Fucking amazing tut dude! I was watching like 50 other on this and couldnt fcking find one with such detail and simpleness, This is great for me, A beginner, thanks.
This is BRILLIANT! This will help me at work, where I have to sometimes wrap graphics around cylindrical shapes for trade show structures. Before this, I would have to rasterize the graphic, then use Object/Envelope Distort/Make with Mesh. Question: Is it possible to do this without rasterizing? I'd would like to keep the distorted images live so that they automatically update if the graphics change. Thank you very much for sharing, instant Sub!
Thank you and great to hear. If you are wanting to wrap live graphics around a cylinder you might want to look into 3D within Illustrator. I don't have a video on this but the video below is a good demo... Cylinder Warped Graphics • Adobe Illustrator Tutorial ruclips.net/video/ymHXypEfeZs/видео.html Be aware that 3D has been dramatically updated in the latest version of Illustrator. If you like the old way of doing things you can access them from the menu... Effect > 3D and Materials > 3d (Classic) Hope that helps and thanks for the sub.
i know this is an old video, but is there anyway for you to make a video about using text envelop distort with more complex objects. I have yet to figure out how to get it clean. It seems to do whatever it wants.
I did this exactly that and I got a message saying "This requires a selection of multiple objects. The top object must be a single path, mesh or single path mesh" I don't know what I did wrong :(((
Can you get it to work if you use a really simple example? Can you get my example to work with a single word inside of a circle? Once you've got a simple example working, start to increase the complexity of the elements involved. Hopefully you'll be able to then work out what kind of element you are using that is preventing the effect from working. Good luck and please let us know how you get on.
@@lucerosoto2902 Have you tried creating an extremely simple example? If you can get that to work, start to increase the complexity of the elements involved.
Hi! I'm trying to follow your tutorial but in my case the border lines when applied stay right and wont follow the curved line of the shape ant help? thanks
Hi Riccardo. Sorry to hear you're having an issue. Unfortunately I don't understand what you problem is. Could you explain it a little further. Cheers.
@@MichaelBullo Im having the same problem. So when we press Envelope distort the lines don't distort to the curves of the shape I drew they try to stay like a square and look like a mess. I followed tutorial exactly and don't know what I'm doing wrong
@@destinycarson1099 Hi Destiny. I just ran a couple of tests on my computer but I don't seem to be able to reproduce your problem. Any chance you could put your file on something like Dropbox and post the link here so I can review it?
it'll work with a circle. The shape I'm trying to use is a rectangle that is concave on top and bottom so the text will be fat on the ends and narrow in the middle.

Thank you Shahriar. I appreciate that.
This is such an awesome function; I'm having a great time experimenting with it thanks to your guidance. Many thanks!

Thanks Michael!
Thank you
Can you make a drop shadow in this selection? Or a box around? I can’t seem to do this.
You can't add a drop shadow? Can you explain the problem in more detail?
Nice and easy. Thanks for sharing
Thank you. Happy designing.
Great video!!

It's 2021 and I've still got this same problem. It doesn't follow the path cleanly. It's messy for real.

Doesn't work for me. The text that I'm distorting turns into scribbles?? Any ideas?
