You're such a "Lor-mantic!" 😆 Another great video as always - So lovely to see you and your family all enjoying themselves and their diverse choices (I still need to learn all the different varieties so this video was really helpful 👍). Isaac's excited face when he revealed his choice was heartwarming (until he got it all over himself like kids do! 🤣). The lor mee looked great, too - Thanks for sharing your recipe.
Hehehe thank you... Actually I have wanted to go to Bee Hooi to shoot a video about the Lor Mee there for awhile but it is always so crowded and busy! The kids love roti for breakfast, it is not too heavy for the mornings.
Thanks for sharing a part of your life with the family in each video. I have watched all your videos on your channel. It's delightful to see how your children have grown through the years. Especially your second daughter and occasionally Issac making their funny faces 😂😂😂. Children are so innocent and pure 👌👍. Looking forward to your next video. 👍
I made this for about 12 bowls of noodles, my parents and some friends came to eat also. Anything less than 10 it is just better to go out and order lah I guess. But lor mee is just a matter of long braising/ stewing. Other than that it is not as complicated as Hokkien mee or curry mee.
a cooking tip I find useful .... any peices of spices that you don't eat such as clove, cinnamon, star anise etc I usually put in one of those tea bags from Daiso that way after food is cooked I just take out the bag and no need to pick out while eating.
Haha....u don't kena mala when Isaac got his own plate, u kena cuci baju instead. Kids will sometimes make a bit of a mess but guess that's pretty normal - esp when they eat things like ice cream. Aiyaaa.... the market would have been a great opportunity for BM & Hokkien class 😂😂😂. Another lovely cooking video Bro. Homecooked always the best...
Bro, I just have 2 humble comments. (1) Your videos are great - so down to earth, not commercialized like 95 percent of food blogs out there & most of all, a real insight into a family that's taking life as it is. Happy and in harmony with each other. Kudos to you for this aspect. That's the reason why I keep following. (2) Without prejudice, I have to say that you are definitely not a good cooking host. You can cook home style food on one point but definitely, not conducive to teaching viewers how to cook. The interrupted cooking instructions and jumping sequence and forgetting to add what to put into the dish - it's going to make a mess for any beginner aspiring cook at home. Sorry for the bluntness but you really should stay with introducing foods, not cooking. Sharing recipes are fine but not the haphazard cooking walk through. Will end up with more disappointed or frustrated aspiring cooks at home. Cheers, bro
Hahahaha I don't disagree! I think it is hard to teach someone to cook especially a beginner. Most of the time I don't really have a fixed recipe, like how many grams of this and how many tablespoons of that... if you cook often enough you just get a knack of it and know what it will taste like. I know what a teaspoon of white table salt will taste compared to pink Himalaya salt in a pot of soup. That's something no one can teach. My intention is just to share some tips and tricks that many recipe videos actually omit, because I have tried many of them, and there's always something missing for us to figure it out. By all means, try a lor mee recipe you find online. Taste it... then take my tip for putting in the fried shallots and taste the difference. So I do hope some of the videos fill in those blanks for people who really want to get a more authentic taste. Anyway I don't do it often... many times people who ask for recipes just ask for fun, maybe 1 out of 20 will actually learn to cook the dishes after watching LOL
The other thing is, I started this channel for my family and to record our stuff together, somehow it has been more food and travel-centric since I love those two things. But I am also leaving behind some stuff for my kids, and these recipes are also for their reference in the future. I hope they will always have a video they can watch again in the future when they want to taste Dad's food when I am gone. So I am afraid I will have to continue to make these videos, and if it is not to some people's liking they don't have to watch it. Cheers!
@pishedbloke Hahaha, well said, bro. " if it's not up to their liking, they don't have to watch it." Please, keep sharing ur simple, amateur cooking recipes.... My wife and I can't get enough it !!!! Cheers bro !
Love the way you communicate with your kids. I pray you will see the fruit of your labour.

That is a great tip... usually if I add a lot of pepper or small spices I will use those bags. No headache to separate later!
Your Penang food videos are making me very hungry 😕.
Need to book a SCOOT from Singapore 🇸🇬 to Penang & gasak all the makan you showed. 😂
Ooooh SCOOT is actually quite good, we had a good experience flying to Singapore on the airline. It's only 1hr 15 mins... come on over!

Hehehe ya lah people need to understand as parents we always want to do what is best for the kids, but also need to use our discretion and wisdom lah.
@@pishedbloke Fully agree Bro.... and you and your wife are doing a great parenting job!
