    Another great video! Love your sense of humor and sarcasm 😁
    I was really hoping for 21700 series headlamp. Maybe a HC75 will be next? I have the HC65 and it’s still an excellent headlamp after 7 years of hard use!

      @ActionAdventureTwins 2 года назад +5

      agreed! this headlamp seems great the beam throw is amazing but a headlamp with similar specs as this hc68 but with the 21700 battery would be even more awesome! a little extra weight to carry on your head is worth not having to change the batteries as often.

      So, the HC35 was the "test" model for Nitecore to make a 21700 headlamp, and the overall feedback they got from users is that it makes it just a hair too big and heavy. So I am doubtful if they will be releasing any in the future, unless its a split design with just a LED array in the front, and the battery seperate.

      I love my HC35s wish you would make a new version. I don't think its heavy at all and I wear it almost all day everyday..

    This looks like a great headlamp but:
    - It is advertised for both hiking and caving. To me here one can not fit all. What is good for hiking is not good for caving and viceversa.
    - The Luminus LED don't like much as CREE ones. CREE is the pinnacle of LPW for high power.
    - The lasting hours doesn't look great either, maybe Nitecore is a bit conservative here, for instance Fenix HP25R with the same LED claims 56h @50Lm where Nitecore claims 28h @50Lm. The difference is double!!
    - Totally agree the battery should have been 21700. I don't mind the extra weight because the helmet holds the headlamp in place.
    Thanks, the video clarify all the gaps the technical documentation has regarding the E-focus adjustment. I see you have made some cuts compare to the video uploaded to Amazon 😉
    Great addition to the extensive product portfolio!

      For caving you would want a wide ilumination angle!
      And for hiking the spot is good to have, if you hear an animal in the distance you can see it better with the Spot.

    I dig. Handy mechanics light or an electricians light or indeed a plumbers light, perhaps even an HVAC repairman's light. Could even be good for walking, if you're into that sort of thing. BTW let corporate or the engineers know that silicone buttons don't last and all mode buttons should be replaced with TINI style hard plastic. I just want to push your buttons...but I can't because the silicone covers have come off on many of my TIP series lights.

    • @NitecoreStore

      @@NitecoreStore Or, make the silicone button covers a wear item, similar to o-rings, and sell them the site so we could repair worn out button covers.

    We may or may not release the unedited version of this video which was over....14 minutes long. There are quite a lot of subtleties I had to cut out when it comes to the HC68 UI. 😖

    The jump in lumens between mid and high are out of proportion with the others. A choice between 200+ or 900+? A 500+ option would be nice.

  • @ALAPINO

    Not stating color bins is a bit annoying. If you can, please pass on that criticism. CRI and color temp is important to some of us.
    One user stated his was warmer, so might one be correct in assuming that it is the lowest of the available bins Luminus offers, 5000 K?
    Edit: Though one would hardly describe 5000 K as warm.

    • @ALAPINO
      @ALAPINO 2 года назад +1

      @Daniel Dayton My experience has led me to generally prefer lower colour temperatures all round. Better rendition, doesn't cause undue eyestrain, etc.
      I would love to know if someone out there in academia has done published work on it. However, I'm certain multiple corporations have done their own proprietary research for their own products. Chiefly the safety lighting and automotive lighting companies.
      Frankly, if I were able to have my way, nothing would be over 5000 K and nothing would be PWM driven. :P

    • @ALAPINO
      @ALAPINO 2 года назад +1

      @Daniel Dayton Indeed, K is Kelvin. Theoretical "Black Body" temp 0°K to whatever is emitted at a particular temperature over that.
      Now, it's been a very long time since my last pertinent physics/light theory lecture on the subject: Colour Temp concerns the Y/B (yellow/blue) shift and Tint concerns the G/M (green/magenta) shift. I'm pretty certain that "tint" in colour theory/visual art/paint is any colour with white added.
      Honestly, if anyone says tint around a flashaholic, they'll understand you.
      (To add to the confusion some manufacturers use the term "tint" to describe the colour quality of an emitter or a flashlight)

    Since most of the Nitecore products already have Type-C slot. I was just wondering why not Nitecore makes it programmable on a computer so users can choose what essential and what not for their daily use. Please make my wish come true. 🙏

    Beautiful Technical Review. It would be even more beautiful to see more Real World 🌎 use in a completely dark forest 🌳 vs a dimly lit Suburb to show how well a flashlight 🔦 lights an area vs how well it lights the side of a tree 🌳

    The article on the site '50 Uses for a Headlamp' may have gone a couple of steps too far with those on Rioting and Looting. Just sayin'. That said, I still love and appreciate my MINI2 and would like to loot more items from you. I'd like to save up enough for the HC68 but alas, it's either depressing or repressing right now, depending on the news of the day.

    Bought 1 last week, everything works except for 3 functions.
    I am unable to access the turbo while the light is off (Holding down the power button) but can access turbo only after light is turned on.
    Direct access Ultralow and Higher by holding down either + or - then pressing the power button doesn't work, instead it does the "power indication", blinking 3 times to show battery is above 50%.
    The manual states I can access Turbo, higher and ultralow while the light is off but all 3 functions don't work.
    Is that normal?

    This headlamp is POORLY designed! Why didn't Nitecore just make the power button the source of light focus? That would have been extremely EASY to operate your focus beam by just turning the knob on the power buttons. 🤷🏻‍♂
