I notice that in this video you said that you use alcohol before applying ceramic coat. I am using the repel pro and Thor. Is it necessary to alcohol everything or would a dawn soap wash be enough please let me know I don’t want to skip any steps before the coating. I appreciate you
Hey bro, you’re fine with either/or. If you do alcohol, it will be fine, or if you do Dawn, it will be fine. It’s up to you. It can sometimes be quicker just to take alcohol wipes, just to wipe the boat down real quick doing a whole wash job, but that’s just my opinion.

when you say non skid are you talking about the ruff kinda of floor or the diamond pattern floor? and can you put the ceramic coating on the ruff kind of floor in a boat?
Anything will be an improvement over wax.. Some waxes have evolved into sealants which I guess may be better but none of these things are known for longevity.. I know that there are ceramic coating products for vehicles, but I do not know if there are any really tested long term with proof, ceramic products for boats.. A coating is supposed to be able to handle more bad stuff and not go away for a longer time.. It is usually a kind of product that repels dirt, unlike a wax which is oily and actually holds onto all dirt that lands on it.. Waxes have a lot of oils in them, some synthetic, that make it always look really shiny, etc., but that is only because of all the OILS on it.. Once they get cooked off, way less shine and protection..
As well as just curious I have boat polished to my best of my ability. And it was waxed do I need to use dawn to clean that off then use alcohol to clean it off before I use ceramic coat
Yes, if you were going to ceramic coat your boat, you need to make sure all of the wax is completely removed. You can use Dawn dishwashing soap, and rubbing alcohol to do that. Once all of the wax and oils are removed then you can ceramic coat.
Great video. You can tell that you really care about the job and the customer. IGL products aren't available to the average boat owner. What ceramic system would you recommend? What cleaner would you recommend for washing? Thanks. Keep up the great work!

Hey Drake, Very impressed with your work ethic and passion for perfection. I'm ceramic coating my first Robalo R260. The Robalo just needs a cut and polish. What is a good estimate per foot for coating this boat? Did you use super clean straight in your foam cannon for the first clean and what polish do you use for stainless steel? Thanks in advance and keep up the great work on your videos!

Not sure of the price on that coating! Usually for rub rail down to water line I’d charge around $50 a ft and topside around $75. But I am high on my ceramic pricing so shoot for lower ha

what music do you listen to mate
Usually Christian worship music! I need Jesus to get me through the day killing my self on these boats haha
pretty cool. I've never seen anyone apply ceramic with a polisher. do you toss the pad after or any specific way you clean it to prevent it from hardening up and losing a pad?
Just toss the pad after
@@DrakesDetailing cool man. Videos are awesome.
Super awesome video thank you so much
Thanks!
What is the best ceramic to use? Thanks
Are you a Diy’er or detailing business?
@@DrakesDetailing I am not a detailer however I am having a professional/friend doing it for me. He is used to cars so wanted a recommendation on what to order. Thanks

