    Just used this to fix the rear brake caliper on a 2017 Mercedes Benz E-class (W213). The housing and bracket looks different but the mechanism is exactly the same. Thanks for helping us out!

    Nice vid, best I've seen.....however, can anyone explain to me how, in normal operation, the brake pad is released from the disc? It's obvious that when the brake is applied (both by foot and by motor) the caliper pushes against the pad but what happens when the brake is not used.....what pulls the pad back off the disc. There is no mechanical means of pulling it back off.....does it simply rely on nil pressure resulting in the the pad being in constant contact (just touching) the disc? Please help as my brain hurts 🙂👍

    Now any insight on doing this on a VW Atlas? The shaft inside has a lot of tiny little balls and springs that dislodged itself on me. I think I have to just buy new calipers, it doesnt look like I can re assemble this thing!

    Many thanks for a well presented and informative video. I had hoped that my Golf Mk7, which has an EPB, would have a similar caliper. But I was wrong. When I removed the piston about 20 tiny ball bearings fell out ! Could you please tell me if it is possible to re-assemble the mechanism or have I ruined the caliper ?

      I'm in the same boat. Tons of tiny ball bearings, springs, and a long spring that was kind of mangled. Did you end up just replacing the caliper?

    I have exact same caliper. Cannot find where this kit is sold. Please send link to a website. My caliper is dripping inside the servo motor and filling it with oil.

    It would have been more helpful had the producer of this video identified the specific name and retailer source for the two different lubricants he used for the cylinder and caliper parts.

      Yeah, the video is very informative but what’s up with using replacement parts from non-existing source?

    Great video thanks. One question do you happen to know what causes the screeching sound when applying the ebrake?

    • @dopiaza2006
      @dopiaza2006 2 года назад

      Wait until you are stopped before applying the ebrake :) Seriously though, sounds like the motor mechanism has dried up. Maybe pop the motor off and chuck some grease in. They do make some noise anyway though, maybe normal?

    Thanks for a great video. Just did a rebuild of my EPB caliper, Golf 7 2014. Only got one question. How do you bleed the caliper when installed again?

    • @richardknight7429

      Wouldn't you jump pump the brake to fill the caliper then open the brake line to pump out any air bubbles?

    Do you know what size thread the bolt is that goes through the caliper and holds the piston in?

  • @cameronrogers9123
    @cameronrogers9123 Год назад

    The handbrake mechanism is taking forever to thread in, I had to use a T45 on the teeth side and and crescent wrench on the gear side to thread in

    Can someone please tell me which wires should be power or ground to retrofit these 2007 D2 A8L calipers to another car? Which of the smaller wires are signal/trigger wires to activate the electromagnetic solenoid and clamp the rotor? Thank you

    Truth about all these caliper painting videos. If you don’t have an access to a send blaster, don’t even think about painting your calipers! And if you think you can do a good job with a wire wheel attached to your drill? Well, good luck with that!😂

    It's really a shame to make such a great job and film it in such bad light.
