I love the psychological study going on. Ikki and Kuraudo both actually ENJOY sword fighting where as Ayase trains/fights out of hate/revenge. She has completely the wrong mindset.
actually, Ayase only did sword fighting in the beginning because she looked up to her father and enjoyed it, if you read the light novels(totally worth it, www.baka-tsuki.org/project/index.php?title=Rakudai_Kishi_no_Eiyuutan), then you see the only reason all that happened was because she was mistaken about what her father wanted and she was desperately trying to be like him and get revenge. I know this is really late, but Kuraudo didn't stop his attacks. The technique Ikki used was actually a counter that dodges EVERY attack regardless of power or speed with minimal movement. It's kinda really hard to pull off cause he had to let go of all the creation (i.e. the material world) while simultaneously immersing himself in it (i.e. the entire existence).
The thing I like about the fights in this anime, is that the conflicts are personal. The big problem with many tournament arcs is that it's very hard to make the fights personal, however I feel that they did a decent job working around that in this anime.
This really was a good series. It was nice that the romance was defined pretty much from the start and the characters were inspiring and the fight scenes were fun.
+DarxFS saitama does have a very beautiful animation, but none of the saitama fights would NEVER even QUALIFY for a top 5 or even a top 10. his battles lack the needed degree of "who will whin" as i call it. you just KNOW saitama wobt even be scratched and end it in one punch, so if any opm fights could be in a top list, it would be a genos battle, cause there you actually feel like there is something at stake for the hero (though saitama will savr his cybernetic ass anyway :D)
This Orochimaru looks much more badass than Renji's, even if my one of the fav anime is bleach, i must say this Orochimaru look a lot better, for me atleast :D
I really like that they showed the side of Ikki that loves a hard an challenging fight. To me at least it sows that he's not just the one sided nice guy but also has a "twisted side" (I guess you could say) when it comes to fighting in some situations. It's a nice touch to his character.
I just realized but ikki is pretty much Kirito without all the shit that makes Kirito shitty I mean he has a broken family who either disregarded him or didn't expect much from him(Kirito's grandfather I think did that to him), his sister is in love with him to the point of incest, the capable and strong chick is also in love with him (but at least doesn't turn into a useless third wheel), and can kickass like no ones business. hopefully I don't get flack for that because I had my doubts about this show but unlike SAO it didn't shit on my expectations after the first half of the season.
+Joseph Camacho Kirito is pro dual wielder while ikki sword is just plain op his magic fkin steals techniques idea so he easily counter it and he goes at his possible limit with everything serpassing everyone else in a time limit and has perfect vision
eric23443219091 well thats the thing he has his limits I mean he pulls almost all his energy from the day to pull off all the op shit he does but kirito looks and feels op just because the writer needed someone to solve the problems without any of the minor characters getting too ahead of themselves like the case with Asuna I mean they made her look like she was competent and able to even contend with Kirito but then suddenly he gained the ability to Duel-Wield even though the SAO MMO didnt allow it I mean when you get to the point where you character starts to break the rules that you set forth than you kinda made him op just to writer yourself out of the corner. I dont mean to sound like a hater its just that Kirito looked liked a really cool character who could've developed into something more without having to be given all these OP elements..
+Joseph Camacho Technically, dual wielding swords along with a few other abilities are allowed in SAO, but the server unlocks them for specific people who met the requirements, and only for that one person for each. So it’s not against the rules, but still an unfair advantage. So still kinda sad lol. Also, is Ikki’s Perfect Vision and copying even magic to begin with? I was under the impression that it was just pure skill and his magic as an F ranker was pitifully weak.
Man the animation for this series was top notch. So many different techniques used in each of the fights; the black mist in this one, the blue and white in ikki vs Kirihara, the greyscale in ikki vs todo where its red vs yellow eyes. Guh i just loved this series.
Kind of late but you guys would be surprised by how much anime and manga that seem popular arent well recieved in japan. Bleach anime died and only was completed in the manga because the series wasnt doing well and it was considered one of the big 3 (naruto, bleach, one piece)
i'd say 7 / 10, way too cliché tbh, it's like they don't bother thinking about the characters anymore '' academy - check, mc who looks gay - check, literally 999 female & rare to find a male character - check, shitty kawai design of female characters? check. Gosh I hate all these kids commenting this and that name is stolen from this and that show. Chill. The Fuck. Out. All these terms are taken from basic Japanese folklore, so in the end neither of the shows was the first, they all took names from those stories, and that's it
GemTV It’s not pathetic, it’s “faithful” as people would call it. It’s like using the Greek gods in a movie about the Greek gods, it’s not pathetic it just makes sense. This is an anime about sword fighting (albeit with magical elements involved) so of course including actual forms of sword fighting makes sense. I mean it’s better than some made up bullshit that someone could make up on a whim.
