I have my own version of the embolden leaping thrust build. It uses the Chaotic Gore Magala Lance, Luzifer/Sage, from TU3. It focuses on overcoming the frenzy virus to achieve 100% affinity and is probably the comfiest meta-ish build out there using Guard and Guard Up as well as Embolden to be as tanky as possible while still dishing out tons of damage.
The armor pieces I am using as well as the decorations are as follows
Weapon: Luzifer/Sage - Guardian 3/Brace 1 (Rampage deco is up to you)
Head: Arc/Storge - Expert 2
Chest: Onmyo - Ironwall+ 3/Critical 2/Cornerstone 1
Arms: Onmyo - Attack 2/ Shield 2/Ironwall 2
Waist: Rathalos - Attack 2 (I augmented mine to have two extra level one slots, to which I slotted in two cornerstone jewels)
Legs: Onmyo - Shield+ 4
As for my talisman, I am using an Attack level 2/Critical Boost level 1 with a level 2 slot, but don't be too discouraged by it because you can find a combination of talisman/jewels tailored to you.

- Stamina Surge Lv 3
- Guard Lv 3

My switch skills for my Red Scroll (I don't really swap scrolls for this build)
1. Insta-Block
2. Dash Attack
3. Guard Dash
4. Spiral Thrust
5. Sheathing Retreat
My playstyle using this lance is to Guard Dash into Leaping Thrust continuously and to Insta Block when the opportunity arises

Very creative ideas! Some of them got pretty whacky in the end but if someone has fun using the lance then it's a win. Love the videos!
whacky is definitely the word for it. I wanted to use a bunch of the "set bonus" skills and some of them are really difficult to find a use for. Mileage will vary but i hope you're able to get a kick out of using them, even if its using the skills in a silly way.
Perfect, I was not satisfied with my build but unsure which direction to go in. There is bound to be some nice inspiration in here, gotta watch later on 👍
Embolden is by far my favorite skill on lance, and having some luck on the augment system to get bladescale hone, you can run a hybrid set of traditional guard lance and evade lance, with the lucent narga gloves, adrenaline rush as well, makes for a fun little challenge of keeping up with all the buffs you can (off guard, adren rush, sharpness, anchor rage etc)
Sounds less fun and more tedious. A challenge true, I like fun challenges though.
Embolden also let's you know that the next attack is going to target you specifically!
I have been using full onmyo armor on lance with bubble, ,bladescale, resusitate. So many power buffs and Super fun!
I've been using Embolden to spam leaping thrust for a few weeks now. Leaping thrust has the ability to delay input between the leap and the thrust, so you can really dance with the monster. It's been a ton of fun!
Embolden is the new comfy meta, nothing else gives you anywhere near the same level of safety and damage at the same time.
It’s great. And the armor that comes with it is really strong too. Even if the mizu pieces didn’t have embolden on them I’d still consider using the waist arms and legs for my set.

With decos and my talisman I got Agitator 5, Element Attack 5, Guard 5, Defiance 5, Critical Boost 3, Weakness Exploit 3, Stamina Surge 3, Guard Up 3, Windproof 3, Embolden 3, Handicraft 2, Razor Sharp 2, Adrenaline Rush 2, Critical Element 1 and Spiribird's Call 1.
I haven't done Qurious Crafting on any of these pieces but I would aim for the third level of Razor Sharp, more Handicraft and some Burst.

A sleep bomb status trigger set is honestly some of the most fun I've had in Sunbreak, though I didn't think of anchor raging the bombs explosions like you mentioned in the vid as I usually just dodge it to proc ST again then repeat the loop.

Communicating with them I’ll have someone wack me under Anchor rage before the wake up. It’s bitter sweet that your teammates can hit you out of your guard. Sometimes good, sometimes bad lol

I know elemental builds are better, and that I could optimize a point out of burst into something else, but I like these skills at these levels, and I'm having a lot of fun!!

Spiral Thrust not being as dominant is also for the best because the move simply feels awkward and cumbersome to use. The way a player oftentimes has to angle their trajectory for the three-hit move that is Spiral Thrust in order to ensure that the second and third parts of the attack hit the intended hitzone on a target feels, for lack of a better word, janky. In addition, the animation just doesn't reflect the kind of damage the full three-part move does. Why does the third hit of Spiral Thrust do the most damage despite having such a weak animation with zero force behind it? Not to mention Spiral Thrust reminds me far too much of the dash attack finisher spam in MHGen and MHGU's Striker Lance (which is the most one-dimensional and shitty lance playstyle in the series' history despite its insane damage output).
I remember that I had a good idea that what if intrepid heart could work with counterstrike. Sadly it didn't work.
what´s the wonky interaction that KO and Stamina has on afflicted monster? very interested to learn about that.
Lolz first build shown is the spiral thrust hellfire. That’s been my build since the last update. I combine it with grinder (s) and protective polish. I don’t spam the spiral thrust though. Just when I activate the hellfire.
Still enjoy the explosion build doodle plays... blast lance...exploding rock steady (IH lv2) and hellfire cloak and very much so just raw dmg skills like agitator and atk boost ect.
What layered armor are you using? The one with white,gold, and green.

as a person that still learns lance imma probably stay with the build I have now, but if I get more comfy with the weapon imma for sure try some of those
I still farm tails occasionally. The last one I did was Silver Rathalos, because a ton of his gear needs at least one each
Hi i'm building up a poison lance set. If i use the Flame Espinas lance, does poison attack boost increase its hidden poison damage stat?
Make a or try heroics set I c no 1 only with is at all or is it bad and I also don't c dragon heart is that bad too?

Dude I have one problem with hellfire cloak that is at lvl 3 it negates the self explode. If it didnt do that, we would have 100% resus, counterstrike uptime with no need of monster hits taken. The devs had that idea too when giving the Magna legs 2 points of cstrike..
