Needed 1,000 years, a broken ability, and plot armor to beat him. Man was truly a menace to the soul society. R.I.P
Totally Madara ten tails ish😅
I actually really like that Yamamoto wasn’t beaten by just a generic “I’m stronger than you” bad guy introduction, he had to actually be outsmarted and tricked into losing
Plot armor and beaten by such a coward this dude literally did not fight him and killed him when he was tired
Not plot armor Yhwach is literally just stronger
@@Luwabi212 Not even remotely plot armor, Yamamoto was so insignificant to him that he used a weak body double to fight him just so he could go walk to Aizen.
The real fight is barely even a page long in the manga, that's how easily Yhwach killed Yamamoto.
Going further, and this isn't spoilers as bleach ended over a decade ago, Yhwach goes on to body all of gods guards, and god himself with no issue just as quickly.
Interesting that Yama and Ichigo's Bankais both follow the same idea of condensing your power into the sword itself, rather than say, turning into a giant baby.
Also the West part of his bankai is basically a flame cloak, like how ichigo has a different cloak when he uses bankai as well
@@eliaspanayi3465 Both their bankais are worn on them. Ichigos clothes are literally an indicator of how much power he has left in bankai, quite a cool similarity share.

@@Systolic120mmHg and the biggest I think
Yamamoto’s bankai is not small unlike tensa zangetsu which is single small sword
My little brother was so intrigued by Yamamoto's bankai that he waited for YEARS, avoiding spoilers, memes and reading the manga, for the moment he would finally see this bankai in all his animated glory. He said the wait was worth it. Every damn second of it.
Your little brother was just like me. I waited years to see this old man blow shit up, and I was not disappointed, I was impressed, beyond a doubt.
I always love seeing the old dude pop off in animes and I enjoyed the huge build up it was 1000 percent worth it

I thought his death was badass
I love that Yama did not disappoint as far as his power at all! And I never realized how scary that Bankai must look after he extinguished/absorbed all that fire at once. The manga doesn’t do this justice. Now him losing to plot annoys me every time but the man is a damn demon!
Yes he is demon, that's a written rule in bleach now.
Yamamoto mistake in this battle is, he is too much consumed by his own wrath, that he himself couldn’t analyse whether he against real yhwach or impostor (reiatsu can’t lie). This is the same mistake when Toshiro stabbed Aizen turns out it was Hinamori all along.
It was different when Toshiro stabbed Hinamori. Kyoka Suigetsu can manipulate all senses, not just the basic 5. This can even be seen in this video, as Aizen manipulates Yhwach’s sense of time.

U got it bro, that teach a lot in real life when u emotional making decision
@@Dovahkiin106 Well, all the captain & visored however still getting baited to battle Aizen eventho they still can’t precisely know whether Aizen already release shikai or not yet. Consider for a moment that Yamamoto had to actually bring the temperature *down* for those flames to become visible. They were always there, but they burned so hot no one could perceive them.
Yeah, when fire gets to a certain heat it becomes invisible to the naked eye. I think jet flames are like this.
Thank god you understand this . This is the same as Transcendent Aizen brining down his sp to other peoples awareness , Yama does the same here
It's also stated that the flames on his body aren't from the heat but his roaring spiritual pressure.
@@NeutralGuyDoubleZero yeah, people are missing this one which to me is a lot bigger than yama "powering down" to display his SP. Id wager yama in bankai is a transcend being (above butterflyaizen) his SP was so strong, that his SP burst out appearing like flames is something. It's similar to the inklike look Ichigo had when he was "getsuga".
@@calladus123 Honestly, I was prepared to shoot down him being stronger than butterflyaizen, but that actually makes a bit of sense.
Maybe not fully transcended, as his physical zapukuto shows no signs of merging/connecting with him. But the excessive aura on display and sheer power would make sense.
He was bordering on fully reaching that kind of state as he developed his bankai post Ywach, but at some point tempered off for all the reasons Ywach mentioned.
If Yama stayed a killer as he got older he would've been crazy. Possibly zero squad or above.
One of the biggest penny drop for me when reading the manga was when I looked at the form of his bankai, and to a lesser extent his shikai, then connected the dots of the Bankai being referred to as 'true strike' and explained as the purest incarnation of the sword which, in turn, is essentially a reflection of its owner and Yamamoto's past as the leader of what amounts to a group of roving killers that morphed into the Gotei 13.
Yamamoto is, at heart, a destroyer. And nothing but.
One thing the anime has done better than the manga so far is showing the carnage. Never in the manga did I realize just how many soul reapers were actually killed.
Yhwach stated that Yamamoto became beyond weaker actually in his old age and even more weaker after loosing his arm and not wanting it back. He said basically that if he had his other arm he would be a challenge to him
Not exactly. In Yhwach's eyes, Yamamoto refusing to have Orihime heal his arm was proof that the old Shinigami had become too prideful, too conservative. No longer willing to sacrifice his pride in order to remain strong. He was simply no longer the ruthless killer who had murdered the original Sternritter, and thus could no longer be counted as a threat. I'm not sure the battle would have been that different with old man Yama having both arms.
@@Naedrelian He was 1 hit by yhwach. so id say no... still 1 hit...
@@ThereisNOpandemicWAKEUP I'm confused, what are you saying no to?
@@Naedrelian Your right in that pride argument. But remember the conversation beetwen Ichigo and Unohana (when they were leaving Hueco Mundo to help the others on Karakura Town) about reiatsu. The body and the cloths are parts of shinigami reiatsu. And Yamamoto not having is arm is actually a significant loss of reiatsu for him. Plus the fact he wasted alot of reiatsu already with is bankai and all his techniques to defeat the false Yhwach and getting his bankai stolen too. Ended up to be an easy win for Yhwach.
@@Majinbuuh That's perfectly fair. While Yamamoto's loss of an arm shouldn't be overstated, it's still an impairment, both of his fighting prowess and reiatsu.
I don’t think a lot of people are giving this sternritter the credit he deserves. He doesn’t copy power, only identity and memory. This whole fight was with his own Quincy powers and he managed to last that long. Well done

