Oil Specifications
When servicing the AC system without replacing the compressor you should drain the oil from the compressor. If less than 70cc add 70cc back, or if more than 70cc add back the same amount drained.
When servicing the AC system and replacing the compressor and drier for this vehicle, specifications call for 140-160cc.
**Compressors that come oil filled are adequate as per manufacturer, but receiver/drier most also be replaced.
One of the best car repair videos on RUclips. Straightforward and easy to follow, but not too in depth and slow.
GuiryGuitar thanks so much for the kind words, 🙏🙏🤟🤟🤟
i wish i could find a mechanic like you. this video helped a lot, thank you.
Thanks! Your video helped me replace the compressor, condenser, and expansion valve on my 2002 Santa Fe.
thank you
Sir you have the patients of Jobe. Great video very articulate Thank you
thank you, I think most technicians must have lots of patience or they may end up smashing the car up with one of the many hammers we have, lol
Thanks. Your video actually helped me replace the compressor and receiver dryer on my Audi TT.
awesome!!! thanks for watching and commenting.
My power steering pump just ran out and I wasn't sure how to take off the drive belt in order to go ahead and take off the broken steering pump. Your video really help me to feel confident to do it by myself. Tips: used mechanic gloves, they will help you to handle things comfortable. An Impact drivers will save you a lot of time taking off nuts and screws. Cheers!
excellent, thanks for watching!!
Now I know why I am being quoted such a high price for the install! That is a ton of work and it all has to be put together correctly again. It is not only hugely time consuming but clearly involves some physical acrobatics to pull it all apart. Thank you!

That is why service manual indicates to replace all other parts first before replacing the dryer, I don't remove condenser from car, I remove front bumper for access to dryer. I leave vacuum pump on based on capacity of system to remove moisture from system before replacing dryer too, I'm in a high humidity region.
Ey hello , I have a question for you or anybody here: how I know the level of the compressor oil? Because I need replace the receiver dry and the manual say if I replace this part I need put 2 onz of compressor oil to the system. if the system have already oil how I know how much oil need . Thanks
working on our Kia Sedona now. has rear a/c two expansion valves , the rear valve was fun to get to. have to remove interior panels & it sits under the blower housing. the front on the firewall tight place for tools. I've done the a/c on our Honda , all o-rings oiled, dryer, new condenser & compressor. it turned out nice blowing 40 degrees. nice vid, good info. thumbs up
Be advised, with some of these (mostly Kia and Hyundai) the mounting bolts holding the compressor will snap. Don't freak out, it's not broken out in the block, there's a mount. And most of the new kits come with a new mount and bolts. But make sure by contacting them, they all use the pictures of kits....not all include everything in the picture. I got my kit from partsgeek and it included everything,
The compressor on our 2004 Trajet siezed and so it was bypassed with a short belt.
The cost of fitting a new compressor was more than the car was worth!
He's adding the oil to the suction side. You can use that or the drain plug. If you don't know how much oil you need, go by the sticker under the hood. Also drain the old oil out and see if there's metal flakes. If there is you need to replace everything or the new compressor will get contaminated and fail. Always put a little PAG oil on your finger and wet the new o rings. Do your homework, A/C is not always easy.
No oil drain plug on that type of compressor. Drain/fill plug is there only in compressors equipped with either an isolated crankcase or an oil sump.
Good video. You the real MVP.
Congratulation. This video really helps. Thanks a lot!
thank you, thanks for watching!!
What engine is in this Santa Fe?
when would you flush the ac system? as reading and watching other videos says you should do it to clean out the lines, but your video did not show you performing any flushing. thanks!
Thanks for u from Iraq
Awesome job, very informative.....I need a lift 😞
Thank you Sir.God bless.:-)
no thank you!!
I did try to order this ac kit
and motor blower
none of these parts
are stocked
not available.
does the amount of oil inside the compressor cover the entire system meaning that each part of the system takes a certain quantity of oil.thanks
Good question, how much we need to add from de manometer or inyection? How is better?
if the compressor you guys are was jammed make sure you clean the entire system because all kinds of debris and metal pieces will flow to the condenser, hoses, etc so as soon you install the new one will collect all that back and will fail again..
Now I see why it cost 💲 so much. This guy did a great job.
I bought a new compressor UAC part # CO29002C , it say that contains 8oz of oil and need to add more for vehicles equipped with rear AC , my question is how much more ? I Cant find the service manual thanks
check hyundai forums .
They have all specifics on website.
If they don't a hyundai dealer mechanic will answer for you.
