Tom, The video quality of your motor bike trips is top notch! The elevated and steady camera makes it appear like you are floating through the traffic. It seems very dangerous to maneuver through traffic using all sides of the road, but you seem to do it very easily. Stay safe.
Lots of people are leaving the us right now. I can't wait to get out .l really do not think that the US or Europe is going to be the best place to be in the coming years ahead at all.
Agree these westerners are surely responsible ...they convert dollars to thai bhatt and get big money naturally doing so o and now they are complaining for what ? Honestly pattaya has now lost its charm ...it's expensive , crowded and full of westerner's
@satanspy @TrevorRajadhen This is an interesting topic in itself. I can see the rise of prices from the nightlife and tourist stand point but for ALL other things, Thailand is a bargain for the expats/retirees that are willing to live on a budget and avoid an extravagant lifestyle.
Go to the UK. See what real prices are extortionate for food and general living electricity and gas highest in Europe. I will say cars in Thailand are expensive second hand more than the UK. .uk people can't complain about Thailand prices soo much cheaper at least. 3 x in my opinion
Eggs $4.50 butter $5 bread $3 milk $4 that’s in Iowa Fruit is literally not worth buying anymore Pork $7/lb Beef $13-20/lb That’s in Walmart 2L cola $3
Any import here is triple, I paid 570k for my 2014 Harley here. Food prices here are still stupid cheap, especially night markets like YAIMAK in Jomtien, also look how cheap those grilled toaster sandwiches are at 7/11 cost ya $6 in US, THAI SUGAR FREE REDBULL 80 CENTS!!!
When you say "any import is Triple" What do you mean? I ask this to clarify for others as well. I know my friend just bought a Mercedes Benz car and had to pay 100% in import tax, I think his total cost was 6M baht for the car. Personally to me when a guy can afford to pay this much for a car; he's more than likely not worried about inflation or cost of living.
You really have to make an effort when shopping these days when an item is rung up you have to make sure you get the sale price. There are many times in a grocery store if something doesn’t have a sale price I don’t buy it. Lots of times if you want to go out to eat or pick something up you need to hunt up sale or need the restaurants app. Sometimes it is easier to order something online and have it delivered rather than go to the store and hunt someone down to unlock it.
The unlock story reminds me of a story. Last time I was in the USA, I was stocking up on things to bring back to Thailand. Turns out they lock up condoms. I asked someone to find someone to unlock these. They sent this young girl to unlock the cabinet. She asked what I wanted? I told her the Trojan Magnum values packs. She asked how many I told her all of them. This little girl just looked at me like I was joking. I started reaching in the case to grab a few boxes. She had about a fit and told me she had to take them to register #1 and I could purchase them there. Needless to say the whole ordeal was uncomfortable.
This is part of the problem with that place. Americans think all places are as infalted as thier own country, thats is not true. In Thailand inflation has maybe made prices increased something like a maximum 7%. The US dollar is a strong currency, making it cheap for americans. This is why they inflate prices in Pattaya.
Another interesting point but I disagree about singling the USD. Most advanced technologies countries currencies are strong. People in general see a coke cola can at 7/11 for 16 baht and think it's so cheap compared to whatever country they are from. Of course this is just one example. Another thing is inflation in Pattaya has verily moved in the last 18 years with the exceptions of nightlife & tourist driven products. A good example is baht bus cost haven't changed since I 1st arrived in 2006. I stayed at the Sabai Inn on Soi 2 in 2006. That room cost me 1000 bt a night then, Tonight it will cost you 900 baht. In 2006 a taxi to from Don Mueng Airport to Pattaya was 2000 baht today it will cost 1500-2000 baht. In 2006, a plate of Pad Thai at my favorite street vendor would cost 40 baht today it will cost 50 baht. In 2006, going to McDonald's for a quarter pounder w/cheese combo meal would have 380 baht, today it's 379 baht. Diesel prices have not changed more than 4 baht in 25 years. Gasoline prices have changed more than 15 baht in 25 years. My condo originally sold for 895K baht 30 years ago, I bought for 1.5M baht 4 years ago. Minimum wage has only increased 163 baht in the last 25 years. Tourist and 1-month millionaires drive inflation. They compare prices to what they might have to pay in their home country. They see cheap prices and go over-board on tipping ect... They figure that they are on holiday and book top of the line international hotel chains and pay world market prices for rooms. They tip everybody including motorbike taxi drivers, ect...
@@MargaritasinParadise I have seen what thaimen pay across Thailand in the places they go to. Its not 2000 for an average looking girl on soi 6. There is alot of truth in what you write here. Nice, sounds like a voice of experience
I've noticed Burger king in Pattaya is now more expensive than in UK. plus burger slightly smaller than here.
It's amazing that westerners come to Thailand and eat Burger King. But, I have to admit, even I have stumbled in every now and then.
@@MargaritasinParadise I rarely eat there just making point regarding rising food costs.
