UTM and parallels desktop are not the same in terms of everyday usage. In fact UTM is unbearably slow since it limits the processor to only 1 GHz. Combine the fact that you’re using windows 11 on 1 ghz and the lack of graphics virtualization and you are off to a very sluggish experience. You’ll be able to run basic things Microsoft Access or SPSS if you want to, but it will be a pain in the but to run those apps. Watching videos on RUclips is impossible as well. I personally recommend VMware virtual machine. It is paid software but free for personal use. It is fast and has good virtualization capabilities.
How well would online gaming run on parallels. For example street fighter 6 is coming out soon. Will I be able to play my friends online with as good performance if it was running on a native windows machine?
I'm not a fan of vscode for C# and C++ development on my mac. I typically have to go to my Windows machine when working on these languages, but I would prefer to use my mac because of the absence of heating and long battery life (my Dell XPS 13 doesn't last long anymore unfortunately). I've been trying to figure out how to install Windows 11 on my mac so i can use my Visual Studio Enterprise on it. Looks like I'll have to go for Parallels

Hi Refinery, Parallels desktop app is pretty demanding on resources. If you will be using it on your Mac, without being plugged into a charger, obviously your battery life will be reduced. It depends. You will be playing games it will drain the battery pretty fast. If you are using just simple office apps on Windows it will be ok for a day of usage. If you’re not using your virtual machine temporary it freezes. So it’s not consuming battery 🪫
i only wanted parallels of gaming and i got fortnite but it gots a 1275 error and stumble guys say your interner core something does not support so thats why parallel sucks all a wanted was to play games :C
could you try and see how to get the best performance from an eGPU RTX 4080 in parallels as well ? can you max out games and get over 170 fps at 1440P ??

Hi, I think you will not be able to use UTM for editing 3D objects as it doesn't have a graphics accelerator. I think you will be open the app and even view your project but it will be very difficult and quite slow. It may work for 1 time usage but for everyday usage you need to use Parallels ;)

oki I got you :) You want to with between macOS Desktop and Windows 11 using the swipe gesture on your trackpad? like I did in this video. Well, it's pretty easy. You can go to the settings of your MacBook and activate all gestures for your trackpad (additional gestures). The just open Windows 11 on one desktop and go to full-screen mode. Using 3 fingers (swipe left or right) you can switch between systems.

Hi, since UTM is a free open-source software I don't think they should be ashamed of something :) I think since not a lot of users are using older Macs they decided to stop supporting older macOS versions. It's a normal thing. Unfortunately, that is how it works in the IT world. If you want to use newer software you need to have a newer macOS. All in all 2009 iMac is and 14-year-old device.

to be able to play PC games or use Windows apps you have to use a virtualization software like Parallels or UTM. So you cannot delete it and play GTA V :)

Parallels desktop was working perfectly for me but UTM windows can’t run any game bevause crashing lag.
UTM does not have graphics acceleration so it's not intended for gaming - only for basic apps usage :)

I just find UTM last week, it works great, I use few app on W11, not game playing. Parallets charges every time they update, it sucks.

Technically, you can open 3-D editing software, but it will be very slow ☺️ it’s better to use parallels for high demanding 3-D apps

After downloading gta5 can i delete utm and use gta5
to be able to play PC games or use Windows apps you have to use a virtualization software like Parallels or UTM. So you cannot delete it and play GTA V :)
