I'm having a bad life of late. Good seeing this Randy Newman live clip. Thanks.
crazy how this was so long before arguably his best work
The score for the Natural is unreal. Newman is a legend. I Love LA
This Guy Tears Me Up, My Goodness, MY LIFE IS GOOD!
What a brilliant writer/composer. A truly unique talent.
Interesting that "ass" and "cocaine" were censored. The opening scene from Wolf of Wall Street would be deeply frowned upon by 1983 NBC.
And yet "give her a poke or two" was just fine for broadcast!
If he got a shoe deal for Nike they would be called “Air Newmans”. Instead of “Just Do It” it would be called “Get it over with” and they would be marketed to short people.
I just seen your comment and was going to comment about the shoes too he's wearing the first generation Nike Pegasus in fact I don't think they were even Air Pegasus just the regular first generation pair of Nike Pegasus
my life is good today
I've been quoting this performance for years! Thanks!
absolutely brilliant
4:50 ....and in those 12 seconds I wrote 6 songs about Nike shoes
Best songwriter without Dylan's imaginary substitutes. They are brilliant composers.
I love Randy Newman SO much!!!!!!!! Coolest MF on the planet! Aside from maybe Donald Fagen, that is. ;)
yeah , there's something in common with both of them..
2 ferbissiners right there
Randy took way more risks
That is quite the subtle social critique.
Honest
"She wrote this song to me" :'D
Never again will you have the music act on a late show make the crowd laugh and actually hear it...
lol bleeping out the word "cocaine"
All the TV ppl have got a guilt complex about it
LOL .. Randy looks like he's wearing the exact same clothes he was on his prior visit to the show. And, again, he's not letting the band play with him on his tunes. Does he not play well with others? &:-D)
atty garland of course he plays well with others. but THIS was the way he performed at the time.
when he DOES perform with "backup" it's the London Phil, as per his Live in London album.
Good admission to not thinking he plays well with others in his interview on Marc Maron’s podcast
where can I find the apology he broadcast on TV about short people and stuck his toung out
Have you tried searching for it?
Try spelling tongue correctly….works on Craig’s List with Dinning and Dining Room.
Saturday Night Live
Season 3, disc 3, episode 3, scene 11.
I've been bingeing while recovering lately.
SNL was never better.
"ass" and "cocaine" are bleeped out? Uh...
Yep
He’s like a less rhythmic Weird Al
But 1,000 times more talented.
A bit darker than Weird Al!
@@dongiller he must be your dad
LESS rhythmic? It's a safe bet that you don't know just who this guy is.
@@paulcollan6758 I'm guessing it's irony. Otherwise, yes, you're correct.