Excelente video thanks 👍
if i ONLY need to replace ac compressor, do I need to remove radiator, condensor, and all that stuff?
why are you changing the oil of the new compressor?
do you have a video for removing the power steering high pressure line ? Thanks
Do I have to change the expansion valve when changing a new compressor?
Hello, I don't know what you mean by CC. How many ounces is 150CC? Thanks!
very good thank you
APDTY, I went to Amazon to purchase the pigtail for our 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe. Even though your description states that ti will fit a 2001 - 2006 Santa Fe Amazon keeps telling me that it will not fit my 2004 Santa Fe. Is there any way that I can contact you direct?
ok if you have a 2004, it will definitely fit as all the 2004 models used the same 1 wire connector, So this does fit 100% on your model, we will update the amazon chart as I am looking at it also and it is missing a bunch of models that this wire fits.
I have a 2013 scion tc how much oz of oil I put in the condenser? I'm planning on replacing my ac condenser. Thanks
so this would depend on how or what process the work is being done. Also technicians have their own technique with adding oil as it can be done several ways. Technically most all the oil is removed when the refrigerant is evacuated from the system which must be done before removing any parts. You should also be replacing the expansion valve and receiver dryer anytime you open up the system. Once the condenser, expansion valve & dryer are replaced, then you recharge the system and most all shops will add oil while they are adding refrigerant. This is done with a machine that lets the oil flow into the system with new or recycled refrigerant. You can add a small amount to the condenser but the refrigerant ends up mixing with the oil as it circulates through the system.
@@APDTY I'm putting in a new condenser
Hello,I went to a mechanic and he qoted me $1200 to replace all, does that sound right.Im in Texas and I need AC not for me but for my children. Thanks for any info.Subbed and scribed,God bless. :)
Depends on what you mean by "replace all." There are many components to an AC system, the radiator, the fan, the compressor, etc... Each job take a certain amount of time to do and the longer the job the more expensive it will be.
no $900 max
+Robert Strayhorn Thank you Sir.I just bought a new compressor off EBAY for $142 and an auto shop is charging me $150 to install and recharge.Thank you all for your help.Texas and no air,no bueno.:-)
+Luke Pate Yes! Texan here. Just got my compressor in too, doing it all myself. helping my friend who got quoted for $900, ridiculous!
I hope to be chilling very soon, good luck to you !
Surely it depends on the vehicle. Some compressors are hard to get at
What size is the screw of the tensioner?
whats the torque settings on the compressor?
do you only fill one size I belive is the low pression line correct. ....?..
el camarografo de mv correct
any videos on how to put the belts????
Putting a belt on normally requires two things. First, you need to make sure you have the right belt size. Second, you need to make sure your belt has the proper things to fit on. If you're missing one of the things the belt goes on, your belt might not sit right. Also, you might not even need belts if other components are properly sized.
Anyways, try this:
Step 1: Put pants on. Ensure they're pulled to the proper height.
Step 2: Fasten pants fastener.
Step 3: Feed belt through loops on pants.
Step 4: Attach clasp.
what brand of compressor oil are you using?
Brand isn't important as long as it's double end capped PAG 46 oil (OEM spec).
How crucial is the vacuum pump step? I do not have one.
Vacuuming down the system is a very important step for the overall performance, by removing the moisture from the system.
Always a hater in this case so far 40 idiots. Great job. I have a Santa fe almost every it's a pain to get to. Except the oil filter. Bless.
thank yo for watching and commenting, we appreciate it!!
@@APDTY no prob.
I would like to see a video on the best way of getting to the three rear spark plugs on a Santa Fe.just bought mine not to long ago from the looks of it I have to remove the intake. Thanks for the video sir .
Right after my purchase frim APDTY my card was hacked. I made no other purchases on that card!
I have the same car I change the ac compressor and everything but the clutch doesn't work so I don't know what else I can do can you guys help me?
+Laura luque Next step would be to check to see if the compressor clutch is getting power. The A/C clutch power comes from a A/C fuse and relay in the underhood fuse box.
thank for your answer
i check all that and everything has power but the a/c switch doesn't send the power to the clutch
+Laura luque In the same underhood fuse/relay box there is also a 'engine control relay'. This relay is controlled by the pcm. The engine control relay feeds the power to the a/c relay control side. The control side of the a/c relay is grounded by the pcm. There is also a a/c diode in the underhood fuse box to check
could also be the coolant level not high enoguh? but if she has power at the clutch then maybe thats not the issue
sir exactly how many add refrigeration oil in a compressor
Sir please tell me your compressor
oil name
This compressor uses PAG 46 oil.
i did not see you put oil in the condenser
You did wrong
when would you flush the ac system? as reading and watching other videos says you should do it to clean out the lines, but your video did not show you performing any flushing. thanks!
