut. It’s even harder in the (rare) case a veteran is cut. Meredith is a beautiful dancer, sweet, and well spoken. You can tell she was appreciative that she got to be a DCC and was understanding of why she was being cut. I’m interested to see if she does audition again. She’s a great dancer and even if she doesn’t get to be a DCC again, there’s another team of dance company that would be more than lucky to have her (:

Meredith got out danced by the younger girls that were in the bubble. She did’nt know the routines at all. She lost her edge as a veteran.

It’s not about that. She’s clearly talented but got so much favoritism last year it was ridiculous. She was never a good fit for DCC.
