It’s a momentous occasion, not only the 300th numbered RHLSTP, but the first one since March in front of an audience. We’re at the prestigious Bill Murray pub in North London. Richard sits stage right for the first time (except when he interviewed himself for a kickstarter extra) and is being interrogated by John Robins behind a perspex screen. But is it to save the audience from corona or the people on stage from the unguents that will doubtless be flung by the Die Hard fans in attendance (why have they come to this? Surely they should be watching a DVD of Bruce Willis). They chat about The Problem With Men, whether there are regrets about old material, the philosophy behind stone clearing, the Stewart Lee issue, skirting the line betwixt political correctness and comedy and playing with madness as we plummet towards old age and death. It’s the real Richard Herring, not the crazy character (mainly) and includes new Emergency Questions sent in by listeners: Time travel, desert island Johns and Robins, penises, Japanese porn and much more.
You can get an extra 30 minutes of chat by downloading the full show for just £8. All the money will go to Refuge. rhlstp.co.uk/300

I like that RUclips's subtitles call this "Rahul Slipper". Sounds like an interesting guy.
Dam I refreshed..and your right!!!😫😉
RAHUL SLIPPER
Bob Mortimer writes those subtitles
I thought of compiling a list of all the different subtitle versions of RHLSTP...motivation got the better of me
Love you Robbins without you and Ellis this year would have been unbearable thanks from the bottom of my heart
Agreed..they are so entertaining.
Finally I have made it to number 300! I have listened to every one , including all the bonus versions and the Edinburgh versions, thanks so much to Rich for all the content, and the badges I bought for related reasons :)
This is fab! Love listening to RH talk so much about himself. And John does a great job. Richard could have asked anyone to do this and he asked John. As you would.
Quite seriously, this could be five times as long and I wouldn't tire of it. "behind the mask" Richard is significantly more interesting than I expected the RHLSTP character Richard to be.
Andrew Denton is an Australian legend and Enough Rope was a pretty great show from way back.
I really enjoyed this one.. 😊👍
I hope Robins is on Taskmaster
He's bound to be eventually, he's friends with Alex Horne.
I hope Ally gets on. An all puppet Taskmaster.
I have great news for you! 😂
It's worth buying the book, if only to be able to look straight through people to view the horizon beyond.
Managed to misspell John’s surname in the closing credits twice!
I can't get over how consistently Chris Evans (not that one) manages to achieve this. It's actually quite impressive
An excellent excellent episode! Robins did a fantastic job and Richard, it was great to hear your answers.
John would be perfect for the role of Ally in the twitch of fun movie
I really really really want that Ally T-shirt but can’t find how to buy it, any ideas?
It was a kickstarter reward so not available. Chance some might get put on ebay, but that won't be cheap
I'm glad he brings up the bit towards the end of the first half of Someone Likes Yoghurt, I think that's the only thing he's ever done that made me feel a little bit uncomfortable. I think in terms of jokes though, that might still be my favourite.
6:05 “jovial errr” looooong lip lick “topics” 😂
Love this convo. Wish i’d been on the Herring bus early enough to know about this and subscribe to JRRHLSTPFBtM!
John and Rich make a great interview/conversation pair.
This is probably my 2nd favourite RHLSTP after the Brian Blessed one
Awwwwwwww this was ace :-) - plus John Robins really sounds like an English version of Ian 'Thorpedo' Thorpe xx
Are you doing none Skype interviews again now?
The funny thing about the Batman story is that the guy on the bench (Bill Finger) was the one more instrumental in Batman's success than Bob Kane. So basically Richard is the actual genius in this scenario.
“Oh, you know what John Robins is doing? He’s going for that anti-Bill Hicks dollar. That’s a good market. He’s very smart.”
Thank you.
Should've got Dr Buckles to do this
I wish I’d bought shares in Perspex.
Already watched this after downloading it and really enjoyed it but will watch this one again to see what the discrepancies are, like one of those spot the difference games in the old magazine books my Nana used to get me in the 80s
pedantic playtime, sounds like fun
Thanks Rich , for all your content over the years, I think you know that you’re well loved and respected and more importantly funny! ....if only you’d have got David Mitchell to do the interview!!
