- The weather was nice after work so I decided to go for a drive down my favourite back roads.
Engine: C20xe built by Exon Race Engines, running on QED jenvey throttle bodies at 221HP@7750rpm-161lb/ft@6800rpm
Very, very, VERY tasty motor! I used to have a GTE 16v back in the 90s and woulda LOVED to go this route for power. The XE was such an incredible engine, far and away the best 16 valve engine for a decade (maybe more, it's defo my favourite!) I also had a mate with a Nova and Corsa obsession so it's very nostalgic with you taking us all for a drive. Pukka car mate!
Good videos mate, proper driver too, nails the car without abusing it and respects the places when you need to drive carefully. Respect.

This reminds me of the gravel runs that I used to do in the cane fields with my Suzuki......albeit, without the Jenveys.....

I know theses roads i grew up near by I used to use the back roads between brandsburton and driffield for ragging about, I had a 1.3 SR back in the day and a mk2 Astra 1.8 sxi, car sounds awesome nice growl..
I've not been down them roads since my grandparents sold their boat which was moored on the river outside Brandesburton, used to travel it regularly, can catch people out if they arnt local though

Man the XE sings with those Jenveys fitted to it, gives me the inspiration to finish my own Nova. How do you find it handles with the big block engine up front? Are you running coilovers? Great car and video mate.
Im not on coilovers, im on springs and dampers, and they are around 12-15 years old so probably pretty tired, it doesnt handle that well at the moment, but i plan to put a quick rack, coilovers and full cage in along with other bits and bobs so hopefully should get it ready for the track soon😁
@@clanjarheadstt05 Back in the day when I did mine (1998) I fitted a full strengthening kit to the engine bay and seam welded all the joints in the engine bay and chassis legs as well to keep it all tight at the front, well worth the effort. Mine was dyno'd at 197 bhp so not as quick as yours but I did not have throttle bodies just cams, flowed head, remap, different throttle inlet, and full bespoke exhaust system. Great fun and it could outpace a lot. Ran a 13.7 qtr at Santa Pod with it as well which was fast back in the day.
@@superbrit3845 yeah its all strengthened and seam welded. Last time i had this down the strip was years ago and i ran a 14.2, should be quicker now lol

nah mate, the brake and throttle are in the wrong place, just slipping off the brake and back on in between blips, not driving fast enough to need heel toe lol.

Some East Riding Stages territory there Tom (Wawne Common? ) Camera gives the impression that the suspension need softening just a tad. I rallied a 16V Astra back in the 90s. Often thought that I should have gone the Nova route instead.
Correct, and yeah, the suspension will be getting an upgrade at some point in the future. It’s a little hard atm

I couldnt tell you the exact code, as i have forgotten, but i know they are an older SBD profile, the power doesnt really come in till around 4K but then it sings all the way to 8😃
