Before you hit the net I knew you as one of the greatest Bassists on the planet. Now I know you as one of the greatest humans. Godspeed to you and Maureen...
Lee, so sorry to hear about Maureen and the accident. Sending healing prayers up for her and you and . Holding you both in much love and light. Keep us posted on her progress! Traveling mercies for you both! My friend!
Of course we all respect that Maureen is your only priority. That is unquestioned and of course applauded. Care for her, nothing else matters. We will be here for you when it is time. Much love.
All my best to you and Maureen! Keck is a good hospital, I have family currently getting great care there 2 more weeks. Hoping for smooth flights home with as much comfort as possible! Will keep you both in my thoughts and prayers 🌻
It is so horrible to hear about this accident. It is even worse when you are on vacation and away from home. My heart goes out to you and your wife. Your trip had been such a joyful adventure that you have generously shared with all of us. We now hope for the best for your family for a safe trip home and speedy record for Maureen.
Pretty scary to have an accident in another country! I am sure it's a comfort to Maureen to have a caring, capable partner to bring her home safely. Cheers and best wishes.
Hi Lee & Maureen. Thanks for the update on the situation in Spain. I know I'm not alone in sending my very best wishes for Maureen and yourself. I really hope that Maureen's pain eases very quickly and that you both get home safely and smoothly as soon as possible. Praying for you both. 💗
So, so sorry that your wonderful trip became, as you said, this nightmare. Sending Maureen and you all my best hopes for complete and swift recovery. Maureen can ask for no stronger man than you to lean on getting through this. Love you and Thanks❤️🙏❤🙏
Leland , I so much wish someone in the industry would send a jet for you and Maureen. !! not sure about US to Spain and back but at least from NC To Cali ? big time healing thoughts and prayers and much love for you both on this difficult and stressful journey home and for a speedy recovery. I KNOW first hand what back and neck injuries are like . not fun !! blessings for you both !
Sending healing prayers. Praying that the plane ride isn't too agonizing. So glad you are getting to a university level hospital. She will get the best care there. Looking at all these well wishers show you are really loved!
Praying for Maureen and you Leland. The trip back will be a challenge, but you two will overcome the difficulties. All the wheelchair planning etc. sounds very well thought out. Stay strong.
The nightmare of injury away from home. Sounds like you have a fantastic plan for getting home and care. Just a tip get PT/OT referral to help Maureen manage things as she recovers and rebuilds her strength. Keeping you both in my daily intentions.
I'm on my way to Vegas! To see Jackson Browne two nights! Again ! Best wishes to Maureen! I know when your back home that will make a big difference! 😌💙
Good Luck and best wishes for a safe travel and return. So sorry for your troubles abroad. This sounds absolutely horrific situation to have to go through.
So sorry to learn about Maureen's accident. Love and best wishes for a safe journey and a quick recovery. Hang in there. This too shall pass, but remember, when you are going through hell, just keep on going. Salute & Peace.
Every thought & hope I have are with you & Maureen. Unbelievable. Thank you for taking time from your doubtless harried experience to update us. Keeping you & Maureen in all 'our' positive energy, in hopes that your trip home is pain-free & uneventful. 🙏 Take care of yourselves. All of us who follow your vlog will be here when the opportunity is right for you. ♡
I read a couple of days ago that vibration (like TENS) plus cold helps lessen the pain. Pain from disc injury is some of the worst! Prayers to Maureen for ease and a speedy return to home territory. 💚🙏
Incredible story! What lousy luck! Wishing you both a speedy return and a rapid recovery from her injury. I’ve done work @ USC/KECK and they are excellent so Maureen should be in good hands. Safe travels to you both! 🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀
Thanks, so much, for the update. This is our biggest concern while traveling, that we’d end up needing medical care in a foreign country. Maureen is fortunate to have you to care and advocate for her as you travel back home. Here’s hoping the journey is uneventful and any additional treatment is successful. Sending continued healing vibes Maureen’s way.
What a nightmare. Glad you are both pulling through. Thanks for sharing. I’m an American living in spain now for 6 years and can attest to big difference in handing out pain meds in the hospitals here vs the US.
I live in the UK and my wife is American. I am astonished by her apparent need for medication for the slightest thing! It's clearly a cultural thing (rather than a medical need) which, frankly, makes me look down on her as being weak. Us Brits just deal with it rather than go crying to the doctor for help. Same with dentistry: I had a tooth extraction recently; there is no notion of any pain relief after the procedure and tooth pain is some of the worst I have ever experienced. Pain is annoying and unpleasant, neither of which is a medical condition requiring treatment though! (Not disparaging Maureen's condition here in any way, I've had disk prolapse and sciatica and know how debilitating that is. I didn't even think of asking for pain meds for it though...). Wishing her well.
