    What lens did you use for this? I also have a 50W machine and am thinking about giving this a try. I have a 200mm lens and a 150mm lens, but I saw a comment on another video saying it's best to use a 70mm or 110mm lens for slide cuts like this, but that doesn't seem right to me... I know you get far more concentrated power with smaller lenses like that, but you also get a VERY narrow depth of field where the lens is in focus, so wouldn't the laser go out of focus quickly with a small lens as it gets a millimeter or two deep into the metal during the cut? And you can't really adjust the Z height mid cut to bring it back into focus either because it changes where the laser is hitting so it wouldn't be cutting in the same groove anymore if you do that...

      I just keep adjusting the z height to put it in focus. you can use a larger lens, it will take longer but it still wont cut straight down as the laser head is a fixed point.

      Yes, your 30 could do this with the right set up and parameters. It would just take a little bit longer. It took me with a 50w about 40 mins for each hole.

    Do you worry that burning the nylon releases cyanide and other dangerous fumes and traces on the grip?

    • @luxuryFirearmservices1911
      @luxuryFirearmservices1911  3 года назад

      I have 2 blower fans sucking the fumes straight outside so that I hopefully don't breathe any of the fumes. This ls an enclosed laser as well so the fumes don't have much of a chance escaping the ventilation hose.