Loved the interview, it was good to see you talk about yourself because you were actually asked to, for once!
Robins would be amazing on Taskmaster, I think anyone who has seen his attitude on Bad Golf when he messes up is eager to see this happening...
Oh and alright, you got me, I will pay £8 to Refuge merely to see if John Robins asked you my emergency question (I just hope they don't spend it on drugs) (Edit: he didn't).
Who is this Richard Herring ??
I wish you got Sara Pascoe to do this... edit: he got better towards the end. Thank you for doing this, it's really inspirational when you talk about the process of creating. I think you might be a genius eh.
Lots of anti-John comments. I thought he was lovely.
Richard Herring is the next James Bond
Ahhh, but this is a proper interview! Next time maybe use a mirror?
Or Ally 😂
Ian Stoneclearer
Absolutely crap... I mean, wonderful! x
i don't know why the IAN thing makes me laugh so much i call everyone ian now
You released a book on November the 5th and didn't call it Ian Gunpowder. How disappointing.
The point that men would benefit from the dismantling of the patriarchy, is central to Sandra Lepzig Ben's The Lenses of Gender, which is 30 years old. This is a very important idea and would be emancipating for all, though is hardly new.
I don't think I was ever trying to take the credit for the idea (though I came to that conclusion on my own). But most men don't seem to have realised this in the last 30 years so it's worth reiterating.
@@Herring1967 I wasn't trying to infer that, sorry if that's how it came across and I entirely agree that it is worth reiterating. I greatly appreciate what you do in this respect, so again, sorry.
Only 5% different from any other RHLSTP (rhlstp).
Who does Richard name as the funniest person? Christine... who? I tried to hear it out five times...
Christina Martin
I downloaded this one early for charity, but upon re-watching, it really makes me appreciate Richard as an interviewer. Robins was fine, but way too long-winded and self-involved.
Yeah... I was looking forward to this until I saw it was going to be John Robins. Now bumped to the bottom of my "will probably listen to one day" RHLSTP queue.
@@scottishwildcat Oh no!
...
Anyway...
I went to school with John Robins and Joel Dommett. Obviously they're both extremely jealous of my success with my shitty RUclips channel which nobody watches.
Robins: "Bill Hicks is rubbish!"
What next - "Noam Chomsky is an idiot."
It's not that making money or being successful is wrong per se but rather that using your talent to promote crisps or mobile phone networks or whatever, not only debases the art form but lends anything else you do the whiff of suspicion that you're just saying something to be a marketable product.
Bill Hicks is Rubbish, Chomsky is beyond reproach.
Stewart Lee has let himself go
Oh John. Have you even listened to an episode of RHLSTP? The serious stuff comes in the middle or towards the end, never ever at the beginning. Hard work listening to this. Buxton would've been great. Oh well, maybe on the 400th, eh?
It's just like a regular RHLSTP but with all the heart, humour, flow and personality ripped out of it.
I may be reevaluating my comment the more I watch.
Harsh. I like John Robins.
That’s not nice ☹️

Nah, I beat you. Mine was 1 minute ago. Yours is 27 seconds.
😜..Narr my fine friend..I said First-first and I shall be for all time..shotgun rules😉☠🥕
I've always wondered if Richard might be autistic. I think the obsessiveness has always drawn me in. Maybe a different neurodiversity? Either way, I really enjoyed this interview and unlike many commenters I thought John Robins did a great job.
John Robins you will never be as good as Bill Hicks.
12 minutes in listening to critical race theory by qualified psychologists.... Unlike the character that is Stewart Lee, no irony....
If it was anyone other than John Robins, I'd probably watch this.
Oh patriarchy my ass. Yawn. Grow up. Everything is predicated on competence.
John Robbins.. That was a terrible interview. The questions lacked rhythm and really made Richard work hard. Was really looking forward to this and then felt like it could have been so much better if anyone else was doing it. Despite that, the book still sounds great and I'll buy it.
Not funny (the host's fault), and the audio was shit. So glad I didn't pay to watch it early. Please bring back the usual host.
The interviewer is appalling but nothing compared to the weakness of the guest.
Too much lip smacking noise from John robins 10 mins was my limit sorry , 😳🤨😡
Ugh, John Robins. I'll skip, thanks.