Does it make that deck slippery?
No, it will make it a touch more slick, but it’s ultimately the engineering of the non-skid that keeps it non-slip.
Thanks for the compliments!
What coating are you using?
I’d probably be around $40 a ft for the compound and polish
I cleaned with dawn in my foam cannon
My pleasure! Ceramic one is the coating I'll be applying. Thank you for answering my questions! I appreciate it.
Not sure of the price on that coating! Usually for rub rail down to water line I’d charge around $50 a ft and topside around $75.
But I am high on my ceramic pricing so shoot for lower ha
Ceramic Coat $50-$75 per foot here around Puget Sound
Respect!!! Great and beautiful job 👏
Thanks! ❤️💯💯
What do you use to wash the pad and the regs after?
Ceramic rags and pads, I just Throw away.
Who do recommend in Tampa Bay for this?
Hey bro! Unfortunately I don’t have any contacts in the Tampa area
My back hurts just watching you guys work..lol I watch these wondering what I would charge for the job you’re performing and I could never put a number on it. 🤷🏽♂️ great content!
Haha it’s hard work! My Chiropractor told me to switch careers!
@@DrakesDetailing that’s hilarious, I’m seeing a chiropractor this afternoon today too. I’ll probably get the same advice lol
Stopping doing this kind of work get you worse. Slow down is the best I did and it works. I do boats ones in a while and most of it cars.
Good job on the boats.!!!
Shot out to you Drake from Southern California
🔥🔥😎
I don't understand why you would polish before adding another layer of coating? Wouldn't it be better to add another layer to the already existing coating that is already on it? 2 layers of coating instead of 1
The polish isn’t removing the coating, it’s removing water sports and scratches in the coating
@@DrakesDetailing But doesn't the coating fill in the water spots and scatches? By polishing you are removing a small layer of coating, which I think shouldn't be removed at all...
Cool then don’t polish it bro
@@DrakesDetailing You're the one making the video dude...
Exactly so take my advice or leave it
Great video. Love the detail (pun intended haha)... So my new Barletta pontoon boat manufacturer is not recommending use of any 303 or vinyl protectant. Something to do with the type of vinyl I guess. They do mention Vantage Protection system which is a ceramic coating product. Unfortunately, my dealer doesn't carry it so I'm looking for other products to use to protect my seats. Are there any on Amazon that you've tried that you recommend? Thanks man! Keep up the good work!
Hey man! That’s weird that they say not to use 303, I’ve never heard of that before. Unfortunately that’s really the only one I use :/.
@@DrakesDetailing thanks for the response Drake! Yeah, I’m trying to figure out which vinyl manufacture they have sourced so I can try to understand why this new vinyl would be different. Take care!!!
What's the benefits of ceramic coating a boat that has been wrapped?
The ceramic coating will not adhere as well to vinyl, so not a lot of benefit, unless you are wanting that extra shine, that will be there for awhile before it goes away..
I make $200 on bigger trucks I can only imagine what your making on a boat! $500?
Did you do mobile boat detailing starting out?
Yes I started out mobile detailing. Cars, Rv’s and boats
On this boat I charged around $3200
You just gained a subscriber
Thank you!!
Great video! Thanks
Thank you!!
Great video bro. What's your favorite marine ceramic coating?
igl coatings 100% !
The prices is good, easy to apply and it’s preformed really well in salt water!
@@DrakesDetailing How was the process to get certified so you can buy the coating?
Pretty easy! I think I just reached out to them and I was approved! I was also Ceramic pro certified before so I don’t know if that’s why they approved me so quickly!
Call my rep he will get you taken care of! Brian Mattingly with IGL Coatings USA. 703-955-1019.
Make sure you tell him Drake Robert with Drakes Mobile Detailing sent you!
@@DrakesDetailing Thank you brotha
Great video.
Thank you!!
Drake,
How do you get the boat off the trailer- or do you ignore it?
That spot typically doesn’t get done
Lots o work!
You ain’t lying!
Tds on IGL Marine require 2 coats. Also require to up&down + left&right in order to apply correctly the coating. Also IGL have a precoat product that is used exclusively before you apply any IGL coating.
Boat already had IGL on it, this was a topper one year later
@@DrakesDetailing If IGL marine was applied correctly 1 year ago no topper where required after 1 year. Easy above water will last 4 years.
@@maxriganti8199 ok guy! Well beings you’re the pro why are you watching a video on how to apply ceramic? Ha
@@DrakesDetailing lol! It come up on my feed. I’m a IGL master Kenzo Detailer For 3 years. I own a 4Ksq2 shop in Phoenix AZ. Far away to be just a guy….my comments Where only intended as coaching and far away From insulting or bashing.
Cool! You should stick to kenzo! You don’t know the first thing about igl marine in warm salt water :)
Do you have a price sheet you can email me?
Whatcha mean? Pricing for what??
@@DrakesDetailing cost per foot.... lol
I think you can say, “absolutely need”. I’d be lost without my PXE 80.
Thats the truth!
Curious about the oils on your hands effecting the ceramic?
I see in some parts you arent wearing gloves while leveling. Will the oils from your hands not transfer to the rag? I have been using marine nano shop liquid crystal prop and pro hd. I operate my marine detailing business in florida. Would love to talk shop sometime man🤙🏽 check me out on facebook and insta.

Best case would be to wear gloves... but in this case it was 90 degrees and I was sweating like a mofo ha my gloves were dripping so we took them off.
It is what it is ha