Leland, wishing you and Maureen all the best. There is nothing worse than being away from home when you are injured like this and it makes you appreciate living in the United States. Wishing Maureen the best trip home possible and hoping that she finds relief from her pain soon. Take care and keep us updated if you can.
Much love to you both, Lee! I didn't know about poor Maureen! I hope she has as peaceful a journey home, as is possible! You're a lovely guy and you're getting all those positive vibes, which you always send out. My mum is back in hospital and I remember how kind you, and everyone on here was. Pay it forward, I say! (mum should be out today). Get well soon, Maureen and stay strong, brother Lee! xx
Best wishes and prayers for both of you. My wife suffered collapsed vertebrae back in 2000. Luckily, our little city had an excellent back surgeon who saved her from a very bleak outcome. However, she has been in pain of various intensities for the last 23 years, so we can sympathize. Best of luck for the trip home.
Leland I am very sorry to hear this terrible news. I hope that Maureen recovers quickly from these injuries. You both deserved a great vacation and thanks very much for sharing it with us.
I had no idea. I am so sorry. And worried. As someone who knows in generalities - this is a bad injury and the surgery/ies are pretty brutal. I am sure you simply need to take one step at a time. Just get her home safely. And then take one step at a time. Is her pain managed now? So glad you have each other. I’m sad your much deserved and needed vacation turned into a disaster. And I’m sure you’ll have legal issues to deal with which will be made harder given it’s out of the country. Sending you both nothing but peace and care and well wishes. One step at a time. Will be thinking of you both this weekend as you make your way home. ☮️
Hi Leland I'm a long time silent follower, long time fan too , just sending all the best energies back to you from all the music you've given us so you both can overcome this tough moment. Hugs from Chile. 🙌✊❤
Mr. Sklar , My prayers go out for Maureen and you , so sorry to hear that this happened . As someone with back issues and constant pain I have full empathy for Maureen (the fact that in pain she remembered to thank folks for being concerned shows she is a good woman) as someone who is caring for my 86 year old mother who can be difficult , I have fuil empathy for you sir . I pray and will be praying that the flight is the smoothest one ever , that the landing is so soft and gentle and that with gods speed both of you will return home safe , and ready to heal . I could suggest something to help a bit with the pain , you can guess what that is by my profile picture , but this is not the time for me to suggest anything , just to say I wish you both the best and you have my energies to help you both heal . Love you both .
So sorry to hear about Maureen's accident. I can't imagine having to sit through a long flight in that much pain. Hope it's bearable for her (and you). Take care
I’m glad you’re heading home and that you have proper medical care lined up! I hope that flights back will not be too problematic for Maureen and that the pain will be manageable until she can get to see her doctors here. Be well, the both of you.
Hi Lee, We are so so sorry to hear the sad news about Maureen. What a shame that a playful, fun moment could end so catastrophically. You and Maureen are in our thoughts, and we wish all the best for her recovery. All our best, Jim and Betsy Walker
Leland, sending my best to you and Maureen. So sorry you two have to go through this. Dolor is not a word you want to meet to know while in Spain. Take care please.
Thanks for the update, Lee. Sending as much positive energy and love as possible for Maureen and you. My wife and I have a friend who suffered the same fate many years ago on a rope swing hanging from the branch of an old tree. The branch broke and the accident was devastating, resulting in paralysis of his legs. He soldiered on and gets around pretty well these days with leg braces and canes. Hopefully Maureen will have a full recovery, as you have indicated in the video. Please continue to keep us informed when you get back home, as much as your time and energy will allow. Peace.
Leland, I know exactly what Maureen's going through. 6 years ago, I had a slip and fall (ice in the parking lot) at work. I ended up fracturing my D12 and tailbone in the process. I landed on my rear end, which compressed my spine, causing the fractures. I was out for a month, before having to do physical therapy to gain back muscles and nerves. I also had the I.V. drip and Norcos (hydrocodone plus acetaminophen) for pain relief. Luckily, my arms and legs worked fine, but get up from sitting and laying down were not fun. A heating pad worked wonders, too, during the healing time. I hope she gets well soon.
We care because of the open heart you show us. Even though it is through this platform, we feel we know you after years on RUclips, (not to mention years and years of your music). Please be strong and get well to Maureen. Kind regards from Scott Rowland in Texas
My heart goes out to Maureen and you...I pray she has a speedy recovery with pain relief.
