Hello Patrick 👋 It’s great to be back with you on the job site! Boy O Boy Patrick, did you ever Snazz up the Sanding Section… very tricky 👍👍 Nice work on the Cabinets they look terrific! Good choice on not painting the one wall (for now)… I will see you next week on the Moose 👍 Take care of yourself Patrick.
Really geat job on the cabinets Patrick. I like the simplicity of them & the contrast of the old barnwood doors with the spruce face frames. Well my friend, my wife & I are headed first Southern California & then onto New Mexico tomorrow morning. We're helping out a friend who crashed his motorcycle 2 days ago in California & returning him back to his home in New Mexico & while in New Mexico we will be looking to buy about 20 acres of land. We're excited to go on a road trip. Sincerely, the old Montana cowboy, Frank Scherping❤😊
This is wonderful. I just came across your channel, but my dream has been to live a similar lifestyle, having a cottage and live in more balanced life with nature and cherries the simpler life overall. Thank you again for making these videos and having chance to see your journey. Love it and staying a fan. All the best.
i really enjoy when you mix in wood from that old house, and i can not help but to think, back when that old house was built, every fastener was put in by by hand, no power tools, whew, lol
I'm with you and enjoy eating the wild game that I've processed myself. In fact I just had grilled venison steak for supper 😋. Really enjoyed the episode again this week!
Hello From Fort Worth, TX! I wanted to say that I really like your channel and it’s been really enjoyable watching you build your cabins. We have something in common in that we share the same first name and so do our wives! I noticed that you had your bit fall out of your drill chuck in this last episode and while you may already know this, thought perhaps I would share this tidbit about drill chucks just in case you didn’t. The drill chucks actually have a “lock” to keep the drills/bits from falling out after tightening…after you tighten your bit into the chuck, rotate the chuck to the right (with the chuck facing away from you) lightly until you feel it rotate and lock. It doesn’t take much effort to rotate it but you will feel it turn about and lock in place. It was one of those “No way!!!!” Moments when I found that out a few years back! Anyway, keep up the fantastic work and videos, have really enjoyed watching all of them and have learned a few things too! Your property is beautiful and I like when you pan around and show the wildlife and scenery! Happy building! Pat FWTX
Armchair critic here- maybe the next cabinet doors you make, you could screw them onto the cross boards feom the inside? So the screws don't show? Just a thought for future projects.😊 I will admit with the dark wood you cant really see them anyways so on this job it doeant really matter.
The cabinets were really good. I would prefer the internal shelves going till the back of the cabinet (did I explained correctly?), but it's fine as you did too. 😊 Hugs from your Brazilian friend.
We came by yesterday to help out but did not see you around. Really like your channel and are planning to do something similar to our property in Happy Jack Arizona.
I like the idea of using deer antlers for handles ,but you still have keep the doors close😮d,so you could just use rare earth magnets an 😮insert them in your frame, that’s what we used in our cabin ,just my 2cents worth.
@@LifeontheMoose you’re doing much better 🤣 they are aggravating, but I lost sight of an eye due to not wearing them back in 86. Many enjoy your carpentry expertise, please keep setting the safety standard. 👍
Nice to get away from digital paperwork and get to wood-making! I like the rustic door trim but you can paint if you like. I also have to drop at least 1 screw to make the job official! rustic cabinets work. I am good with it! You could make a mini bookholder with the scraps on the windowsill.
Excellent entertaining video as always! 👍 Cabinets looks great! From my experience, I try to avoid combination of wood and drywall screws in places where moisture can accumulate - drywall screws are brutal and heads, after time, broke off when used in wood and then it's pain in B to get leftovers out. That's why I have furniture and wood screws too - they are softer and designed for wood.. But, by now, no worries about that for few years.. 😉 Right decision to do not paint that wall by now.. 👍 Indeed, paint or stain can be applied any time later..
Again, nice job. The contrast of wood and colors puts the personal touch on it. Still loving the way you do things your way cause "It'll be alright". Oh, and that night view starting @ 10.06 makes rural living that much better.
I have to say it's high time you put that busted Craftsman to rest and get you a decent table saw. Skil makes a nice one that's affordable... and Amazon delivers!!😊
Cabinet look amazing great job like always can’t wait till your next video ❤until then stay healthy stay strong and like always god bless you my friend 🙏❤️✌🏼
I just started watching the latest video when y went to the corner behind the door (power to the cabin) I had a thought when you were talking about the extension cord. You might want to consider a single gang recessed power outlet. You'll have to search it I couldn't paste a picture.
You are a multi talented sander! Awesome behind the back move! 😊 Entertaining and informative video again Patrick. You mentioned Western Washington……are you in North Central Washington?
15:07 This reminds me of the day I realized what frameless cabinetry was. I was building a rather large cabinet, about 5 or 6 feet across and 10 feet tall to fill in an otherwise ugly and useless kitchen space in an Edwardian I where lived in North Beach. I had a plan all drawn up by hand (long before I had any idea about sketch up. well it was 10 years before that existed). I had my pencil drawn print and when I went to look at the shallow space the cabinet was going into, probably 10 inches deep, I realized a frame was a waste of space and with no plan at all, started building what I later found out was called a frame less cabinet. The only real frame was a face frame that held the cabinet doors. AND I built the whole thing so it could be removed in the future (to the great chagrin of my landlady). Other than a few screw holes to fill with paint matched putty, you couldn't tell that cabinet had been there when I moved out. I can truly say I left that flat better than I found it. MUCH better. I put a short dark green marble counter top in that (about 3ft by whatever the depth was. Most expensive material in the cabinet by many multiples). Broom closet to the right of that and a light bar over the marble top with storage above that you needed a ladder to get to. That was about 18 cubic feet in volume. Whole thing was made out of red oak that I clear coated with Varathane. Because back then, everyone knew a girl could roller skate on that finish! It showed it right on the can so it had to be true. I made the doors with my trusty beast 40hp diesel powered Bosch plunge router and Freud bits that cost about as much as the router. I need another garbage house to work on I think.
Au Naturel, good choice! Your accent is almost perfect, LOL. Awesome weather for this episode, what was the temperature? I couldn’t make it from your thermometer. By the way, I’ve got a suggestion for making sanding look better on the camera… don’t sand on the camera! LOL. Just kidding, 30 seconds of sanding is ok. 🤣.
The cabinets look great. Very nice job. I hope you found a sponsor that will donate you a power station. If not, you need to reach out to some of the companies. Your video and your channel is top notch. The companies out of fight over who gets to supply you with power station. Just a thought. Maybe I missed it, but what are you actually going to do with the cabin when you're finished? Is it going to be an Airbnb origins private personal use. Just wondering.
If you do decide to to use deer antler handles, which we used in our cabin , you can just order rare earth magnets and insert them on the cabinet s just my 2 cents worth Thanks

Why do you park so far away from the wood shed?
A combination of getting a decent camera angle, not bothering bird nests, and having room to swing long boards around.
