I happened to pass by the cai kueh lady’s stall as I visited the Pulau Tikus market this morning. I smilingly commented to her that I saw her on RUclips this morning. She was gleefully delighted. I then light-heartedly mentioned that ‘the big tall man’ who featured you was ‘judged upon’ by a viewer for getting free cai kueh. She wanted me to convey the message to the public at large that she, sincerely from the bottom of her heart, wanted the interviewer to taste her food as she takes great pride in preparing them. It was a gift of joy and she is very happy he had accepted it (with much resistance though). And as such, please do not be judgmental on him for her gracious act of giving … for the love of sharing good food I assured her that I will convey her feelings. I then waved goodbye and walked away to buy my mutu mayong nearby. She came by hurriedly and dropped a packet comprising of 2 cai kueh into my hands to thank me for conveying her message to the person who had kindly featured her on RUclips❤️. I pushed it back and said I don’t eat cai kueh and it was very kind of her to give it to me. We ended up in a tussle of pushing back and forth. I then said I will pay for it as I will not accept it free. She insisted I do not pay for it … and … we were starting to get the attention of the crowd nearby. It was an embarrassing moment for me. My next thought was to put the money on the stall and run away …. but my instinct tells me it is not right to do that. It will greatly hurt her pride. So I didn’t do it. I nodded my head and graciously thanked her for the gift. It is true. ‘… it is not always about money …’. Her act of giving and sharing gives her great joy … this is what she exactly said in our conversation. Let us all hear her words of wisdom.
Brooooo thanks for doing that and sharing the story!!! That is why, you can't judge my story from the short clip in the video... I also went into a back and forth with her for sometime hahahahaha!!! In the end, sometimes we must accept gifts with grace, and if possible we can repay or pay it forward too. I always believe in "what the right hand does, don't let the left hand see" People who want to condemn me and judge me, I can only scold them back, but in the end, karma will pay all debts. I owe you one brother, if we bump into each other let me know, at least a meal or kopi is on me! 🥰🥰🥰
The intent of my detailed narration of my encounter with the lady this morning is to emphasize the similar situation you were in then; and that you were sensitive to the passionate lady’s feelings too. You had been empathetic and caring. We have been following your subscription and we know that you are a kind and generous soul with a caring heart. And you would never exploit. Bless you.
You have made the chai kuih lady very happy by featuring her food on RUclips. I can see you genuinely wanted to pay and had no intentions of exploiting her. Not at all. Rest assured we are with you. We enjoy watching your videos and appreciate your efforts to share your (and also our) love for good food!
@@miikeylee236 thank you... I am sorry I got really annoyed with the other comment simply accusing me of cheating the nice auntie. Hi!!! No problem at all, love your place and food, in fact I was back again just the next week after this video was made with some friends from Singapore and they liked it too. Keep up the good work!
Thanks for sharing the dimsum place Bro. I have seen it before but have yet to try it. Can go there if want premium dimsum. Chai kuih aunty so friendly and passionate about her food. Must be hard for her to come all the way from Kulim to sell at Pulau Tikus - respect! Will support her when I see her
I think after reading the comments, better just silently support her. If not, she might want to give things for free again 😂. She should earn something for all her effort
Dim Sum looks damn yummy, as long as one is given value for money and it tasted great end of story... 😄 Pulau Tikus, fond memories of meeting my pen pal (Sabrina Lim, I remember still) in person after travelling up from JB, when I was 16!!! Wonder if she still lives around there?
Hahaha ya quite a surprise! I have met a few already, just that this is the first time I was filming I think. Aiyoooo... I am looking forward to 5K first. LOL
YESSS!!! Lhong Tou has been HIGH on my list to go with my fam when I (eventually) go back to Penang. It may be on the pricey side, but it's still cheaper than what I have to pay this side of the globe! (Side note: Abalone lo mai gai is cheaper than normal lo mai gai?! 🤯) Thank you again for another lovely video :)
Well, the regular lomaikai is RM8.90, the roast pork one is RM22.90 and the abalone LMK is RM28.90 just to give you an idea of the price increases LOL.
@@pishedbloke Still WAY cheaper than here. I pay about RM39 for a regular lo mai gai and don't even get offered special LMGs like with roast belly pork and abalone! 😄