Ikki is not that typical overpowered MC. He is weak but is determined to beat strong people. The reason he always win was because he is using Itto Sura and using tricks to manipulate the enemy.
Well Itto shura is useless in this fight since it only increases physically not your brain or reflexes but can increase the way you comprehend certain stuff like reaction time. But reflexes and reactions are different tho so that’s why it’s useless
An anime rival done right. Equally powerful like the mc and is the antithesis of what the hero represents. Rivals like vegeta from dbz, kyoya from beyblade and Paul from pokemon are not only the opposite of their respective main characters but they have incredible power that's matched with their personality as well as them not being villains but having their respected story. This kind of fight as well as the others I've mentioned before, is like trying to find that one rare desert in a massive buffet of spectacular food. So very rare but is absolutely incredible that it makes all other foods an appetizer
It's moments like this that made me actually think this show had some great depth. There were a lot of bad moments in Calvary but there were so many great moments too. It all evens out.
I guess that Orochimaru is acting in more anime than just in Naruto. Jokes away, that sword is THE MOST VIOLENT-LOOKING WEAPON I HAVE EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE !!!
It’s based after the legend in Japan, the snake that shedded most of it’s scales and stuff but most people don’t actually look in depth and call the case done and say “omg woosh from naruto” not everything is from Naruto :/
It's pretty funny when you actually know something about sword martial arts, and you notice that this "Irregular Guarding" everyone is so exccited about in this series, is just Half-Swording... and it is pretty much a basic in European Sword fighting or HEMA :D.
a lot of sword martial arts have half-swording in some form, either middle eastern, Chinese, Siamese, filipono, or south-east asian sword martial art. they all have it only its rarely shown and not many people know much about it.
Do Normal sword martial arts teach you to block with the sword's handle/pommel because that's also called irregular guarding in the series and he does that too.
no matter what male rivalry always more exciting and stronger than any kind of romantic relationship this scene and their rivalry was worth having a second season for them to rematch and face each other much stronger than they are now it would be a blast.
I love the series, but the final charge in the anime always irritated me after reading the novels. Ten'i muhou isnt just sticking your sword in front of you and running, its holding the sword ready to perform a powerful strike and then barely moving to dodge or guard attacks while getting to the perfect place to strike, here in the anime Ikki just holds his sword out and the magic wind barrier protects him, its a nit pick but one that always takes me out of this great fight.
After that match, Kurashiki sought Kaito (Ayase's father) to train him as he wants to beat Ikki in the festival. He also learned the said technique and does it better than anyone when combined with his natural reflexes. Unfortunately, they didn't fought each other in the festival.
Yeah,a story about a wild swordsman who travels the world fighting all sorts of swordsmen with various different styles to create the ultimate technique and he has the gift to be able to copy other techniques and make them into his own original one
Honestly, my only problem with this fight is that last attack would have left him so open. It really would only work if the opponent didn't expect it at all because you are basically running head first into their attack in an attempt to throw them off
The fact that these guys have enough time to explain each others ability in the middle of a fight like they stop and go let's explain to the viewers like wtf

Pause and look at the level of detail this anime has. (You can see ikki’s reflection on his own blade.) Fair to say that this anime is superior and rich both in story and animation.
the guy at the end didnt even care about loosing. he decided to stop his attack and let Ikki do the move he was waiting for 2 years. dedication at its finest
Not even half true. The dude was beaten pure and simple. You really think a guy that hell bent on having a death battle with only the strongest would be willing to let all of it go? Just for letting this guy win because he is the strongest? Would that satisfy him?
@@dragon67849 your reading capabilities arent the best i see. Read my comment again and then tell me that i implied he let him win. Thats what you really interpreted from my comment? I legit typed that the dude wanted to know the secret move that the old dude was going to show him but wasnt able to. He didnt let him win, hell, he didnt know that the old mans move was a game changer. He just wanted to see if he could beat it
@@Arahan96 And you don't know what words mean and you have no honor. And I quote: "he decided to stop his attack and let Ikki do the move".
