_Man,_ your recordings always sound so good. It's really inspiring and excites me about the studio I'm putting together. Admittedly, I've copped a lot of gear you employ for use in my own spot (MA5's, Averill and API 312's, the Sytek quad pre's, a _bunch_ of Audio-Scape gear - seriously, at least 10 pieces and growing, a pair each of the ATC SMC12's and NS10's) to go along with the rest of the stuff I've acquired. So I can't understate how much I appreciate you sharing what you do. I had previously forgot to extend my condolences to you for the loss of your friend Steve Albini. I never had the pleasure of meeting and/or working with him and yet, he was such a part of who I became as a musician and my approach to life as a whole in trying to emulate what I found to be his highly refined, yet still extremely creative, unique and flexible sense of pragmatism that his loss still had a deep impact on me. So I can only imagine how it feels for the people who knew him, worked with him and learned from him. So my sincerest condolences to you and your friends and colleagues who knew him.
My mind is blown and dig that set up! Ha people don’t know you just opened the door to Sonic mayhem all that premo gear! Thank you too kind words Albini. I still get choked up thinking about him. The company my studio is at Analogr In LA is selling 4 MA5s and 2 sytek racks of 4. Ask for thomas @analogr IG or online and grab a few. Im loaded up but that’s the real special sauce.

Yes the AEA KU5 is my Best Buy . Pretty much used every where studio amazing results

How are you tracking the vocals with speakers and having such little bleed into the recording? Is it the tightness of the AEA KU5 ribbon mic or are you using phase cancellation? Thanks for sharing.
The KU5 is hyper cardioid, very little bleed.
@@JRockNY I was surprised by how the background music of the speakers didn't get on the solo'd vocal track. Wasn't sure if any other techniques were used or if it was just the KU5's tight pattern. I love the SM7 but the KU5 might be a nice step up for vocal recording.

How do you usually set the 1178 after the DBX on vox?
This one as it’s audio scape AS78 has a blend knob so I use 1/2 mixed in effect and dry .

My own band called The Chavez Ravine. Recorded 8 mics / 4 drums / bass DI/ 2 guitar mics / 1 58 vocals all live like most of our LP. Recorded on a Digi 003 with 8 pres.
@@mannysmiclocker That snare is excellent. Not monitoring with the NS10's I think? You using another pair plus a sub? Good work dude! *edit* the whole thing is great.
@@joshgeee5111 I use ns10s and that snare was mic’d w a mojave 100 small pencil tube mic discontinued.and I sold to a buddy when I sold my old studio sob Ha I need to get another now that you reminded me !