This fight kinda reminds me of how the Jedi were deceived by the Sith. The Sith had changed, and were no longer the same enemy as before, creating new methods and strategies to destroy the Jedi. The Jedi grew stagnant and unaware. I think this is a form of what Yhwach is saying to Yama at the end. Yhwach had already won a long time ago, and this wasn't even a fight. We all want to see a grand spectacle of a fight (and we did somewhat), but the true fight was in mindset and action that was taken beforehand. I think that's the beauty of this fight.
Kind of encapsulates the arms of the Soul King and the sides they took.
One for change and growth. The other for stagnation and preservation.
Interesting. In fact the entire TWBW arc reminds me of the New Jedi Order series in the Expanded Universe in a good way- the Jedi had become complacent with a vanguard of unstoppable badasses built up and hardly any major characters had died for 15+ years of novels. Then a fanatically religious new enemy emerges from the shadows and shatters that bubble of security, slaughtering tons of their best and sacking their capital.
I love how immediately after resealing his zanpakuto, it just starts piss pouring rain from all the moisture that got evaporated
The fact that Yamamoto wasn't actually fighting with Yhwach truly shows how being old affects even the strongest shinigami.
Had nothing to do with age. The copy of Ywach had the same power level, so it was impossible to detect it wasn't really him.
@@thelegacyofgaming2928 wrong. Royd, unlike his brother, can only copy appearance, memory, and personality. Not powers or techniques.
Don't forget that Yama only had 1 arm. And Urahara said during the Aizen arc that Shinigami release their spiritual pressure through their wrists. Which means Yama's power was reduced by 50% since he only had 1 wrist.
@@TheBigExclusive That is not how it works, that is simply your headcanon. Losing an arm doesn't make you instantly 50%, if that was true it would be stated somwhere, at least by the writer himself in interviews.
@@koolkataustin2961 - Urahara said that's how's Shinigami release their power in the Aizen arc. And Yhwach made fun of Yama for not fixing his arm.
Not only is this Bankai insanely physically powerful, it is also a mental drain. Imagine fighting this dude, and having him constantly switch between his 4 stances. One of them is literally you being "attacked" by enemies this dude has killed revived as skeletons. Like, your buddy Jimmy could've just been stabbed and now he is trying to kill you. This fight didn't show the full tactical usage of Zanka no Tachi, so we have to imagine what it would be like if Yama basically tried to create a fully optimized strategy. If he were to constantly switch between his Cardinal Stances, there is no way for even the most powerful enemy to withstand it. Maybe someone like Aizen with his intellect, but other than that, it would be an impossible fight. Yama is just kinda dumb in this fight.
Ichigo aizen ichibe all of these guys shitstomps yama lol
i mean you have to remember that yama was consumed with rage at this point and wanted to make yhwach(the impostor) suffer for what he did and if not he wouldve used tenchi kaijin as soon as he activated bankai which would not have tired yama out as much as it actually did
@@deaggravvhell naw
He's not dumb. He didn't even need Bankai. The whole point of using Bankai here is to dominate Yhwach in the most over-the-top way possible in order to vent his hatred and grief. That's why there was no tactical use of North and South interwoven with East and West.
Yeah, it’s very clearly shown that the pure fighting “monster” Yamamoto died long ago…while hes still of course extremely powerful and skilled hes
Not pure killing machine anymore. Besides, he also couldn’t go all out or he’s destroy soul society. Just a little of his power and the ground was already cracking and even captain level soul repears were being “ dehydrated “ by his spiritual presence

