      Greg, I've not been able to find/retrieve from my archives the info you requested (I generally purge most things after a certain period for space conservation). However, I did come across another video where the host (certified instructor Paul Markel) read directly from the same source, America's First Freedom, regarding this final police report, which basically says the same as my previous video.
      Markel's video is on STUDENT OF THE GUN channel and titled as "What is combat accuracy?". The convo begins at 59:45. I hope this helps you in some way, my friend 👍.

    I carry a Bersa Thunder 380 Plus and a Beretta TomCat .32 because I haven't found a hammer fired 9mm that's as small and light. FAFO. Love your take on the 'Dicken's Koolade'. What clothing does the f.b.i. use in gel tests?? Any idea what is a common 9mm rd carried by the f.b.i. ?? RockOn.StayFree.

      The latest choice in 9mm for the FBI is Hornady Critical Duty, 135 grain +P. Of course, they seem to change ammo selection fairly frequently.
      For the heavy clothing barrier, they use one layer of cotton T-shirt material (5.25 oz per yard), one layer of cotton shirt material (3.5 oz per yard, 80 threads per inch), one layer of Malden Mills Polartec 200 fleece, and one layer of cotton denim (14.4 oz per yard, 50 threads per inch).

    I agree with your assessment, as I've said before that most of the time, I do carry a pocket 9mm. But as I've said before, that there are times where I pocket carry a .380 lcp, an believe me, I don't like it or enjoy carrying it. But its better than a sharp stick, but with all the other crap that we carry in our pockets, like wallet, phone, keys, knife, pocket flashlight, an a gun + spare magazine, theres only so much real-estate available. Always in search of better ammo an weapon for this caliber, an maybe, just maybe their will one day be some magic pill ammo available in this caliber, IMHO. Thx for the vid Antonius

    Interview, with Dicken's lawyer, he says that Dickens first fired 4 braced shots, missing 2 at 40 yards, then changed positions, moving forward 20 yards and changing angles, firing 4 more shots that hit, then closed within 20-25 feet, firing 2 more landed shots. and So, yes. The Dicken's Drills all came out just after it happened, and no one has done these drills based on new information. The 15 seconds, was 15 seconds that it took Dicken to react, from the first time he heard gunfire, when the shooter came out of the bathroom, to the first shot that Dicken took.

    The one question I have for you is your statement 9mm barely adequate. I think I would disagree with you on that. I can unload a 17 mag with much deadlier accuracy in a shorter time than say a 10mm or greater plus a lot easier to EDC.

    • @shootinitstraight4162
      @shootinitstraight4162  Год назад

      @Toddm
      Yes, you could probably do that on a range, but most of those 17 rounds will likely miss the target in an actual deadly force confrontation. And what if you only had the chance to fire 1 or 2 rounds? Is that enough? We see in the Dickens Mall incident that it took 8 hits to neutralize the bad guy.

      @@shootinitstraight4162Well, in my case I don’t practice much at the static range in the last year. Instead I and a group of others go to at least three nightly COF’s each week forward of the line. Running drills such as CQE, moving targets, shooting while moving, plate racks, spinning stars, barricades, etc…other times upstairs shoothouse in lowlight no light conditions with non-lethal weapons doing room clearing scenarios. I’ve had my heart rate racing often in these conditions to simulate stress but I’ll say all of this still doesn’t emulate real-world conditions. Still, I feel better with this training that I will hit the “switch” within the first mag and if not I have another always with me. My point being…for those out there… don’t think static shooting is all you need. Find a range that offers Course of Fire events and take them.

      That was perfectly stated, sir. Yes, by all means try to practice outside the static range routine. This is the best way to improve your chances, and no, the stress of your practice is nothing compared to the stress of a real deadly force situation, but the benefit is that it WILL help you to manage the higher stress encountered in a true lethal incident. Keep up your practices! 👍

    I never knew that about the GreenWood Park mall shooting! As far as caliber trends,the one that drove me really nuts is where someone would argue 22 as a viable defensive round! I'd listen to them argue velocity & ft/lbs of energy,barrel lengths,gun types,blah,blah,blah & they just didn't get it! It's a rimfire,so good luck w/reliable ignition! Ballistic gel? Yeah I knew it had to be calibrated to be valid but I assumed it was,well you know what happens when you assume!

      @shootinitstraight4162  Год назад +1

      @james riggs
      Yeah, you're right on the money regarding the .22 for a defensive round. With the ballistic gel, tests have shown that most are NOT properly calibrated at the factory, despite have a "certified calibrated" card with it. I just wish YT channels using the gel blocks understood that and start doing their own calibration testing on camera.