How is that not letting him win? This is why i say you have no honor. You don't understand what it means to be a warrior. Say what you want. You're not gonna change my mind unless you change yours.
It was nice that the romance was defined pretty much from the start and the characters were inspiring and the fight scenes were fun.
idk wht but i always get back to this scene 10/10 loved this battle
FinalStand what episode is this ?

This will be in the top 5 best fights of 2015 for sure
+TheRedshift007 The best one for sure will be saitama vs boros, if you have read the onepunchman manga you know what i mean :v
+TheRedshift007 Im pretty sure it wont~ There is too much good stuff atm.
MazeMusicx after watching the fight I'm sure you agree you were wrong
MazeMusicx totally agree with u there ..... Though I like saitama but it is overpowered as fuck
And fights like this is the reason they should have made a second season
Bro Ik
Most definitely, loved this anime, it deserves a second season
Can't. The last episode would be a hentai. :3
nothing beat the feeling of enjoyment. *drink a cup of tea* :3
This Orochimaru looks much more badass than Renji's, even if my one of the fav anime is bleach, i must say this Orochimaru look a lot better, for me atleast :D
+AmvPower1 cause its not extremely over sized and compact kinda ideal for this time of sword one would assume.
naruto?
I like how the sword literally tries to kill him when he called it out. He had to beat it into submission for it to go into sword form XD
well renjis is called zabimaru but yeah I agree
both shonen animes are bad lmao.
Stella smiling after Ikki said his line is absolute gold, because she knew right away shit was about to go down
Me in 2015: wow this anime is awesome ! Can’t wait for the second season !
Me in 2021: *still* *no* *second* *season* (._.)

2023 and reality is often disappointing...
I really like that they showed the side of Ikki that loves a hard an challenging fight. To me at least it sows that he's not just the one sided nice guy but also has a "twisted side" (I guess you could say) when it comes to fighting in some situations. It's a nice touch to his character.
Slick Stream There are other, better characters with that same mindset.
@@anayos6726 Please name a few. Those types of MC's are dimes in a dozen.
Well kirito is adopted so basically his sister isn't really his sister ( biologically)
JynX well shiiiiiat that kinda just adds to the parallels since they outright disown him in some of his back story
5:48 I don't know why, but two strong people smiling in the middle of a big anime fight makes me VERY happy, lol
Yo this man Ikki is a mad lad smiling like that in the middle of a fight😂
The best kind of fights are where the villain and the hero can both go all out!
This anime was great, why do great anime's end up of only 12 episodes?
Creyus Caelum It was a 5 at best.
Hugo S no he is right it was a 5 at best :o but he forgot to mention a 5 out of 5 :P
Might be because of low budget
Kind of late but you guys would be surprised by how much anime and manga that seem popular arent well recieved in japan.
Bleach anime died and only was completed in the manga because the series wasnt doing well and it was considered one of the big 3 (naruto, bleach, one piece)
i'd say 7 / 10, way too cliché tbh, it's like they don't bother thinking about the characters anymore '' academy - check, mc who looks gay - check, literally 999 female & rare to find a male character - check, shitty kawai design of female characters? check. If anime like One outs / kaiji / rainbow... Didnt get more seasons im glad this didnt get a second season, it's like they're not even bothering with the plot anymore, they're just selling you kawai waifu... @@eternalchamp3882
i like anime character who smiles in a good fight. plus sword fighting is my favorite but the epic one not the boring swordnfights
Gosh I hate all these kids commenting this and that name is stolen from this and that show. Chill. The Fuck. Out. All these terms are taken from basic Japanese folklore, so in the end neither of the shows was the first, they all took names from those stories, and that's it
So pretty much a power fantasy? Sounds pathetic.
GemTV nigga what????
@@geraalcht well, your thinking is pathetic
Nope he is OP, it's just his situation that makes him look weak
@@silver_rocket_25 I mean he’s op in some ways but he can easily get overwhelmed in certain aspects
Basically boils down to
1. He's got good reflexes.
2. He gets tired easily because he acts 2 times more than normal people would.
3. Water is wet.
He just said ORA ORA ORA
I like that villain xD
Well, yeah. 'ora' means 'come on' in Japanese
This fight Was legit this was the time I liked all about villain vs mc
It's moments like this that made me actually think this show had some great depth. There were a lot of bad moments in Calvary but there were so many great moments too. It all evens out.
