Super cool! I too owned a few mills which enabled me to buy my FTV-2 Lagun mill. I bought my Lagun when I was 19. I was still living with my parents, so I was able to dump all of my money into tools/machines. I'm trying to start my own RUclips channel, but limited on time with college. I am super happy to have stumbled across your page. Subscribed! Keep them coming!
Enjoyed seeing your problem-solving. Way beyond my machinery skills, but RUclips videos have helped me fix almost every appliance in the house needing small repairs.
Hope you find that long table useful I used to leave a dividing head on the bed (I used it a lot) along with my vice so I didn’t-need to keep swapping. I had a nice DRO that allowed multiple Datums so I could interrupt one job and jump on another. Power drawbar great I had the riser and had to still climb on a box!
Love seeing the progress, I was intrigued by the power draw bar and this really helped me understand it better. So, i guess the way the air impact drops down is similar to a bendix on a starter motor engaging and disengaging a flywheel on an engine.
Nice job! I love seeing what could have been an expensive fix turn out to be relatively easy and inexpensive. That's a lot of milling machine for $2k. Now, get busy making new videos showing that bad boy in action!
I was really cheering you on as you succeeded in getting it working again. It's such a great feeling to work through a problem and be triumphant in the end. I am curious why you didn't disassemble more (drop the quill out) to be absolutely sure there were no pieces of the quill guard left behind. Have you done anything with the Supermax head you picked up from me? And I haven't seen that surface grinder you picked up in Bohemia a couple of years ago.
Thanks Paul! I was going to drop the quill but i think I got it all (famous last words) the supermax head it coming into play soon!! And I wound up selling that surface grinder and getting another one that’s stashed away!
What a beast! Really enjoyed watching your handiwork even if you did add fuel for my milling machine desires, which I am trying to keep in check..."and like any good air tool, it leaks!" 😂
Thanks! Im a bit puzzled by that as well, Ive heard of other machines having quill skirt issues but this one was pretty extreme, the tolerance in there is pretty tight so I think once you start mushing that sheet metal in there its all downhill!
You can raise the table pretty high and since 99% of the milling I do is in a vise it shouldn’t be an issue. If it is to far I have a smaller Bridgeport I can use
Dr. Watson: Holmes, you have solved another Moriarty attempt at disaster... Sherlock Holmes: Elementary my dear Watson, simply elementary. Conclusion...the machine, that fixes the machine!!!
The Bridgeport process is exactly the same actually, remove the nose cone, take out the lock screw, adjust the key and reverse. The only difference is that the nose cone is right hand thread.
Yeah you def need the power draw bar after adding the 7" riser....I have a 10x50 VS Acra mill, and it's up 3.5" off the floor, with no riser, and I'm 5'11" and gotta go tip toes to undo the draw bar lol
Seriously! This thing was super tall as is and as soon as I saw that power drawbar I knew I had to take advantage and add a riser. Now that I have it I feel like my Bridgeport needs one too! Its such a great upgrade!
What a Score Bro!!! You did really well on this purchase. You took a gamble and it really payed off! You seriously hit the jackpot lol. Thanks for sharing bro take care and hope you have a wonderful day. P.s. ill give you 5,000 cash come on! its a good deal you'll still make a profit lmao haha😂😂😂 jk. Enjoy Your early Christmas present its a Beautiful machine!
You were extremely lucky that it was a relatively easy fix, most of the stuff I buy like that usually turns out to be terminally expensive.
Every now and then you take a chance and it works out just right!
Congrats on your endgame mill! $2000 is a good price for a feature rich machine like that.

Glad to see the fix was not too expensive or super difficult. Really nice mill. I enjoyed the adventure with you.
ALRIGHT! You got big boys' tools!

I never tire of Ur intro, one of the best
Great looking machine Chris, happy they were relatively easy fixes.
I TRULY AM GLAD YOU HAVE WHAT YOU WANT AND KEEP GETTING "STUFF"....... NOW MAKE A COOL INVENTION!
Nice video, great job at capturing the steps. Mill looks super useful. Mahalo for sharing! : )
Thanks for watching!
@@MakeEverything 👍
Big upgrade to a already well fitted shop.

That looked like a lot of work but it sure looked like it was worth it awesome job as usual Chris 👊🏽,
Awesome find, and awesome repairs! Loving these videos.
awesome man thanks for the video! i just got one like this that i need to fix a few stuff
How is the house/property project you purchased sometime back? Would like to see the progress. You are a hard working young man.
I’m going to post an update very soon! Thank you so much for following along!
Ok mestre .

Love your channel, love your videos, the music is a no go though. I much rather prefer the natural sounds of your older videos.
Was that a machinist terminology when you trip backwards ?🤣😂... Great job my friend ,I knew you could do it ! Happy for you Chris .
That’s right! Thanks!
You should indicate that quill. I'm curious about the runout if there's any play inside and outside.

Thanks for watching! Get hunting for a mill!
Excellent repair; quite the steal! Any idea what mangled the skirt in the first place, and that it won’t happen again?
Thanks! Im a bit puzzled by that as well, Ive heard of other machines having quill skirt issues but this one was pretty extreme, the tolerance in there is pretty tight so I think once you start mushing that sheet metal in there its all downhill!
@@MakeEverything so somehow they put too much lateral load on the quill, got things slightly cocked, hit the skirt and mangled it?
high power tool crash???
I have the same mill.
Hey Chris
Have you ever successfully glued 2 x 72" sanding belts ?
I have about 50 that the glue dried up on
I’ve never tried it but I don’t see why it wouldn’t work with some contact cement
Great work. Are there updates coming about the future property?
Thanks! Yes! I’m headed up there soon to cut some trees and show my plans!
How does that spacer block work, doesn't it make it harder to get the tool down to the table? Or can you raise the table?
You can raise the table pretty high and since 99% of the milling I do is in a vise it shouldn’t be an issue. If it is to far I have a smaller Bridgeport I can use
Awesome
Show de bola
Are you able to mount a sloter on the rear of the sliding arm?
Dr. Watson: Holmes, you have solved another Moriarty attempt at disaster...
Sherlock Holmes: Elementary my dear Watson, simply elementary.
Conclusion...the machine, that fixes the machine!!!
Isn’t the Bridgeport a lot more involved to replace the key for the r8 collet?
The Bridgeport process is exactly the same actually, remove the nose cone, take out the lock screw, adjust the key and reverse. The only difference is that the nose cone is right hand thread.
Damn skirts
Can’t live with em, can’t live without em

It is JET. The end....
15:00 - ...is that a toilet brush on your drill??
Why would you put that machine back together without cleaning out all of the metal shavings?!?!? 🤦♂️
Some people just want to watch the world burn
Did you consider just leaving out the key
Power feed in 3 directions lol
Jealous
kimberzelik@youtube
Very cheap! Please fix the key in the intended way
Which key are you referring to?
Major score.