    I was wondering if you can make a video over people that have CCW permits all these people in my state Are getting CCW permits and they’re all buying 3 inch MP shields 9mm 7+1 or 9+1 in my state california and their thinking that if there is ever a active shooter with a rifle they can engage with them try to be hero’s I feel people need to understand the power of a rifle ar 15 and a criminal who does not follow the law and can have a fully automatic rifle and high-capacity magazines. I feel in this case you are better off running instead of trying to be a hero and engage a gun fight with an active shooter. That can have a fully automatic rifle and high-capacity magazines. Criminals don’t follow the law I feel in this case you are better off running instead of trying to be a hero but it seems some people don’t understand the danger difference of a rifle and a hand gun and think they can engage a gun fight with an active shooter.

      I could possibly work that conversation into one of my future vids, because it's an important point to make. You're correct, not all situations are the same, and different people have different skill levels. You have to know your own skills and limitations. Sometimes, in some situations, the best action to take is to simply be a good witness for the cops. It all depends on the situation and your skill level more than anything else.

    Are you getting a Hi-Point Yeet Cannon?

  • @Paladin1873
    @Paladin1873 Год назад +1

    Why the sudden interest in 380? I can think of a few plausible reasons. First is the cost of revolvers and their limited capacity. Second is the population charts which show a ballooning of senior citizens as the massive Boomer generation continues to age. Then there is the relatively smaller younger generation of man-bun soy boys who are now entering their formative years and the single women who dare not rely on them for protection. Add to this the improvements in pistol caliber ballistics (on paper) which try to convince everyone that the 9mm is the new 45 and the 380 is the new 9mm. I won't be surprised if the next hot defensive caliber is the 32 ACP. It worked for James Bond, right?
    Regarding the Dickens shooting, I rarely teach or practice handgun accuracy beyond 25 yards. I consider what he did to be an anomaly (like shark attacks and lightning strikes). I would never discourage anyone from practicing such drills out to 50 yards, but I would not make it the centerpiece of any defensive training.
    As for ammo fires, my concern about storing munitions in a metal container is the possibility it may turn the container into a large fragmentation grenade. You may recall that in the 1970s the ATF ordered all black powder dealers to build large steel storage boxes for their powder. A friend of mine shook his head in disbelief and constructed one, only to be told later by ATF to modify the lid with counterweights in back so if the powder blew, the expanding gas would take the path of least resistance and shoot upwards. One ponders what these geniuses will think up next.
    Speaking of which, did you hear about the massive armed IRS/ATF raid on a popular gun shop and shooting range in Great Falls, MT this week? I know at least one customer who frequents the place and he is baffled by it. Shades of Ruby Ridge and Waco, here we go again.

    • @shootinitstraight4162
      @shootinitstraight4162  Год назад

      @Colonel K
      Yes, I've heard about the IRS/ATF raid, but have yet to really examine it. And as I stated in the video, people with strength issues (senior citizens) may want to go with the lower recoil of the .380. But even with current ballistic improvements, the .380 is still substandard as a primary defensive handgun. And certainly I agree with your correct assessment of training regarding the distance shooting drills. I don't DISCOURAGE them either, but I wouldn't make it a priority. On the ammo can storage, well I'm not sure of the chances of all cartridges exploding at the exact same time, but who knows. Kinda like popcorn, I suppose (?) 😶😃 All very good points, sir 👍

    Does the layperson get any real world value from watching a gel test video?
    Would the average person be at a level of combat shooting proficiency that the load combination used is the deciding factor in a defense situation, rather than actual shot placement?
    (The shots in the spine box stopped the threat, as opposed to "shots with X ammo" stopped the threat.)
    RUclips gel test videos are nothing more than visual material for mental m@sturbat...., imo.

    • @shootinitstraight4162
      @shootinitstraight4162  13 дней назад +1

      @tudyk21
      In my opinion, gel tests are very useful IF they are conducted properly. A proper test can help determine if the selected load can be expected to perform reliably in personal defense, such as adequate penetration and expansion.
      Proficiency in accuracy is generally hits to the upper torso or pelvic region in a combat situation, since an intentional CNS hit, while always preferable, is very unlikely in such a stressful, sudden event, at least in my personal experience.
      I agree that most RUclips gel tests are not useful, simply because they are not usually done to FBI protocol, which then skews the results.
