    Total War: Shogun 2 Gameplay Information:
    In the darkest age of Japan, endless war leaves a country divided. It is the middle of the 16th Century in Feudal Japan. The country, once ruled by a unified government, is now split into many warring clans. Ten legendary warlords strive for supremacy as conspiracies and conflicts wither the empire. Only one will rise above all to win the heart of a nation as the new shogun...The others will die by his sword.
    Take on the role of one Daimyo, the clan leader, and use military engagements, economics and diplomacy to achieve the ultimate goal: re-unite Japan under his supreme command and become the new Shogun - the undisputed ruler of a pacified nation.
    -----
    Total War: Shogun 2 Features:

      @@Vesporeon I think its time that Yari Ashigaru need re-balancing. From now on Yari and Bow ashigaru are going to need military buildings to be recruitable. Instead they are replaced by Yari and Bow Levies. Levies come in very large numbers being the same size as Ikko Ikki ashigaru, very cheap in recruitment and upkeep and do not need any prerequisite buildings however they have worse stats and very low morale. Also both levies lack the abilities of the higher tier units. Bow Levies lack fire arrows, while Yari Levies being armed with short spears lack the yari wall ability
      Ashigaru will have improved combat stats but now are slightly more expensive and require prerequistite for their types. Bow Ashigaru now needs the Archery Dojo, Yari Ashigaru now needs the Yari Drill Yard and Loan Sword Ashigaru are now recruitable to every clan and require the Sword School. The samurai units that were previously recruitable from these buildings have been moved up to the next tier and now have vastly improved stats. Also Katana samurai and katana cavalry will be completely removed. Now that Katana samurai have been removed the Shimazu clan will be compensated by giving small bonuses to all their samurai units essentially making them the anti oda.

      @@Hyena-hy2ni historically ashigaru did started out as levied peasants but by the late shengoku jidai period they evolved into a professional soldier class that was below the samurai. • @yish14
      @yish14 4 года назад +1

      @@RocketHarry865 what if instead, the ashigaru units get unlocked through technologies rather than buildings? For example, the way of the bow unlocks recruitment of bow ashigaru. It would make the evolution of these units more time-based, and emulate the trend of desiring a middle ground between cheap but crappy levies and good but small/expensive samurai to field larger armies

    • @MrSmartDonkeyLP
      @MrSmartDonkeyLP  7 лет назад +3

      I've never really found that to be a good tactic, at all. Let's say clans with 10 regions probably have about 2-3 armies, most of their provinces would be empty. You start making those provinces rebel you're giving every single territory an army that's sitting in the town, plus you'll have to repair all the buildings when you take them, how is that a good tactic? You're just making things harder on yourself.

    • @KyoushaPumpItUp
      @KyoushaPumpItUp 7 лет назад +2

      ***** the reason why i do this is because i usually have 6000+ gold income because of trade which makes me think that i can afford to repair those buildings. But I see your point. I'll try this clan again without converting to christianity.

    Hey Mr98%SmartDonkey,you forgot one thing that makes Mori the master of cheap ships.
    Mostly Clan Special units like Shimazu Katana Samurai,Chosokabe Bow Samurai,Date No-Dachi Samurai,and Oda Yari Ashigaru has this -25 Upkeep Cost,like Shimazu,Chosokabe,and Date Special Samurai has 125 Upkeep,instead of 150 Upkeep.
    all exception is the mori,their Bow Kobaya,and medium bune are better at combat,with more men,but Look at their Heavy Bune for example.
    Heavy bune cost 175 Upkeep,and Mori Heavy bune only need 100 Upkeep,which means while normal clans has 4 Heavy bune for 700 Upkeep,the mori can have 7 Heavy Bune with the same 700 upkeep.
    I could go on about their hillariously wtf ship Upkeep cost,but I leave the Heavy bune here,for example.

      But naval battles aren't as important in the vanilla version of the game.
      Yes, protecting trade notes is important early game, but once real divide starts, your provinces alone should be able to sustain your army.
      And while naval invasions are annoying, they are not nearly as frequent as land stacks moving on you.
      I don't think I've ever had a campaign in which I had more than 10 ships (excluding trade ships), on any difficulty.

