Brilliant songs have come out of this guy for 5 decades.....Randy Newman is someone special in the music world.....

From Short People to I Love LA to Cleveland (Major League) to Political Science (Blast from the Past).
I’ve always loved this song and I was just sharing it with my son. I commented right after the song that I couldn’t believe nobody was laughing. And then Randy Newman mentions the very same thing. Maybe it’s just too close to the reality of the American psyche these days.
Your satire is refreshing. This has always been one of my FAVORITE songs, for obvious reasons. 😜 Along with short people. Because I’m 5’2”. You’ve got a friend in me, Randy. Forever and ever.
Sail Away is great satire
I worked on this project with the Rand Corporation. At a small meeting once, the manager told me, “Larry, I’m tired of your sardonic wit”. I started laughing because I realized that is why I love Randy Newman.
One of the most haunting and best songs ever. When in the 80th I was in the anti atombom movement this song gave me support and humor too! Thank you Randy for that.
And the small part about Australia, that is sweet and is a surprising part in a dark song..

October 2, 2023 - This song came to mind while I was in a mood to listen to some of my favorite Randy Newman songs. It's one of probably five Randy Newman songs I have loved over the decades. While I know the song is definitely satirical.. I have to say there is almost an insane logic from an American zealot's point of view.😁 "They all hate us any how.."🤣
This needs a revisit in 2020!! This needs to be the year of the #protestsong