The autor got some shitty decisions during the series, still a Shounen, he didn't do justice to our Yama, and he also lost cuz he was arrogant as fuck, old thinker and more, but still my favourite character on Bleach, the autor had to need him all the fucking time cuz he created a monster character just like Ora with Kaido
@@idante7016what are you talking about? It's always been foreshadowed by kubo that yhwach is by far the strongest entity in bleach.
Honestly yammamoto losing makes sense to me, now don’t explode on me. Kubo makes a good argument in manga in showing how emotionally charged the head captain could be. He subordinates brutal death really effected him made him think out of anger even when speaking with mayuri he was tempted to blame mayuri for lack of foresight which didn’t work because mayuri doesn’t overlook anything and he called the head captain out on his hubris. Head captain made same mistake he made with Aizen, he thought raw power was enough without understanding that his enemies would have realized his power and planned ahead. He realizes this all too late hence his dead expression. Like really dude the fact he thought they couldn’t steal his bankai was just hubris.

Plot armor
Plot armor and simply another case of Kubo not keeping track on the power levels he gives characters. As much as I loved Bleach, Kubo was by far one of the worst when it came to consistency in his characters abilities and powers.
don't forget about jugram watching by the side
Well worth the ten year wait for more episodes, the animation budget is BONKERS I say. God I fucking love Bleach and it's world minus a few discrepancies/retcons
Even though Yamamoto lost....my friend was a huge manga fan, whilst i absolutely adored the captain's style, the bankai and such, that he almost spoiled it for me,which for i shutted his mouth. It was worth the wait to see such an immense, unmeasurable strenght, come to life, even if for a short duration.
i know it wasn't the real yhwach but at least we get to see yamamoto's bankai capabilites in action
Imagine unohona and Yamamoto stepped in together..
One of the greatest Anime battles in history.
すげー演出だな。
劇場版みたいだし迫力も申し分ない。
The man who can't use bankai uses it for the first time and uses it twice in one episode but still died☠️
アニメーション天才。
can we take a moment to appreciate how bleach kept elemental-ists relevant! usually using fire, water, ice, cold, wind becomes irrelevant onces energy balls, slashes, and beams enter the game.
man it is so unfortunate that the strongest guy in the whole series gets taken out by such a pathetic little trick
but yama isn't the strongest guy... he is extremely powerful but Yhwach is leagues above him. yamamoto is only the captain commander of the gotei 13 while Yhwach is the father of all quincies and at this point in the story he is far above everyone else, only Aizen is comparable to him
@@LeGrosEnTABARNAK then why did yhwach use that bitchmove against him ?
@@alduinog4838 what bitchmove? using a clone to fight yama? that was only a diversion so he could talk with Aizen without yamamoto coming in and destroying the underground prison. remember that yamamoto is bloodlusted and blinded by rage, he wants to avenge the death of his lieutenant above anything else, and even though he's not a direct threat to Yhwach, he still has immense destruction power and could destroy the whole soul society which would've impacted Yhwach's plans. Yhwach was also limited by time during the first invasion, thats why he went for Aizen first. Also Yamamoto had to die and Kubo needed to show his bankai so what better way to do it than against a fake Yhwach?
@@alduinog4838 ywach ichibei aizen and ichigo are all in a whole new tier by the end. And if you take the nivels into account zaraki gets up there too
@@LeGrosEnTABARNAK aizen is not comparable 💀 Yhwach was soloing aizen Ichigo and ranji like they're nothing
Now do you understand why Zangetsu doesn't like the rain?
When I saw this I was like "There's no way that's the real Yhwach. Way too easy."
The animation is 🔥🔥🔥🔥
山爺ぃー!!😭
0:43 is epic moment!
"Think of it this way, with this Bankai, my whole body and the sword are clad in the sun." This line goes so hard. Yamamoto was a goat, no question. So sad he got ho'd like that.
When you so goated plot armor gotta knock you off early before the show even start getting good 😭😂
Moral of the story: if you hear “bankai” and all you see is a tiny sword, run.
Such good animation. I wish Yamamoto could've fought actual yhwach longer and displayed some more of his power, sucks, that all of that was against a clone and not the real one
めっちゃめっちゃカッケー
Amazing
Yamamoto activated Bankai
Ability: DESOLATE LAND
The sunlight became extremely harsh!
Man istg his bankai incantation is the coolest of all bankai that I've ever seen. If bankai like senbonzakura and zangetsu have cool effect like sakura flowers and overwhelming reiatsu, then zanka no tachi is the opposite, from overwhelming fire of ryujin jakka, to a quiet-looking power
Yhwach:" Peace has cost you your strength, Victory has defeated you "
i like how it got bright after activating his bankai
Bleach villains be like:
99% how to defeat yamamoto
1% any other