    • @notanonymous3976
      @notanonymous3976 3 года назад +4

      if u got a fat navy protecting your trade nodes you dont need to worry about being self sustaining from your provinces and you can repel enemy landings

    • @koreancowboy42
      @koreancowboy42 3 года назад +1

      But most of the land battles is more crucial than naval and the trade nodes.
      Trade nodes are only useful for clans that are actually near them can are able to compete with other naval powers.
      For myself playing as Oda, I can easily beat the mori and just spend most of my earnings on improving my naval power

    • @Joker-yw9hl
      @Joker-yw9hl Год назад +1

      Just going to add my comment to this thread. I've recently finished both an Oda and a Mori campaign, and with the Oda I didn't bother with having a navy at all, whereas with the Mori I went all-in on capturing every trade node apart from the one in the far north-east. For a clan situated nearby the trade nodes it's definitely worth investing in a navy.
      The most underrated thing about having a navy in this game is the ability to prevent enemy landings behind your lines. I can't tell you how many armies I have sunk in my Mori campaign that were headed to unguarded territories via boat. In my Oda campaign I got backdoored plenty of times during Realm Divide where enemies sailed full stacks behind my lines in the north-east... It was a pain in the ass and made my western push a bit more challenging. As the Mori I had no such trouble. Yes maintaining a navy can be a pain in the ass, especially during Realm Divide, but once you establish dominance of both the southern and northern coasts it's a breeze and much less stressful than having enemy invasions via the sea all the time.
      The trade nodes in this game aren't as ridiculously OP as they are in Napoleon, and in fact when I looked at my finances as the Mori I was shocked that all my trade income went on maintaining my fleets - but these fleets were preventing me from getting backdoored by enemy stacks, and enabled me to push uninterrupted on land, so...
      You can definitely play without bothering with a navy so I can understand that argument, but it was cool playing as the Mori and thematically giving a shit about the navy. Plus as you push east and eliminate more clans you can gradually disband any excess ships and rake in extreme bank

    just going to point it out, but back in your top 15 unique units list you said wako raiders essentially have the same thing as kisho training, if so then perhaps instead of using them as front-liners, you can use them as flankers since they seem to have more sustainability in standard fighting than light cav., and can already be hidden in a position where the enemy cannot see until you have already charged them from behind, from there, now the enemy has strong fighters on both sides. just a thought

    • @MrSmartDonkeyLP
      @MrSmartDonkeyLP  7 лет назад +32

      That's a valuable tactic. I don't tend to put too much value in vanguard deployment usually, but if that's your thing it's definitely a good tactic. They'd be better at it than Ninjas as long as you can keep them hidden long enough.

    Also of note... @ 1:52 Bingo and Izumo are great defensive provinces with castles. This will allow you to provide a defense on land while your navy patrols or takes the Sea Trade routes. You can then push towards Nagato and Suo.. then onward to Kyushu Island, then take over Shikoku. By then you should own most of the Sea trade lanes and be rich as hell, all the while you only really have to defend two provinces while you take at least 3 armies on your conquest, and possibly returning one to reinforce your defense.

    The one really good thing about the Mori is that while the actual combat boosts of their ships aren’t too interesting, they solve the biggest problem with establishing a decent enough navy to control the sea and trade ports, and that is ships in Shogun 2 can quickly cost a lot in upkeep. Meanwhile the Mori’s reduced upkeep bonus is the best version of this trait out of any clans for their own unique traits. This allows the Mori to field a decently larger and better navy then any other clan for the exact same upkeep cost. Or field the same sized navy for a drastically cheaper price. Which is vital when with the Mori’s lack of unique bonuses on land, you having the extra money to fund a army that is good regardless of bonuses is quite useful.

Shimazu and Oda and the bottom and Tokugawa and Uesugi the top. but the ones in the middle I would want to see your opinion on. I personally love the chosokabe clan traits but HATE there position for 1 stupid reason. you cannot walk onto the main island from the small island that is part of the island of Shikoku. Meaning you have to navel invade to get off your island. Say that, a full stack naval invades your capital. The only way you can bring solders back is by ships, witch can very easily get sunk unless you invest A LOT into your navel force. it also means there is 0 retreating or regrouping. also if you look on the map where I said earlier, you are so close to the main island that it makes 0 since that you can't walk forces over.

      Instead of the monk agent, you have the christian missionary. Which is basically the same agent.
      You can build churches which are roughly equivalent to first level temples.
      The christian units as well as the churches and missionaries are available as soon as you convert while the buddhist monks require research.
      Becoming a christian gives -2 penalty to the daimyo honour: affects the loyalty of your generals, diplomacy and the happines in all your cities. It also gives an extra diplomatic penalty on top of the honour one. Having population of a religion different from your faction gives a high penalty to the public order and 90% of the map are buddhists.

      I'd say so, if there's any clan that would be good to turn Christian with, it'd be the Mori. I just can't be bothered with the hassle of converting every province. It would be good to spice things up with, but for efficiency's sake, I'd stay Buddhist.

      Actually, in the long term, the mori would greatly benefit from Christianity because it would grant them the ability to recruit gunpowder ships as well as new gun units.
      However, I would recommend this mainly for experienced players as doing this would hurt diplomatic relations and make other clans more likely to attack you. But who knows, perhaps you could handle being a Christian daimyo.

    The most annoying clan to play, imho, all bonus for ships but playing with boats is like ordering a pie and realizing it has no filling

      You get one when you become Shogun. If you lose that one you can build another one if you have a Drydock.
