    Every part coming together ,
    Once had a gun rack made with two round edge slats of thick middles
    Round pieces of dowel type branches in between each board
    With painted black railroad spikes covered in felt on one side.
    These on either sides of vertical boards.
    Makes good rustic gun rack

    I just read your comment "And I included a quick "bonus" project for those interested in re-purposing otherwise worthless materials from yesteryear. Check it out!" and thought you'd be interested in how I did just that last week. I mentioned several videos ago that I am building a room for my grandson and me to have for our HO train hobby. Well I had to eliminate about 60 sq, ft. off my decking to make room for it. My wife has been after me for longer than I care to mention to get some above ground planter boxes for her gardening. Old redwood makes perfect planter boxes and doesn't cost as much as the big box stores want for theirs.
    It is always good to watch your progress as you work on this cabin. It's like watching an artist doing a painting. The further you advance, the better it looks. The old cabin's recycled wood, the rail spikes, the bottle stoppers, the branch railing all gives it that personal environment that tells the artists story. What a legacy! Keep it going "your way" and I'll be back to assist you next time. God bless.
    Oh, I almost forgot...you'd better paint that door so people'll quit pestering you.

    • @LifeontheMoose
      @LifeontheMoose  Месяц назад

      Ah excellent. You saved money, re-used materials, and most importantly made your wife happy!

    Hi Patrick, it's Stewart from Paisley in Scotland..... I love the live edge worktops and shelves..... To fix the gap at the back without using a trim piece on the worktop, I would square it off then glue and screw a 1 1/2 inch fill in piece, same thickness on the back, slide it back in, poly it and hey presto, you wouldn't even notice the difference.😊

Got some fresh cut red cedar planned down and some more to pick up. Nice wood. 4x4 s. 1X16's live edge I'll think of something. Hat, 45-70, storage benvh with vun hst rack on top. Maybe a tabletop and a bed head and foot board. Got a fair amount. You take care. Welcome spring

    I sure like the way that door sounds when it closes. You can tell how expertly a door is installed by the way it sounds when it closes. I also had a little talk with God about those shelves and countertops. I told Him how amazing they looked, how beautiful and aesthetically perfect they were for the cabin. I know they came from a tree, which grew wild in His dirt, from a small seed, then stood for a few decades, then fell or was cut down. I still wondered at the beauty of the wood it produced. God said "Well thank you. That was just one of my regular trees, nothing special. I just made the rules, you know, the ones you call "Mother Nature", and then pretty much just let them grow however they want. I even made some bugs and worms and chemicals and put them in my soil, just to make things a little more interesting. But I truly am glad that you like it! After all, I DID put it there for y'all to use." You, sir, have used all of it extremely well on this cabin build. Looking forward to the next video.

    38:10 A belfast style sink or lowered countertop with a rustic looking sink thing - say a ceramic bowl of some kind - could go in between the two cabinets. Under the sink you could do the curtain thing to neaten it up a bit.
    You could put a plastic 50 gallon drum on the ground behind the cabin and use one of those rustic looking pitcher pumps to get the water in the cabin. The drum could be removable so it can be filled and put back as needed. Maybe even a rainwater catchment system and some sort of a water filter could be installed.
    The wastewater could be piped to go a little ways down hill to where the dead tree(s) used to be...

      @LifeontheMoose  Месяц назад

      Hey thanks so much! Glad you like it.
      Good question!
      Off ground is a good alternative if you want good air flow underneath, or concerned about drainage or critters, or don’t have the materials or wherewithal for a more complex foundation.
      The main cabin on Red Moose Ranch is built on slab.
