Based on the stage play by Samuel D.Hunter who also wrote the movie's screenplay. Darren Aronofsky is known for tackling serious, dark subject matters. His films are masterpieces that most people can only watch once (Requiem for a Dream, The Wrestler, Black Swan). This was Brendan Fraser's comeback film, he won the Best Actor Oscar and the makeup also won.
Dude, Requiem for a Dream was a hard one to watch.
I love Darren Aronofsky and his movies, this one, Requiem For A Dream and The Wrestler made me ugly cry😢❤
I knew very little about this movie, other than the praise for Brendan Fraser but I thought I'd watch along with you guys to see how it went. It also left me a bit speechless at the end. I spent most of the movie feeling very emotional and it was most unexpected but I also struggled with how brutal they were to each other, there was such a clash between cruelty and kindness. Words can be so cutting. For me, it spoke about the effects of grief and loss, trauma, shame and guilt, how we can be so hurtful to the people we care about the most (especially to ourselves) - things too close to home for me. This may not be your most watched reaction but it was an experience worth sharing. I hope you venture into these other genres more.
What a cool surprise on a Thursday night..now I have racoon eyes as if I didn't cry enough the first time I watched it..
I think I remember reading it may have been a play first or the screenwriter is a playwright or something..
So, these are exactly the types of scripts that are selling currently if you are a new/newer screenwriter. Great story, few locations, small budget..

I gotta recommend Zach Braff's film A Good Person with Florence Pugh and Morgan Freeman. It deserves a lot more attention than it gets. For anyone who enjoys movies like this one it's a really beautiful movie.
This movie is such a great one, even though it is difficult to watch. Brendan Fraser did an amazing job and earned his Oscar win for Best Actor!! This movie alone has brought him back in the spotlight.
The first time I saw this film in theaters, I was crying through a lot of the film. It deals with so many themes, and heavy ones too. I highly recommend it to everyone to watch at least once!!

You all should react tp Philadelphia (1993) wirh Tom Hanks and Denzel Washington. Tom Hanks plays a homosexual lawyer wirh HIV who tries ro hide it from his law firm until he can't. The movie is one of Tom Hanks' Best Actor Oscars.
I would LOVE for them to react, I feel like hiv/aids is still such a relevant topic and people hide it all the time and live in shame even 40 years after the original epidemic 😢 it is an incredible movie and Tom hanks deserved that award.