"So it's the same type of sword as Zabimaru"

that one snake bankai vs ichichos bankai but more epic basically
zero Nightingale hiho zabimaru
Kurashiki's voice actor is perfect.
Best second plan chatacter of 2015.
I guess that Orochimaru is acting in more anime than just in Naruto. Jokes away, that sword is THE MOST VIOLENT-LOOKING WEAPON I HAVE EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE !!!
looks like Renji's Zabimaru from Bleach
@@tulobrotherstcg Yes
It’s based after the legend in Japan, the snake that shedded most of it’s scales and stuff but most people don’t actually look in depth and call the case done and say “omg woosh from naruto” not everything is from Naruto :/
True
It's pretty funny when you actually know something about sword martial arts, and you notice that this "Irregular Guarding" everyone is so exccited about in this series, is just Half-Swording... and it is pretty much a basic in European Sword fighting or HEMA :D.
Aurilion44 but Ikki doesn't use European sword fighting normally. ;)
Lezardstherapist Haha, good point :D
a lot of sword martial arts have half-swording in some form, either middle eastern, Chinese, Siamese, filipono, or south-east asian sword martial art. they all have it only its rarely shown and not many people know much about it.
Do Normal sword martial arts teach you to block with the sword's handle/pommel because that's also called irregular guarding in the series and he does that too.
in the ligt novel he usde kodatci tecninus onsted dont know why they changde it
I don't know how many times I watched this never gets old.A season 2 would be awesome
Never thought Asahi would quit volleyball to train a Naruto Villain and end up fighting Akaashi
How is this amazing show doesn’t get a second while that Peter Grill show does
this anime had sooo much potential yet whyyyy!!!!!
This is the first anime in which villain actually knows what he is doing.
Don't most villians usually know what they're doing?
no matter what male rivalry always more exciting and stronger than any kind of romantic relationship this scene and their rivalry was worth having a second season for them to rematch and face each other much stronger than they are now it would be a blast.
God I love this fight. Even the villain is awesome XD
Stella: ಥ‿ಥ that's not all he steals
This is why I want 2nd season of this anime, I want them to fight again in that festival
That's why I like kurodo , man is a literal sword maniac
I love the series, but the final charge in the anime always irritated me after reading the novels. Ten'i muhou isnt just sticking your sword in front of you and running, its holding the sword ready to perform a powerful strike and then barely moving to dodge or guard attacks while getting to the perfect place to strike, here in the anime Ikki just holds his sword out and the magic wind barrier protects him, its a nit pick but one that always takes me out of this great fight.
Agreed. Teni'Muho is a counter that relies on minimum movements to dodge so the opponents attack appears to phase through the person.
After that match, Kurashiki sought Kaito (Ayase's father) to train him as he wants to beat Ikki in the festival. He also learned the said technique and does it better than anyone when combined with his natural reflexes. Unfortunately, they didn't fought each other in the festival.
This anime has the best music design by far
you know what they say when it has the perfect mix of actoon and romance it doesnt get a second season
this is one of those most underated anime this anime was so good action plot abilities it was so good but heavly underated
4:35 best part
That would be a good name for an anime "sword eater"
Yeah,a story about a wild swordsman who travels the world fighting all sorts of swordsmen with various different styles to create the ultimate technique and he has the gift to be able to copy other techniques and make them into his own original one
This is the first time... I have yet to find that awesome battle ost v.v

Ok you drips, there are three songs featured in this video, the one at 0:40 is NOT featured in the album...probably unreleased
Yeah, wtf? Do ywe any information about them or a source?
Yes we all love are friendly physcopath ikki
Honestly, my only problem with this fight is that last attack would have left him so open. It really would only work if the opponent didn't expect it at all because you are basically running head first into their attack in an attempt to throw them off
Somewhere within the vicinity, there's Kagami secretly recording the duel... 🤣🤣
That "Orochimaru" sword is a blatant clone of Zabimaru from Bleach.
The ost is amazing
dont cut the defeat reaction of sword eater lol
The fact that these guys have enough time to explain each others ability in the middle of a fight like they stop and go let's explain to the viewers like wtf

2:50 so this mf just gives a lesson in the middle of an intense fight
Nobody gonna mention he literally has the exact same sword as Renji from Bleach?
so we aren't gonna talk about how the Sword Eater (Kuraudo Kurashiki) Has a reaction time of 50ms?
I don't know why..but everytime when Stella and ikki are closer it makes me so happy!!!
At first I was like, WOAH ITS A QUINQUE
